Chapter 3

Tris's POV

  Once Eric spoke to Johanna, you could tell the tension was thick. A few minutes later, the voice through the intercom says, " All dwellers Abnegation and Amity alike report to the dining hall for a meeting." 

   I looked at Tobias and Caleb before trudging onward to the dining all. My curiosity seems to be getting the best of me, because my feet soon pick up the pace. I find myself standing shoulder to shoulder with an Abnegation girl. I recognize her just by my peripheral vision, Susan Black. She was very close to Caleb, then he transferred to Erudite. I assume their relationship had fallen off once he transferred, but now they are reunited and it looks like things are like the old times. I turn and search for Caleb, seeing him standing next to Robert Black, former Abnegation. I feel someone touch the small of my back, Tobias.  His dark blue eyes meeting my light blue ones, I smile at him softly as if a sign of reassurance. My attention is soon drawn to the front of the room. Johanna Reyes standing in the middle of the hall, her hair falling to the side of her face covering the scar. If there is anything needed to be known about the Amity is that they vote on everything, which leads to an unanimous result. The chatter that was once there soon ceases as soon Johanna bows her head, the silence is eerie like you could possibly hear a pin drop.  She clears her throat before speaking, "Our fellow Erudite and Dauntless pals are looking for some people, several members from Abnegation, three Dauntless as well as a former Erudite initiate. I had told them that the people are here but have moved on. They are asking for permission to check the compound out. Do we have any objections?" She smiles softly. 

The tension in her voice seems to say do not object, that they should be quiet. No one seems to object so Johanna nods to the Erudite woman that stood next to her. The Erudite woman spoke to her lackys of Dauntless traitors, "Three of you stay here while the rest of you search the compound. Also do not forget to report anything back to me. Go!" Her voice sounding demanding. I followed behind Tobias, accompanied by Caleb and Peter once we reached the outside of the hall, we headed toward Johanna's office where she is allowing us to hide.  I hear heavy footsteps from down below, but they abruptly stop in place and I hear a faint conversation. Tobias soon speaks up "We need to leave now, and we need to separate." I began to open a nearby window which would be our only way out before they search the upper levels. "Okay yeah, every man for themselves" Peter mumbled as he stared at Tobias. Right as I thought Peter was on our side he does something traitor-like, I knew I should have killed him when I had the chance.  Peter had sprinted toward the ledge screaming "HEY! THEY ARE UP HERE ERIC! THEY ARE UP HERE HURRY! COME ON THEY ARE GETTING AWAY!" We all scrambled toward the window, Tobias was the first one out on the ledge followed by myself and then Caleb. You could hear the heavy running steps that only Dauntless boots make when you run. 

His dark blue eyes locked with mine as if to say on three, soon after our brief discussion we jumped from the ledge. Tobias had knocked out one of the Dauntless traitors as I took on the other one. Punching him in the jaw before getting his weapon of choice and jamming the handle toward his face rendering him unconscious. Caleb stared at me as if to say was that really necessary. Tobias tossed a gun my way as he took the other one, we began a full on sprint toward the dome with myself in the front, Caleb in the middle and Tobias at the end. Once Eric had reach Johanna's office, he realized that we are on foot, making a run for it. "I got three on foot making it toward the dome." He shouted. 

You could hear the glass shattering from the dome window panels as various bullets spray across the room.  We began to pick up the pace once we saw the traitors chasing us. We had made it out of the Amity compound and into the forested area that cover eight miles. The Dauntless traitors with blue bands around the arms of their uniform are chasing us along with Eric while bullets fly towards us. Tobias turns around and begins to shoot back. 

"Tris a little help here?" He said as if he is almost struggling.

I turn around quickly and began to fire back at the traitors. We are soon nearing the train tracks, as we all ran across the tracks, well all except Tobias. The train is nearing closer to us. Tobias fires a few more bullets before jumping across the tracks and joining the rest of us.
