i get into the shower when i'm home and grayson leaves to get food. after only a few minutes, just before i'm finished in the shower, there's a knock at the door.

it's 2am, it wouldn't be anyone else. he must have forgotten his keys. i quickly get out of the shower and wrap a towel around my waist to open the door.

but it's not grayson.

"i didn't know-" jade cries as she wraps her arms around me and hugs me tightly, "i didn't know where else to go"

"you're okay" i try to calm her down as I hug her back.

she must have walked here, because it's raining out and she's soaking wet. "come inside, i'll get you a change of clothes"

"i'm a mess" she's scoffs, "i'm sorry" she breaks down into tears again as she buries her head into my chest.

"hey" i speak softly before tilting her head up to look at me, "i already told you, you can trust me"

"thank you" she mumbles as she starts to calm down.

"come on, let's get you dry" i whisper before taking her hand and leading her into my bedroom.

"why were you in the shower so late?"

"i couldn't sleep" i shrug, "are these okay?" i ask before handing her a pair of shorts and a hoodie.

she nods and takes the clothes into my bathroom to get changed. while she's in the bathroom i also get changed and start to dry my hair.

"can you dry mine?" jade asks, coming out of the bathroom.

i nod. "sit down on the bed"

once i finish drying her hair, i take a hairbrush to brush it. she winces as soon as i touch her hair and i pull away quickly.

"what happened?" i ask, sitting down beside her.

"i don't want to talk about it" she mutters and takes the hairbrush to brush her hair by herself.

"it obviously upset you a lot, talk to me"

"it doesn't matter" she shakes her head.

"was it noah?"

"ethan drop it" she warns.

"i'm sorry. you don't have to tell me"

"thank you"

"do you need to stay here tonight?"

"please" she mumbles under her breath, before we both hear the front door open and she looks at me concerned.

"don't worry, it's only grayson" i assure her, "are you hungry?"

"starving" she groans and her mood suddenly changes as she follows me out to the kitchen.

"what are you doing here?" grayson asks surprised when he sees jade, before looking at me for an answer.

i shake my head subtly and he nods before wrapping an arm around her, bringing her into the kitchen.
