"and your room number is 170" the receptionist tells us as we finish checking in, "enjoy your stay" he says as we're walking away.

"thank you" i smile before ethan pulls me close, "what's wrong?" i look at him concerned.

"we've got to get out of here" he mutters.

"why?"

"he was staring at me the whole time and ran to the phone as soon as we walked away" he says, talking about the receptionist.

"i think you're just being paranoid"

"do you want to stay and chance it?"

"fine" i roll my eyes before taking his hand and leaving the hotel discreetly.

"great, you're pissed off at me again" he huffs getting into the drivers seat of the car.

"i'm not"

"yes you are"

"that's the third time this week this has happened"

"it's not my fault"

"i never said it was" i sigh.

"you're being short with me"

"just drive please" i mutter while massaging my temples.

"call the cops, tell them where i am" he turns the car off.

"stop being stupid"

"i'm serious. we've been living like this for a month and look at us"

"you're not going back to prison"

"i'm not dragging you into this mess"

"you're not. this is our mess, we both made it and we're both dealing with it"

"you'll hate me if i let you stay with me"

"i could never hate you" my voice cracks, "this is just a lot harder than i thought it would be"

"i was thinking" he trails off, "we should call noah"

"why?"

"we could stay with him for a little bit until everything calms down"

"do you think we could trust him?" i ask, weary of the idea.

"yeah. he owes us it"

"i guess we could try" i shrug.

ethan takes his phone out and calls noah. they talk for a few minutes before he puts his phone away and starts the car.

"we're going to stay with noah" he tells me.

"are you sure you want to trust him?"

"it's the only option we have left. everyone is noticing me"

"okay" i gulp.

i don't think staying with noah is the best idea, but i don't want to risk ethan being caught.

ethan

the drive from ohio to chicago took us almost 6 hours and we're exhausted by the time we get to noah's house.

"hey" he smiles opening the door to us, "it's good to see you guys"

"hey" jade smiles, "thanks so much for letting us stay"

"don't worry about it" he says while he looks at her with the same look he always has.

he never got over jade, you can see it in his eyes. i don't blame him.
