I Need A Hero Vol. 4 {Peter Quill}

Everyone was on board the Benatar except for Tony. Gwen sat in the Captain's chair, and Thor sat in the one beside her, holding her hand. He could tell how tense she was feeling so he gave her hand reassuring squeezes from time to time. The Guardians sat in the front seats, and the Avengers were in the back. Rocket was in the very middle seat. He turned around and faced the Avengers.

"We've all been up into space before, correct?" Rocket asked.

"We've all been to an alien planet" Rhodey reminded him.

Beverly raised her hand, and Rocket turned her attention towards her. "I haven't been in space before"

"Well, you better not throw up on my ship" Rocket warned her.

"Our ship, Rocket" Gwen corrected him. Rocket rolled his eyes and turned back around so he was facing the windshield.

"Approaching jump in 3...2...1!" Nebula counted. The ship jumped forward into a wormhole. Most of the Avengers had a tight grip onto their seats, but the Guardians were used to jumps by now. They slowed down, and were now hovering in orbit of the planet they saw on the hologram. Both Carol and Meredith had got out of their seats. The two of them went outside and hovered just outside the ship.

"We'll head down for recon" Carol said.

"Let's just hope he's alone down there" Meredith hoped. The two women flew down to the planet.

"Since when can my daughter breath in the vacuum of space?" Gwen asked, completely astounded. She wasn't expecting an answer though. Everyone began readying themselves for the pending confrontation. Gwen and Thor both got up from their seats, and approached each other. "Thor, you know if this works, I'll be back with my Peter"

"I know, and the moment he returns, I will let you go so you can reunite with him" Thor said. He cupped her cheeks and touched his forehead to hers. "May I have one last kiss? Something that I can remember you by?"

"Yes" Gwen closed her eyes as she felt Thor place his soft lips against hers. The kiss lasted for a moment or two, before their lips parted and they held each other in a secure hug. Carol and Meredith had returned from their recon of the planet.

"No satellites, no ships, no armies, no ground defenses of any kind. It's just him" Carol explained.

"What about his three friends? The dragon lady, the techno guy, and the scary shadow lady?" Kraglin wondered.

"We didn't see them down there, but we shouldn't assume they aren't" Meredith warned.

"Assuming of course, he didn't kill them the second time he snapped. We should still remain wary while we're down there" Nebula said.

"Alright. Let's land this thing and get the stones" Gwen said, taking her seat. She piloted the ship into the planet's atmosphere. She found an open and grassy spot to land. "When we're out there, stick together. This is Thanos we're dealing with. We can't risk losing any more people"

"What's our plan, Quill?" Steve asked.

"Carol and Meredith, since you two are the strongest, you guys stay in front. If you see Phantom, Brenna, or Zane, don't engage in a fight unless they engage first. Our goal is to get those stones from Thanos. Let's avoid combat with him, if possible" After Gwen went over the plan, they all set off to find Thanos and get the stones back. Little did they know, their plan was easier said than done.

By the time the Avengers/Guardians had approached a wooden shed, they had yet to run into Thanos, or his three remaining lackeys. They could hear two voices coming from inside. One voice belonged to Thanos and the other belonged to Phantom.
