Chapter 14

Tris POV

I walk down the hall to go tell Christina but someone comes up behind me. I turn around and see.... NITA!!!

"Go away, he doesn't like you" she shakes her head.

"Well if he didn't like me then how would I know about his scars," she smirks. My mouth drops open

"And if you don't break up with him now, I'm going to tell the whole compound about Marcus" I can't let that happen. I don't want his secret to be spilled all over the compound because of me.

Tobias POV

I get home from work and tris is already home. She's not normally home this early but I don't ask. Then I realize hers eyes are red. She looks like she's been crying.

"Tris what's wrong" she stand up and I walk towards her, but she backs up.

"I....I don't think I can do this anymore" she looks away and a tear rolls down her cheek.

"Tris I don't understand, did I hurt you" now I'm sobbing. I can't live without her. Now I know how she felt when I tried to leave.

"I'm sorry but I have to go" she looks down and grabs her stuff and walks out.

Tris POV

I walk out and I'm grabbed from behind as soon as I leave. They put their hand over my mouth.

I try to scream but I can't so I bite down. The taste of blood fills my mouth and I hear the person wince.

"Stop it stiff" there is only one person in dauntless that call me stiff.

Peter.

Tobias POV

I walk out of the room to see if tris is there but she not. I check her new apartment and Christina's but she's not there either. Then I call her parents but she's not there either. After checking the whole compound I realize she's missing.

I call everyone I know and check the cameras but there's no trace of her. I search for a few hours but I can't find her.

Tris POV

So far I've been missing for three months, I miss Tobias even though he probably doesn't miss me. I should have told him what happened about Nita. I've been beaten, starved, kissed, touched, and Peter even got me pregnant. After I got pregnant he beat me some more and I had a miscarriage. I tried to starve myself but Peter found out and beat me until I ate something.  I wish I was dead.

Tobias POV

Ever since tris went missing I started drinking. I can't let her go. She can't die. I just want her back. There has to be a reason she cut things off. I can't sleep, not without her. I've slept with about 20 other girls since, but don't ask me about them, I really don't remember them. Then I hear a knock and open the door to zeke.

"Did Shauna kick you out" he shakes his head.

"No, I have a lead" my eye widen and I pull him through the door.

"What is it" I'm happy that we might find her but I'm worried about where she's been.

"Well I realized ever since she went missing, Peter has been gone" I run out the door the Max's office (we act like brothers sometimes).

"Four you know it's early right" then he sees the look on my face.

"Where has Peter been?" I ask him.

"He moved to Eric's old room" I get up and grab a gun. I run to Eric's apartment.

"Peter you better open this door or I'm going to kill you" no one answers to I bust the door down. I run into the room and there is one door that is complete metal.

"Tris!!!!!" I scream as loud as I can. I go through every room. Please answer. Then zeke finally shows up with a gun. Finally I yell something.

"You die....." I trail of seeing if she'll finish it.

"I die" there she is, I follow the sound and find Peter with a belt in his hand. I can't help but think about Marcus. I aim and he throws a knife. He misses but then he takes another one and holds it against tris' neck.

"If you move, she's dead"  he holds the knife up against her. Then I realize zeke isn't here he's on the other side of the room and I don't think Peter knows yet. I look at zeke  and he aims the gun.

Tris POV

After the gun goes off Peter is on the floor. Tobias comes up to me and I'm just not ready to stare into his beautiful eyes again. I have no idea weather he has a girlfriend. I'm never going to forgive my self if he does.

"Come on we have to go" he stares in my eyes.

"I've missed you" I say and he looks relieved. I hope that will break the awkwardness a little. But I know I'll have to explain why I broke things off.

Tobias POV

I carry tris bridle style into what used to be our apartment. She shakes in my arms and as much as I want to know what happened, I think I should wait for now. I grab a pillow to let her have the whole bed.

"Tobias?" She asks. Her voice is shaking.

"Yeah, what's wrong" I can hear her breathing heavily from the ground.

"I don't feel safe with you on the ground" she turn to the side on the bed and forces a small smile. So I move up and she curls up in my arms.

"Tobias" she whispers under her breath.

"What" she turns towards me.

"Are we able to trade pillows" she looks at me and I smile.

"Of course" I whisper and I hand her the pillow.

"It's just this one smells like safety, it smells like you" she whispers and curled back up into my arms. "I love you " she whispers one last time.

"I love you, please never leave me again" and she sits up in the bed.

"What's wrong" I think she smelled the alcohol of me.

"How many girls did you sleep with while I was gone" I don't want to answer that question, but I want her to trust me.

"To be honest, a lot" I blurt out. " I couldn't sleep without you, I searched the whole compound and the factions. I became an alcoholic" I look down ashamed of myself.

"It's ok...." she pauses a moment. " I did some stuff too" I can't help but think about what peters done to her.

"Tris, he's dead and if anyone ever tries to kill you. They'll be dead in a minute" she smiles but starts shaking again.

"What did he do?" what ever he did really had her freaked out.

"He did....a lot" I know she wants to talk to me about it, but she thinks I'm going to get mad at her or something.

"Tris I'm not going to be mad at you, what ever happened to you wasn't your fault" I look at her and put my hand on her cheek.

"Yes it was, if I hadn't broke things off cause Nita threatened me" I cut her off.

"NITA?" She nods her head and tears roll down her cheeks and I hug her.

"It's ok, you don't have to talk about what happened" she shakes her head.

"You need to know what he did" she sighs then tells me " when I was there he beat me and slapped me and tied me up. I couldn't leave. Then after a while he came in and...." she trails off and more tears follow " he came in and noticed I was trying to starve myself, after he realized, he beat me and touched me" my jaw clenches as she continues. "I got pregnant with his kid" I see her sobbing "but he beat me more and I had a miscarriage" she's sobbing so I lie her down and let her curl up in my arms.

"Tris, it's ok, it's over" I reassure her and she lies her head on what used to be my pillow.
