“I don’t care how much you say it, you don’t own me.” I stated.

“Tell that to the council.” He smiled. ‘The council? Who are they?’ I thought.

“The council are the commanders and chief of all of this.” He said making a wide gesture. “They make all the laws for us touring vampires and give out the punishments if we don’t follow them and to educate you on a little vampire history the rule is: Any human kidnapped on tour has been separated from normal human functions and cannot go back, they are now servants in the vampire world and must be watched at all times therefore becoming property of the vampire that took them unless they are transferred to the care of another vampire, owner ship then also transfers.”

“Wow, I didn’t figure you to be the rule type.” I said sarcastically

“I mostly do what I want but I don’t stray outside the lines enough to cause a problem.” He said, smiling like he was a sweet angel.

“Do they have a rule against human abuse?” I asked, testing him. His eyes narrowed and the smug grin disappeared. ‘just wiping that grin off his face is so worth me probably getting smacked again.’ I thought.

“Unfortunately...” He replied, “But I haven’t followed that rule for 30 years and I’m sure as hell not gona listen to it now, especially in your case.” He growled “Still haven’t been caught either” I took a step back and glaced around again. “don’t worry, I wont do anything because we’re within ear shot, I’ll wait till I have you all to myself.” He said, a twisted grin returning to his face and with that he walked away. I breathed a sigh of relief, I was okay for now but I couldn’t say anything about later. I didn’t know what to do after that so I returned to my job, unloading the table, display, and boxes into the tapped off area inside the venue.

“Are you alright!?” Celestina asked, appearing out of no where.

“Yeah, we just talked. He didn’t want to do anything because others were around.” I told her,

“So now he has all day to sit on his anger and dream up exactly how he is going to get his revenge.. great.” She said meekly.

“Hey, its my ass not yours.” I said trying to comfort her, she looked so scared, she always looked scared and it bothered me so much.

“I care about you and I don’t want to see you get hurt. One of his rules is no hospitals so he’ll beat you bloody and leave you there unable to do a thing about it!” I was thoughtful for a moment, ‘it sounds like something he’d do, slow, agonizing. But if he was going to do something it sure as hell wasn’t gona come easy, I’ve fought for my life before.’ I thought. Suddenly she gave me a hug breaking me out of my thoughts, I awkwardly put my arm around her, not used to affection.

“Be careful what you say.” she stated and hurried off, that was odd for her, short stated and cold. I finished setting up and sat at the bar watching the stage crew, it was almost show time.

Within the hour the venue came alive, filled with what seemed like a thousand people. During the show merch only had a few visitors but after, we were SWAMPED! Celestina had to come off stage duty to come help. My mind was scattered and going in every direction, I tripped over the boxes twice and I almost forgot to take money before going on to the next person. Despite the obvious line people didn’t understand and tried to cut up straight to the front and everyone was screaming to get my attention before eachother.

“Hey now everyone! You gotta keep in order, these lovely ladies can only do so much and will get to you soon.” James said coming out of nowhere and instantly calming down the crowd with a heart melting smile. I wanted to puke at the “lovely ladies” comment, it was such an act but I tried to ignore him.

“Can I help?” He asked, still putting on his sunny act.

“Yeah, get your head out of here, we need the room.” I stated flatly well going to retrieve a shirt. Celestina’s mouth dropped open which only made me laugh. I noticed James walked off, probably pissed and not wanting to lose it in front of everyone. Getting to insult his swollen head was worth it even if it was just a reflex and I did it without thinking. I looked over to see him glaring at me while pacing and I couldn’t help challenging him. “Your move asshole” I mouthed at him smugly, moving on to the next customer. I knew exactly where he was at all times just by looking at the fans. Their eyes followed and and they freaked out if he got to close so as I handed a shirt to a girl I saw their line of sight trailing towards me. I knew he was smirking at the challenge but I didn’t anticipate his move. An arm wrapped around my waist and when I turned to see what he was doing, he crushed his lips to mine. Angry screaming was heard all around the room and I wriggled away in shock. He gabbed my chin and leaned down to my ear.

“Your move bitch.” and with that he left me to get eaten alive by the fans, who I got chewed out by each and everyone of while they bought merch, some even tried to strike me but security got involved then. One girl managed to give me a quick slap but couldn’t take one back when I back handed her and she instantly hit the ground. After her the security guard just started following me around. After everyone had finally left I barely had the energy to pack everything up but I mustered through, I must not show any signed of weakness around this crowd. I knew I could never open up or trust anyone, even though I was dangerously close to both with Celestina already. I collasped on the couch back in the bus and almost asleep when Shaun, John, Demitry, and Rem came out of the back of the bus shouting like a bunch of rowdy high school boys. I gave them a quizical look.

“We’re going out partying! Wanna come? We don’t have to leave this city till later so we figured we get in some drinking and girls!” they said to me.

“Nah, I just barely survived my first day guys I’m whiped.” I said rubbing my eyes. They smiled, the reason I think behind it being that they were happy a crew member actually talked to them like normal people. I noticed they got mad a lot today when the crew talked to them so nervously. “next time definitely!” I said smiling.

“We like you, we need someone with some backbone around here.” John said, Shaun nodded and smiled.

“And the big head comment to James earlier, genius!” Demitry sang. “To bad, I bet you would have been fun to party with! He smiled then they ran out of the bus. Rem shot me a sweet smile before leaving. I was about to fall asleep again when I heard foot steps.

“Celestina’s on the crew bus and the boys are out... finally alone.” I heard James say happily.

Fear grew within me with every word.
