Chapter 4: Beauty (美しさ)

You told tanjiro that you were gonna wait outside. You needed some air. You couldn't really get your mind off of what tanjiro said to you.

Just why did he wanted to ask you to be his? Aren't things going to fast? He has a good heart so why you?

Why did you abandon your post to be with some boy all of a sudden?

You sighed and shrugged it off. You'll soon tell him how you feel, but for now you're feelings are is in circles.

You soon see tanjiro and sakonji come out of the house. You see tanjiro in his demon slayer outfit, and he looked a bit more mature than before.

You were happy.
"(Y/n), you're here"
"I told you that I'd wait for you" you said.
"All right, we'll be going now"

You look at tanjiro and see that he had one unclipped button.

"Wait tanjiro"
You went up to his face, and you didn't realize how close you were to his face but tanjiro got a bit flustered.

"There, you're ready"
"Th-thank you, (y/n)" tanjiro said.
Sakonji pats tanjiro on the shoulder, and pats your head.

Tanjiro and you waved sakonji goodbye and headed off.

Walking on the open path of a field, there was an awkward silence between you two.

Tanjiro took a quick glance at you as you seemed to be having some thoughts. Tanjiro didn't want to bother you so he went to check on his sister.

"Nezuko, are you all right?" He said.
Nezuko didn't make any noise inside her box.
"Nezuko?"

"Your sister doesn't seem to talk so much" you said.
"...you know, I remember now that mr. urokodaki said that nezuko would have strength by sleeping instead of consuming people" tanjiro says.

"Oh, well that's interesting. Your sister sometimes surprises me...I hope she gets lots of rest" you said.

Tanjiro smiles at you.

There was silence again on the walk, but then tanjiro interrupts it again for a question he had out of curiosity.

"(Y/n), I'm glad that you're with me. So I hope we'll work together as a good team" he smiles at you.

You stared at him and looked straight ahead again.
"I'm not going to help you" you said.
"...Huh?"
"This is your first mission tanjiro, and I don't want you to miss out on your first experience as a demon slayer" you smiled slightly at him.

"Oh, o-of course not hehe. But if anything, if I'm in serious trouble, will you be there for me?" He asked.
"...yeah, okay"

Tanjiro and you walk on a bridge that was led to the town. Tanjiro inspects the area.
"Could this be the town to the northwest?" Tanjiro said.

You both walk in town. There was a lot buildings and people walking around in the day. It was nice and lively.

Tanjiro noticed that there were some men looking at you, and for some reason he just got a little frustrated.

"(Y/n), how about you hold my hand" he said.
You looked at him confused.
"Why? We're not in danger so we're fine. Please focus tanjiro" you kept walking.

He sighed.
"That's not...the reason though..."

As you two were walking, tanjiro sees a boy looking distraught and as if he was dead inside.

Tanjiro stops and analyzes for awhile then kept walking.
"What happened?" You asked.
"Oh, nothing..."

People were whispering and talking. And it was mostly about the boy tanjiro past by and about how the women are getting abducted every night.
