Being a parent is the most important role anyone has to play...
You have to be responsible for the child, you have to treat that child with kindness and respect, you have to be there whenever the child needs you...but most importantly, you must love your child with all your heart.Unfortunately, there are many children out there in this world who either have a single mother or father, a parent who abuses them for no reason whatsoever, or no parent at all...
It breaks my heart knowing how cruel this world can be for most of those children.
That's probably why some of them even turned cruel themselves.
Well, I was one of the lucky ones.
Both of my parents have raised me very well before they divorced, especially my mother, who loves me so much while my father...
Well, let's just say me and my father don't get along anymore.
It's just one of those things, you know?
They have taught me right from wrong, how I should treat others and how to survive in the outside world while they cherished me and loved me with all their hearts.
But now I'm here, living in Seoul while they lived in the U.S, doing who knows what in their lives.
It was Parents Day and everyone was outside celebrating it with their parents, their long-life guardians, their mentors while I was just sitting here, alone in my apartment, munching on a bowl of Hot Cheetos while flipping through the channels.
Well, what else was I supposed to do?
I didn't have anyone here in the country so...no plans.
I then heard the front door unlock, then open with a creak.
I knew that it was Juno, my roommate that has lived with me for a month now.
One month down, three more to go...
Funny how time goes by so fast, huh?"Hey Junnie...how was your parents?"
Junnie was the nickname I have given to Juno, who unexpectedly loved it.
When I first said it to him, he smiled and said, "please call me that from now on~"
So there you go, now you know why I call him Junnie sometimes.
I heard him panting in the hallway like he just ran laps around the city or something.
It sounded like he was struggling with something too. A package maybe?"H-Hey Mackenzie! Umm it was good! My parents and I had a great time! But umm...could we talk about something? It's very important!"
"Ugh, fineeee"
I groaned as I lazily get off the couch and met him in the hallway.
I gasped however, for Juno had a baby in his arms!
A BABY!
IN HIS ARMS!
I stared at him with shock, standing still like a statue as I watched the baby suck Juno's finger."J-Juno?! Y-You're a father?! I-I'm so sorry! I-I had no idea that you-"
"N-No no no, she's not mine...actually, it's a long story..."
Juno then explained that while he was coming back from visiting his parents in Asan, he had found the baby walking all alone in the park, looking for her parents.
He tried searching for them all over the area but unfortunately, nobody knew who's child it was, so here he was, holding a random stranger's child in his arms as he shyly smiles at me, his brown eyes beaming with happiness.
That was sweet of him to look for her parents...
BUT WHY WOULD HE BRING HER HERE?!
THIS IS BASICALLY KIDNAPPING!
I shudder as I put rubber sanitary gloves on and carefully take the baby from Juno's arms, placing her on the mat in the middle of the living room, putting small orange cones with long, yellow caution tape attached around her so she wouldn't escape before I turn back to Juno."Are you crazy?! Why would you bring her here?!"
"I can't just let her off on her own! She needs help!"
"Then why didn't you go to the police?!"
"Because they're gone for the Parents Day weekend!"
"Oh that's just great!"
I sarcastically shout as I plop down on the couch, pulling my hair back in frustration.
"What's next, are we going to kidnap BTS too?!"
"Mackenzie, Mackenzie hey hey, calm down please, calm down..."
Juno begs as he plops down next to me, rubbing my back in reassurance as the baby girl claps her hands while watching a random cartoon on tv.
"Look, I left a letter at the police station telling them all about the whole situation. Don't worry, they'll understand. Until then, we have to look after this child till we find her parents. I mean, who else will?"
"Juno, I'm not good with kids...definitely not good with kids...I mean, imagine how many germs are on her!"
Juno giggles as he then ruffles my hair, messing my bun up.
He knew how much I hated germs.
That's why you would always see how clean and organized my apartment was everyday.
I was like the Levi Ackerman of the modern world...
Juno then softly smiles as he pinched my cheek, causing me to blush."Awww but look at her! I think she already likes you~"
We both gaze at the baby girl, who was now staring back at us with wide eyes. More like staring right at ME the whole time, with those big eyes.
I click my tongue as I stood up, carefully approaching her as I tried not to cross over the caution tape I had put all around her.
I look at Juno with fear and confusion."W-What should I do?"
"Talk to her!~"
I was now in a staring contest with the little kid as I slowly came closer and closer to her, feeling my heart beat fast as I tried not to think about all the kinds of germs she might be carrying.
I then attempt to speak to the little girl."H-Hi..."
"Da...da?"
She squeaks as I try to talk to her again.
"Hiii..."
"Da...?"
"Hiiiii~"
I then see her smile widely like the Cheshire Cat.
I think she's starting to like me-
The baby then touches my face with her hand...that was covered in drool.
You've probably already guessed what happened next, I'll give you a hint..."FUUUUUUUUUU-"
