-Denice's Pov-
Arriving back home was a feeling I truly missed. All the people, the town, especially our childhood home. I had my greetings with them all at airport so daddy carried in my luggage while me and Shay ran up the stairs to my bedroom. There was helium birthday balloons up above my bed and a gift laying on the bed which I'm guessing is from Shay. I read her sweet note and smiled widely, she was so cheesy. I decided to open my gifts earlier because I was too excited to see what I received. I got books from Shay which were signed by one of my favourite authors, mother got me a journal to write my thoughts and to write about my third year at Dusk Manor which I plan on doing and daddy, he got us tickets to a race car show that was happening tomorrow. We were all going as a family and even though mother and Shay didn't know much about it they were still excited just as much as I was. I told them about my summer and heard all about Shays while we all sat at the kitchen table eating lunch taking turns talking and telling stories. It was a good atmosphere to be in, you can defiantly sense the love and happiness in the room which made us have all laughs and smiles. Daddy than reached forward to grab ahold of me and Shays hands pressing kisses to them when we heard him sniffle. "Dad, what's wrong?" Shay asked concerned. I frowned looking up towards him and see tears filling his eyes, he started to chuckle. "Nothings wrong baby, I'm just happy we're all together finally," he smiles as the tears flowed down his cheeks. Mother quickly got up and used her vamp speed to stand behind him as she wrapped her arms around him to pull him against her chest. He was still sitting down in the chair when I squeezed his hand for comfort and it made me think how lonely it's been for him. He's practically alone in this big house, while the rest of us are miles away doing what we do best. I often wonder why mother didn't change him so he can be like us instead of being human, than again I don't think I'd like to see my father like us. In some cases I read online that it depends on the person to accept the vampire blood and I did do research before and it seemed like daddy was weak as it is. He's getting older and you can defiantly see the white hairs poking out so I made sure to cherish every moment I get to have with him before it gets to late.
That night me and Shay were laying on the couches in the spare room while we watched some movies on the screen we had a full afternoon as she drove me around town to go say hi to a few people and get a few things for school. It was nice to be alone with her and not have our boyfriends around all the time there was just so much to catch up on with her so we took the night to chat until we fell asleep late that night. The next morning we woke up to a rude awakening when the curtains flew up causing me and Shays skin to sizzle to the burns as we scream in pain, jumping into the shadows of the room. Mother was standing there with the curtain in her hand when she quickly closed them shut and checked to see if we were okay. "What were you girls thinking, always have you're rings on at all times," she explains. We nodded our heads and went to slip on our daylight rings and said sorry to mother who walked out of the room without a word. Shay started smirking when I shook my head indicating her to stop it before I burst out laughing myself and made sure mom was out of ear shot. I used my shield to surround us when I went to go sit down on the couch and Shay beside me. "We would've got spanked," I teased. Shay pushed me playfully laughing to what I said and I couldn't help but laugh along.
We were on our way to the race car show that following afternoon and I never been so excited to see it live instead of over the tv screen or my phone for updates. Daddy kept gushing about a new sports car that was going to be revealed at the show and since he has a collection of replicas in his office it would be perfect to get a replica of this sports car he's been talking about a lot. Arriving at the event, they're were tons of vehicles and people and I ain't going to lie smelling all the blood and hearing the beating hearts surround us is really frustrating since last year I was obsessed with human blood. I was able to get over it and not think about but being here in a different town and seeing all these humans is hard. We went to take our seats near the front so the fence was not to close to us but close enough to lean forward and touch it. You can defiantly smell all the oil and rubber from the sports cars in front of us, the oval race track and company's of each sports cars with they're teams. It was all so surreal. I was sitting next to dad with Shay on the other side of me and mother was holding onto dads hand which he kissed, it was too sweet. Shortly after the event was about to start which means that all the sports cars were lined up to race. They're we're probably twenty of them and I they had to do a few laps so the excitement was about to begin. "Which car are you cheering for?" Daddy says while he leans into me. I look over to the cars and check out each one it was hard to pick just one so I ended up not choosing any but instead cheering for all. "Hard to chose, I'll cheer for either one but that Mclaren 720s looks sick!" I replied pointing over to the orange sports car on the far right. I show Shay which one I'm talking about and she nodded in agree. "What about that baby blue one over there?" Shay points out towards the centre. It was a Porsche 911 which had intense rims. Daddy sure loved the colour but he chose to cheer on the red Lamborghini huracàn that was front line. The race had begun and everyone in the stands were cheering like crazy it was so intense that people started throwing trash and getting mad but it was all fun for us. The cars we were cheering on for didn't take place in anything which made us laugh but another sports car ended up taking first which was the white Lexus LC that mother had cheered for the entire time. After the racing was over we ended up heading back home and mother decided for us girls to go for a hunt. We celebrated our birthday earlier than expected because mother had to head back a week early to Dusk Manor which is a thing every year so we understood that. So we decided to spent this quality time with her before she leaves.
The next few days went by fast as mother packed her things to head back to Dusk Manor. She was suppose to leave a week ago but she ended up calling in just to extend her stay. "I'll see you girls in two days," she smiles taking her luggage to the front door as me and Shay follow behind. Dad already said his goodbyes and he left to work early this morning so mother started to say her goodbyes to us. "Make sure to go grab new uniforms because you're in the third year now so it's different. I'll send you a picture on how they look, get the supplies you'll need-" she was cut off by Shay. "Mom I think we know what to do," she smiles. Mother than wrapped her arms around us, kissing our heads before saying goodbye. We watch her load up the car and watch her leave the driveway until she disappeared. We decided to head into town to grab our stuff and prepare to leave soon I was overly excited to head back and to see our friends and see what this year will bring. I couldn't stop thinking about it and even though Carter wasn't going to be around this year that doesn't mean I'm going to hold back from all the fun. I'll need a good distraction so I plan on keeping myself busy when I arrive just so I won't end up in my room being all sad and depressed.
It was the morning of school and me and Shay were up before dad even was. We took our luggage to the vehicle to load up as me and Shay gathered our last things to take. "Today is the day, are you excited?" Shay asked putting on her shoes. I pull over my hoodie and smiled so hard she obviously knew. "Yes, okay lets go!" I yell out of excitement and used my vamp speed to jump into the passenger seat scaring dad as I hopped in. "Denice!" He jumps making me laugh as he shook his head smiling. "Sorry dad, just to excited." I replied. Shay walked out locking the house and came into the vehicle when dad backed out of the driveway to take us to our flight. We said our goodbyes to dad once we arrived it was hard to be honest but we did plan on coming to meet him in Withering Brook in a few weeks. Me and Shay took our seats when she nudged me out of my thoughts. "Ready sis?" She whispers. I smiled and said, "so ready."
