-Denice's Pov-

"Miss Denice? You're mother wants to speak with you in her office, Shay she wants you to head to the infirmary immediately and Ms.Lorraine you can head to class please," says Mr fitz. We all look at each other and shrugged our shoulders before heading our separate ways. Walking by a few other students I exchanged greets and once I came across mothers office door I knocked before walking in. "Denice my dear, come in." She smiles sitting up from her desk chair when I realize there was another presence in the room. I look to my right and see a boy who looks about my age or maybe even older, he was at least six feet tall because he was way taller than I was. He had medium brown hair with a short quiff, eyes dark brown you couldn't even see his pupils and from where I was standing I couldn't see anything. They seemed so dark. But to top it off he had facial hair, not so much of it but enough to make his features stand out more. I walked over to the front of the desk as he stood still watching every move of mine when I took the seat in front of the desk waiting for what mother had to say. "I called you in because I have a task for you to do for me today, you see this young fellow here his name is Reid Bennett he's a transfer from another school district and I'd love for you to be the one to show him to his dormitory, the school grounds, classrooms, teachers, make sure he gets his class schedule too, and maybe even try introduce him to you're friends. Get him involved and meet new people. Make him feel welcomed." Mother smiled ranting to me about this Reid who by the way is still standing in the same room. Mother gracefully talked about him like as if he wasn't even here which I turn to look at him and see he's already staring. "So you basically want me to baby sit him?" I respond crossing my arms over my chest. I hear him make a heavy hmph sounding like he's annoyed which only made me smile. "Denice stop the attitude please, I would've done it but as you can see I have a busy day of paperwork and I forgot he was going to be here today," she replied giving me her famous glare. I nodded my head and looked away when she said, "Sorry for this Mr. Bennett, but please let Denice show you around today and I'll come see you at the end of the day to see how things went okay?" I rolled my eyes and turned away when I heard him pick up his shoulder bag behind me and whispered, "I'd love that." Would it be weird that his voice gave me chills?

Before I started off the tour I decided to go to the administration office to get his schedule and to see what classes he has and to find out which household he'll be in. It was near mother's main office so I didn't have to talk much and he wasn't really talking expect staring at me for god knows what. "Okay go ask Mrs. Heller to give you you're schedule, that will indicate which house you'll be in and what classes throughout the day," I tell him. He smiles and walks away, I watch him lean over the counter like he knows exactly what he's doing and within a few seconds he got what he needed. He walks back to me holding his paper and hands it to me. "Care to see darling?" He teases. I roll my eyes taking the paper out of his hands and see the classes and that's when my eyes popped out of my sockets. Not literally but damn. "You got to be kidding me," I march back to the receptionist and said, "Are you serious, please tell me you got his classes wrong?" I pass her the paper and sense Reid coming up behind me. "Ms. Hastings I-" before she was able to respond my mother appeared around the corner and said my name in one of her angry tones. "Denice, come here right now." I leave the counter and walk towards her as she pulls me away from the office as she lectured me about my attitude. "What has gotten into you young lady, enough is enough." She angrily says. I look over through the office window and see Reid leaning on his elbows looking down at his feet but can easily notice he's eavesdropping so I quickly channeled my shield to block out his nosy ass. "Did you really have to have him in all my classes, how come you couldn't chose Shay, Ray or even Jake to watch over him why me?" I ask her. "Because you're sister went through enough as is it and I can always count on you. Plus too you'll need the distraction to keep you busy so having him around you will maintain you're mind," she responds staring into my eyes and yet I still didn't understand why it had to be me of all people. "Distraction of what? What do you mean mother?" She shook her head. "Carter, Denice. Having him away for a year is not what you expected and I know you love him but having something to do to keep you busy is what you need. It had to be you I'm sorry. I'm only trying to help you my dear," I took a step back at what she just said. Of all things it had to be this, it had to be a damn guy because I knew at the back of her mind she still didn't approve of Carter & I after these years of being together as a young couple she just had to send a guy my way to see if it will change my mind. She was playing dirty. "Mother how could you, you're putting baggage on me. What if I refuse?" I asked glaring at her. She was going to win this argument I just knew I was so different from Shay, I always challenged mother and Shay didn't. "I wont hesitate to send you back to you're father and you'll never come back to Dusk Manor. I will do it if I have to Denice." And that was that. I walked away from her losing the argument and knowing how crazy she is, she will send me away just like she said. I walked down the hall away from the office when I heard Reid running behind me catching up. "That was intense, you okay?" He asked. I didn't bother answering and took him out of the school building and towards the boys side of the dorms and into Cedric dormitories which are the truthful and charming vampires, and of coarse Reid had to be that. He must've did his little ceremony with mother to figure out which house he'll be apart and the yellow house just had to be his. After he dropped his school bag into his room his stuff was already there and I mentioned to him to go back to the grounds so I can show him around more and as we were walking back along the path in the wooden area he finally spoke. "So uh- who's Carter?" I stopped in my tracks not believing what he just asked when he realized I stopped walking. He turned around to face me with a question look, his eyebrows knitted like he was try to read my mind or something. "What did you just say?" I asked. He started laughing walking back towards me. "Come on, I know you heard me. I'm just trying to make conversation Denice," he says my name like as if he knows me. "How did you know that? Are you some kind of stalker of mine or something, if so I won't hesitate to snap you're neck I did it once before," I threaten him and yet he only smiled. "Calm down, I'm not a stalker, but I can tell you I'm one of the gifted." He mentions walking away from me and continues down the path to the school. I used my vamp speed to step in front of him so he wouldn't walk and when I realized how close I made us I took a few steps back. "You're a gifted vampire, so am I but how did you manage to find out about-" before I was able to continue my sentence he but in. "I heard the conversation between you and you're mother. I knew the conversation was going to be about me so I needed to hear what was being said about me but I didn't mean to stick my nose into something so personal and I'm sorry for that." He explained himself. I didn't care about what he heard the only thing I was still confused on is how he managed to hear the argument between mom and I when my shield was on. "I still don't get it, my gift was in use nobody shouldn't be able to hear a single thing."
