Chapter One – Alice

I looked at the man before me, his eyes down, his body tense, waiting for my response.
"They are trying to do what?" I asked angrily.
He bowed slightly at my words, nervous of my reaction.
"They want to remove you from wonderland your grace"
I paced back and forth, thinking about wonderland and it's power and vast riches, no, no one was going to take that away from me, it was mine, my family had a connection with the place, I was essential to its surviving, Wonderland could not survive without a Liddell female heir connection, every since I had found the place as a child, it had been mine, that stupid white queen had told me of the Liddell legacy, my father hadn't known or had access as a Liddell male heir but his older sister after whom I had been named had been the last link before her death when I was born.
"They can't do that, it would kill Wonderland, you're lying to me" I turn and slap the man in front of me.
He bows his head but not before I see a flash of anger in his eyes, he will pay for that later.
"They would rather die than serve you, your grace" he tells me. "But...." he catches his words falling silent.
I look at him, waiting for him to finish, he stands there in silence .
"But what Caleb?" I prompt moving to stand in front of him, grasping his chin and raising his head, my grip tight and inescapable.
"They are looking for a way around the Liddell rule, an ancestor, an alternative" he groans out.
I tense, pulling back before hitting him across the face, knocking him down to the floor where he remains, looking up at me with hate and fear in his eyes.
I start to pace again, did they know, she was a secret, no one knew, I had to keep it that way.
"Get out" I told Caleb and watched as he fled before I turned and went in search of Lily....my sister, the only other female Liddell.
