Chapter One – The Past

I remember when we ran through the trees playing tag, laughing, no pressure, no expectations, no fear.
Then my parents were called away and everything changed, my home, my friends, my life gone in the blink of an eye or in this case the tick of a bomb.
A bomb that took my parents from me, pushing me into the care of my reclusive uncle, for my safety he changed my name, for my safety he sent me to boarding school in a different country, and holidays were always last minutes at different locations around the world.
It was interesting and uncle went out of his way to educate me in everything, languages, martial arts, weapons, and all skills suited to any daughter of a spy and ward of the current head of MI7, but it was lonely.
I was not encouraged to make friends, it was safer to be alone, uncle called regularly but even with him there was distance. I hoped one day it would change.
