Chapter 5

Julia's POV

*next day*

I come down the next day to find Connor And Chris eating breakfast

"Where's Josh?"

"He's been outback all morning" Michele says from in the living room on the phone

"What's he doing out there?" I pour myself a bowl of cereal

"He's just sitting on the ground" Connor says "he didn't even eat."

I nod and make him some cereal and go out back with both the bowls. I find him sitting on the grass leaning up against the back if the house just throwing pebbles.

"Hey" I smile at him

"Oh hey jewels" he smiles at me "what are you doing out here" I sit down next to him

"I brought you breakfast" I hand him the bowl

"Thanks" he takes it

"Are you okay?" I look over at him

He just looks down playing with the cereal

"Yah I'm fine"

"Come on Joshua" I nudge him "I know your lying. Just tell me"

"I-" he sighs and looks up staring into the trees in front of us "It's just I could have cancer Julia" he leans his head back against the house

"Josh the odds of that ar-"

"Are good. it's the only thing that makes sense." he sighs "I was reading about Osteosarcoma the other night and everything only gets worse from here." he shake his head "everything goes down hill."

I sigh "you can't get all worked up about this, you don't even know if you have cancer"

"Oh yah? how many people do you know of who just get a tumor and it's not cancer like 3 out of 1,000 people maybe!" he runs his hands through his hair "I'm sorry I'm just stressed"

"It's okay" I say "now eat before I shove it down your throat"

He laughs and we eat our cereal staring off into the distance.

"Why did you come out here?" It's unlike him to want to get away from his family

He shrugs "I just needed some space to think"

"You think too much" I chuckle

"Is that a bad thing?" he looks over at me

"Yes, yes it is! Like that time in middle school when we had that resurveyed paper"

"Seriously this again!" he laughs

"Yes! and you were certain that the website we were using was wrong so you compared to a thousand different ones! Then one website was different, which was Wikapedia, and you were certain it was right and when we got the paper back we didn't get a hundred because of that"

"Are you ever going to let that go?" he smiles

"No, no I'm not!" I laugh "now come on crippled"

He glares at me as I help him up"not funny."

I shrug "I thought it was funny" I hand him his crutches

He pushes my and I stumble "Hey watch it Joshua I could push you over very easily right now" I point at him

"You wouldn't" he grins as we walk inside

"Don't doubt me, Hutcherson" I laugh

"What are you guys laughing at?" Conner asks
