audrey sighed as she played the last episode of her current tv show, getting up and heading to the kitchen and getting out some pasta and sauce for dinner.

daniel was coming home today, around midnight, so audrey decided it was a good idea to have something ready for the boys to eat.

her airbnb was small, so she could clearly hear the tv and see a part of the screen as she heated up the stove and washed her hands.

a little while later, she drained the pasta, and then added the sauce, stirring it in as she checked the time.

10:35 p.m.

she still had plenty of time.

her pasta was finally finished, and after scooping some in a bowl for her, she packed the rest of it in six tupperware boxes, stacking them on top of each other and leaving them on the kitchen counter.

she sat down with her pasta, taking a few bites, entranced in the tv, when her door bell rang.

audrey took a breath, closing her eyes for a second and putting her bowl down as she walked to the door.

she opened it slowly, meeting eyes with julian.

he walked in hesitantly, as if looking around to see if anything would attack him.

"daniel's not here,"audrey said quietly, as she led him to the couch she was sitting at.

they sat down, staring at their hands for a second as they built up the courage to talk to each other again.

"how was hawaii?" julian asked, like they were just friends.

"it was pretty good, actually, i enjoyed it," audrey replied, her hands flying to her pearl necklace.

julian noticed, saying, "that's a pretty necklace."

"daniel gave it to me," audrey said, julian's eyes narrowing for a second.

"oh. so what did you want to talk about?"

"you just need to stop. i'm really happy with daniel, and i don't want anything to ruin my relationship with him. so please, don't do anything."

julian sighed. "i wasn't going to do anything, i was just in over my head, and i'm sorry. i promise i won't do anything."

audrey smiled, her hand touching julian's as she said, "thank you," and gave him a small smile. "um, so you want some pasta? i have an extra box."

julian nodded, his eyes brightening. "yes, please, i loved your pasta."

audrey laughed, getting up and heading to the kitchen, grabbing the extra tupperware of pasta and putting in a bowl, getting a fork and handing it to julian.

he took a bite, closing his eyes as he swallowed. "just like i remembered," he said, smiling.

audrey and him sat in silence eating for a little bit, before she checked the time, jumping up.
