a tense silence filled the room as audrey and daniel walked into jonah's apartment, holding hands as they smiled at each other.
tate stared at them, head tilted to the side in confusion.
"um, what's wrong?" daniel asked as he looked at the rest of the group.
"did you not read the news?" tate asked. "i sent it to you."
"my phone's dead," daniel said, pulling his phone out.
"what happened?"
"you beat someone up, that's what happened," zach said, handing his phone to daniel with the article pulled up. "that's what TMZ says."
"what the fuck?" audrey said as she peered over daniel's shoulder, reading the words as daniel scrolled through it. "it's julian, of course it was."
"what exactly happened?" christina asked, getting up. "and why did julian go to TMZ about it?"
"he set up my apartment to make it look like i had sex with him, and when we got home he kissed me and daniel punched him. a lot of times."
"and you didn't leave a punch for me?" christina asked, before saying, "i mean, why would you punch him?"
"christina," corbyn warned. "we all hate julian, but now that daniel best him up, it's an actual problem. he could get in a lot of trouble if he presses charges."
"he's not going to," audrey said quietly. "he just wants me to come back to him. and if he presses charges i can just file a restraining order against him."
"manager's gonna call you soon, what're you gonna say?" jonah asked. "we need a plan."
"the truth, i have to," daniel said. "what else can i say?"
jonah's phone buzzed, and he handed it to daniel, mouthing a "good luck."
daniel answered, walking to jonah's bedroom as everyone waited for him to finish the call.
for the next fifteen minutes, daniel's voice rose up and down, everyone trying to listen to what he was saying.
he stormed out, tossing jonah's phone to him, jonah thankfully catching it.
"what did he say?" jack asked, patting lav's back softly. "everything okay?"
"he said julian wasn't pressing charges but he wanted to meet me tomorrow. alone."
audrey sighed. "great. but why are you so angry?"
"he also wants me to break up with you."
everyone looked at daniel in shock, their eyes wide.
"w-what?" kay asked, "he can't do that, can he?"
"i don't know what he can do. but he told me to think about it because our reputation's not very high right now. jack's now a dad and i'm beating people up," daniel scoffed.
he turned to audrey.
"i'm not breaking up with you, you mean too much to me."
audrey stood up, shaking her head. "no, no, no. you are not sacrificing your career for me. if you need to break up with me, just do it, i'm not ruining your life."
it was silent for a moment, but then christina, chewing her lip as she thought, spoke up.
"no one really knows you're dating anyway," christina said. "a bunch of the fan accounts suspect it, but they don't know."
"so just don't let anyone know that you're dating," gabbie said, "no pictures, dates in very private places, it should be fine. just lay low for a little."
daniel nodded. "yeah, we can do that, right?"
he looked at audrey hopefully, who closed her eyes, thinking, her fingers touching her pearl necklace.
she looked at daniel, nodding her head. "yeah, we can just secretly date."
"it's not that different from what you guys were doing before anyway, just don't associate yourselves with each other at all," tate said.
"how can we do that now? everyone knows i hang out with you guys," audrey asked. "and if i'm friends with the girls then that means that i'm probably friends with the boys."
christina shrugged. "easy, we just post something on instagram about you being single, and the fans are probably gonna believe it."
"so are you gonna tell your manager you're breaking up with me?"audrey asked.
"yeah, jonah?" daniel motioned towards his phone, and jonah handed it to him.
"i'm breaking up with you, audrey," daniel said, a huge smile on his face.
audrey chuckled, slapping daniel's shoulder. "go call your manager, idiot."
