I think Ethan was trying to cram ten years worth of sleep into a day. After we had eaten, we had cleaned up, then we had lain down again, but I was awake as Ethan snored gently next to me. It said a lot for his comfort, it was the first time I had ever heard a noise from him while he slept, and sleep he did, if it wasn't for his breathing, I would have thought him dead. But with all this, there was one problem: I was desperate to use the toilet, but Ethan was cuddling me like I was his favourite teddy bear.

A moment later, I thanked the gods as a knock at the door had Ethan springing awake, into a crouch, watching, waiting. I think it took him a moment to look at his surroundings. To remember that we were no longer in his cave. Slowly he stood, and I waited for him to turn back to looking at me before I moved off the bed slowly, one because I didn't want to wet myself – how embarrassing would that be? – and two I didn't want to spook Ethan.

As I went to the bathroom and closed the door, I heard Ethan open the door out to the hallway. There was a feminine gasp of surprise, I was prepared to rush out just in case, but then I heard a female speak.

"I'm really sorry, Sir, but I have been asked to tell you that the police had only book you in until ten o'clock today... it's gone over that and we need the room for our next clients."

There was a pause and I could picture the stare Ethan was giving her. I knew his stare was working by the "I really am sorry..."

Finishing in the bathroom as quickly as I could, I left in a rush, "OW!" and walked into the door, having not pulled it open enough in time. A moment later Ethan was in my vision, looking concerned.

"I'm fine, I'm fine," I told him, waving him off to leave the bathroom, rubbing my nose which was throbbing in pain from the sudden collision.

"Are you okay?" a dark haired girl asked from the doorway. She never made a move to enter the room to help, then I wouldn't have either if I was in her shoes, I could feel Ethan hovering like a protective blanket.

"I'm fine, and we will leave once we have gathered our things."

"Okay, great, thank you," and it was genuine from the girl who then left us to it, clearly relieved that she could not only leave, but that her visit had been a success. Now I only wondered if I would be just as successful with Ethan.
