"For the first five years, we had as much media presence as we could get. As much law enforcement as we could get involved to search for you," we had moved into the living room at mums insistence, and that was when Derek had started to tell us his side of the story. "After that, people started to give up, the police said that either you were dead, or somewhere we could never find you, in another country... They didn't know and there was no evidence of anything so they all just gave up."

There was a heavy pause as we all let Derek's story settle in the space around us. Ethan was gripping my hand, it was the only way that I knew that Derek's words had effected him.

"Did you?" I asked Derek.

"What?"

"Did you give up searching for him?" another squeeze told me that I had just asked a question Ethan had been dying to ask himself.

"No," Derek was firm when he said it. "If we had, I wouldn't be here. Mum wanted to come, but dad and I told her no... in case we were mistaken and you weren't who we thought you were... God she's going to be so god damn happy to see you–" Derek paused and eyed Ethan up. "Do you want to see them?"

Ethan's hand shook in response to Derek's question. I knew what his answer was. But still he said nothing. As the silence went on, I saw Derek's face begin to close off in disappointment.

"He would love to," I spoke up, making both men turn to look at me, Ethan nodded in agreement.

"Will you come and meet them?" Ethan asked.

Looking into his dark eyes, I nodded. "Of course I will."

"But, Morgan," mum's voice made me turn to her. "You have only just got back home."

"And I'll come back home, but Ethan needs to go home too."

It didn't take long for mum to cross the room and wrap me in her arms as I stood to receive her hug. "Just make sure you come back, Morgan."

"Always."

As we pulled away, I heard Derek sigh in relief. "Okay then, I'll get the transport ready."
