When I woke up, I learnt the worst thing I could have learnt. We were back in France. The very place that Ethan and I had fought to leave, and now we were back. Ethan was nudging me awake, saying that we had just landed and ready to get off the aeroplane. I wanted to stay on the plane and demand we go back, but I knew that Ethan wouldn't have let Derek bring us here if it wasn't where we were meant to go. Or at least I hoped that was the case.
As I climbed off Ethan's lap, and stretched, I felt Ethan stand and press against me, but it was more like he was wrapping himself around me to hide. "Why are we back in France?"
"Because that's where mum and dad are staying at the moment," Derek said. "Are you guys coming?"
Ethan tugged me with him as he disembarked the plane, me in tow. He swapped to my other side when Derek moved up with us. I saw Derek raise a brow at the action... then he smirked and winked at me. Though I didn't know Derek, I knew that he was about to dangerously tease Ethan.
While Ethan was looking at the car we were walking towards – another expensive model, Derek swapped sides so that he was standing next to me. "You know, you're not the type of girl that I would have thought Ethan would have gone for."
I stepped closer to Ethan, sending Derek a glare, understanding that he was trying to irritate Ethan. "You're not the type of brother that I would have thought Ethan would have had either."
"And what type is that?"
"The type to annoy a brother you haven't seen in ten years."
Derek was startled by my answer and paused for a moment before catching up. "Tough girl. Maybe you are his type after all."
Climbing into the car, I was starting to feel cheap as I realised, just like the first car, the aeroplane, and now this car was of an expensive make. Though the jet alone said just how much money the Hunter family had to it's name. I wanted to go home, I wanted to stay with Ethan. I didn't know what to do with the knowledge that Ethan came from money, and a lot of it.
As the pilot got into the front of the car and started to drive, Ethan got stiffer and stiffer the further we drove. Taking his hand in mine, I replicated his motion from earlier, soft, gentle circles on the back of his hand. He didn't calm down, but he did lift my hand to brush his lips over the back of my hand so say that he understood.
By the time that we had arrived and entered through large iron gates that looked like ivy, and drove up a long driveway towards a house that looked too big to be a house, I felt as nervous as I think Ethan did. We sat in the car, staring at the house with fear and awe.
"Are you guys getting out, or staring at the house for the rest of the day?" Derek snapped us out of our hesitation.
Getting out the car, the front door opened at the same time.
