"We need to go, Ethan!"
Ten minutes had past with me telling Ethan this, and he was still ignoring me. Once the girl had left, he had closed the door and to my shock, had moved a chair to place it under the handle so that people from outside would struggle to get in. I hadn't moved it, not yet, and I still wasn't sure why he had done it.
"Ethan!" I was getting annoyed now. He was ignoring me to the point of laying on the bed pretending to be asleep like a child that refused to hear the word "no", I could almost see him him putting his fingers in his ears and going "nope, can't hear you", it was frustrating.
Staring at him, I had to admit that he looked good sprawled out on the bed, but one thing kept me from joining him: I wanted to see my family. "Fine, I'll go by myself then."
Turning for the door, I was just about to move the chair when I felt his heat at my back. I hadn't heard him move, not that I was surprised, the jungle had taught him to move without a whisper. His hand came down on mine before I could touch the chair, gripping my hand, he used it to spin me. A gasp of surprise left me as he pushed me back against the door, the hard wood unmoving at my back.
He never said anything, instead, his lips came crashing down on mine like an unforgiving predator, determined and strong. I gasped again when his hands gripped my thighs and he lifted me so that he wouldn't have to bend to kiss me, the door held my back, and hands held my legs, it still surprised me how strong he was, I could feel the muscles working in his arms, and it made me kiss him back.
Pressing his body into me, I wasn't sure there was even a breath of air between us, I could feel my chest crushed up against his, and it made me hotter to kiss him back. Tongues danced, bodies brushed, and as he pulled away to run his lips up and down my chin so that we could breath, I realised that my hands were gripping his hair to hold him close. As I breathed to get my breath back – which was hard with his lips running up and down near my ear, I understood that this was Ethan's way of saying that we were safe in here, in this room. We weren't safe out there, it was a jungle out there, but instead of trees and hybrid wolves, it was human beings and tall walls.
Holding him close, it was tempting to stay here with him. To never leave either the safety or him behind, but it would be another prison. Trees and rock, to brick, wood and glass. No, we had to go, I just hoped he would still come with me.
