I found myself waking up, cheek resting on Ethan's chest, a blanket covering us as we had apparently fallen asleep snuggled on the couch. I couldn't, nor did I want to stop the urge, to snuggle deeper into Ethan, inhale his scent that had me snuggling so deep into him there wasn't space between us. A press of lips on my head told me that Ethan was awake.
"Mornin'," I was fully aware of the huskiness of my own voice, and it made me blush – but lucky for me, Ethan couldn't see my face as it was snuggled into his chest.
"Morning, Morgan," his voice held an edge of humour, and also an edge of his own deep huskiness that said that he too had only just woken up. "Your mother has made us breakfast."
That woke me up and I sat tall, still straddling his legs – I hadn't moved from my position from last night, and Ethan hadn't moved me from it either. A heavy lightness filled me, it felt suspiciously like I was falling that little more love with him.
"Come on then," I told him, crawling off to stand up. "You can't beat mums home-made breakfast."
Ethan's hands held my waist as I crawled off him. He looked like he wanted to pull me back onto his lap and forget the breakfast, but it was my stomach rumbling that had him moving instead to stand up. He didn't let go when he was standing, instead, he moved one hand to stroke my cheek with his thumb, "Then let's go."
It took me a moment to process what he had said, my heart was pumping so loudly in my ears. Nodding, I turned to head out the room, Ethan followed me out, hand on my waist, and it was a weight on my side that I hoped would never leave.
