Happy (late) Thanksgiving :) Sorry it took so long to update, I haven't been getting as much inspiration as I used to but I'm trying my hardest to get this finished for you all :P
"We're going to the Lightstone."
Leafpelt stared at Frostpaw, waiting for the young cat's protests.
"Leafpelt..." Frostpaw trailed off. How could she explain, when explaining would give it all away?
"Don't make an excuse, we're going." Leafpelt looked like she didn't want to speak about the matter, like it was something really important.
"But-"
"No buts, you're going," Leafpelt meowed. She padded away, leaving a conflicted (I USE BIG PERSON WORDS!) Frostpaw behind.
I was going to meet Tigerfrost tonight though... Frostpaw thought sadly. Besides, Leafpelt knew how Frostpaw felt around the Lightstone! And yet if I want to truly be a medicine cat, I have to go there...do I want to be a medicine cat that badly, enough to destroy my chances of being with any cat, let alone Tigerfrost?
"Hey, Frostpaw..." Lynxheart padded in. "I'm guessing you're meeting with Tigerfrost tonight."
Frostpaw was confused. "No..." She lied.
"Still a terrible lier, you are," Lynxheart purred. "It's fine. He told me he wasn't seeing me any more, so I knew it was about you."
"He what?" Frostpaw was shocked. Tigerfrost got rid of Lynxheart to be with her. She felt like she should be happy he cared that much, but anger filled her soul. He hurt her sister. He broke her heart. Tigerfrost wasn't who she thought he was.
"I'm not seeing him tonight, though," Frostpaw hissed. "Never again."
"Why?" Lynxheart sounded exasperated.
Frostpaw had to cover up what she thought of him, so that Lynxheart didn't feel even worse for telling her. "I have to go to the Lightstone tonight," she meowed. She smiled to herself. It wasn't a lie, Leafpelt wouldn't let her not go, but it worked to cover it up.
"What about other nights?" Lynxheart asked.
"I don't want cats getting suspicious. Besides, Lynxheart, I'm becoming a medicine cat. I can't mate with anyone, even in my own Clan! And I couldn't possibly go mate with an OakClan cat who just happens to be Clawfur's son!" Frostpaw was on a roll. She knew what she was doing. "Besides, he liked you, and then I tore you two apart. I'll never get over the guilt if I keep seeing him."
"Frostpaw..." Lynxheart looked both sad and happy. "I thought that after the way I treated you, you'd want nothing to do with me besides hurt me. And yet you still defend me."
"You're my sister, Lynxheart. We stay together," Frostpaw purred.
Lynxheart smiled. "Thanks."
Leafpelt ran into the den suddenly. She looked terrified. "Get out of here! There are Twolegs attacking our camp!"
Frostpaw and Lynxheart looked at each other. "We've got to fight!" Lynxheart meowed.
Frostpaw's eyes widened. "I don't think that's a good idea, they could be armed..."
"Please, I need you two to protect the Roseheart, she thinks her kits are coming soon. Frostpaw, I need to go fight. Can you help Roseheart?" Frostpaw and Lynxheart widened their eyes. They'd completely forgotten about Roseheart saying she was going to have a second litter!
"Uh...okay," Frostpaw stammered.
"I'll help too," Lynxheart added.
They heard yowls from cats outside and smelled Twolegs. Roseheart burst into the den with Rainstorm at her side, both of them looking nervous and terrified.
"It hurts, Leafpelt, it hurts!" Roseheart moaned.
"Frostpaw and Lynxheart are going to help, Roseheart," Leafpelt soothed her. "Just follow them."
Rainstorm looked expectant. "What about me? I need to go with her, I've got to protect her."
"Then go, but I need to fight. Frostpaw, take any herbs you need for Roseheart," Leafpelt instructed. Frostpaw nodded and started picking up the herbs.
Frostpaw felt a surge of strength spark in her mind, and she felt like a real medicine cat. She was a completely different cat, knowing exactly what herbs she'd need and what to do.
"Frostpaw, where should we go?" Lynxheart asked, a bit nervous.
"To the Lightstone," Frostpaw replied without thinking. Wait, what?
"The Lightstone?!" Lynxheart repeated, astonished.
Frostpaw nodded. "Trust me."
Lynxheart looked a bit hesitant at first, then became serious and nodded. "I do."
"Roseheart, stay between Lynxheart and Rainstorm. I know some secret ways out of the Clan (totally not like she knew then from meeting with Tigerfrost...o.o I'm sorry but I had to) that we can use. Follow me," Frostpaw instructed. The cats all nodded, and Frostpaw felt like a leader, almost. They were all listening to her.
The cats started crouching as they made their way to an escape. Frantic cries from both their Clanmates and Twolegs could be head.
Suddenly a dog's bark was heard from close behind them. Frostpaw turned and widened her eyes as she realized she was face to face with a snarling, giant dog. "Run!" she meowed, and the cats turned and started running. Frostpaw saw the way out behind the nursery. "Over there!" she called.
Lynxheart was the first one through. She guided Roseheart out. Rainstorm came out after, supporting Roseheart as much as he could. Frostpaw slipped through the hole, the dog right at her paws.
"Follow me, and don't stop running!" she instructed as they darted through the forest. "Roseheart, are you able to climb a tree or do you need more strength?" she asked.
Roseheart looked panicked. "I-I think I can climb," she panted.
"Okay," Frostpaw nodded. "Climb up this next tree, guys!" she ordered. The cats obeyed, and they all jumped with their claws outstretched onto the tree. Roseheart seemed a bit wobbly as she climbed, but Rainstorm helped her to the top. Frostpaw and Lynxheart climbed onto the branch and looked down at the dog, who was non-stop frantically barking at them.
"Shut up, you mangy mutt!" Lynxheart hissed. Her tail was fluffed up and she had her claws out, clinging to the branch.
"Ah!" Roseheart yelped. Rainstorm looked nervous. "My kits-they're coming!"
Frostpaw froze. She didn't know how she could do it. There was a dog trapping them in the tree, Roseheart needed help for kitting, and their Clanmates could be dying from the Twolegs as they sat there. What am I supposed to do? I'm not even a real medicine cat yet! Frostpaw started to panic. She took deep breaths. She had to do something. But what?
