"What?!" Applepaw exclaimed. She widened her eyes and unsheathed her claws, ready to fight. Then confusion took over her expression. "Why are you coming to us instead of elder warriors?"

"Because of the prophecy!" Frostpaw mewed.

Brightpaw and Eaglepaw padded over. "Prophecy?" Brightpaw meowed.

Frostpaw flattened her ears. "Um..."

Applepaw hated lying, but the prophecy had to be kept secret. "Frostpaw was talking about Mistyleaf, how she was prophesied to save the Clans," she explained.

"Oh," Eaglepaw meowed. "Is Wolfpaw on the dawn patrol?"

Frostpaw's eyes widened. "Yes!" she cried. "And the dawn patrol is under attack! Lynxpaw, Gingerpaw, and Wolfpaw are on it! So is Sunstar!"

The apprentices, instead of telling the warriors, ran as fast as they could to the river where the patrol was being attacked. There was blood streaking the muddy ground next to the river, and frightened yowls rang in Applepaw's ears. She sensed the movement of the cats fighting like she had when she found Gingerpaw as kits. She knew they were close.

Dawnpaw scrambled into the "patrol" of apprentices, with Mistyleaf, Roseheart, Thunderclaw, Snowflake, and Night behind her. The apprentices turned around and looked at the warriors and their deputy. Applepaw stepped forward to explain everything, but Mistyleaf stopped her.

"You're not doing this alone," she purred. "And although you all can fight amazingly, a few apprentices won't be able to defeat a whole patrol."

Applepaw knew that Mistyleaf was right. Snowflake padded over to her. "Maybe the battle techniques I taught you will come in handy," she meowed as they ran to where the cats fought. Applepaw nodded.

The cats followed Mistyleaf, who, of course, was the fastest and in the lead. She darted in and out between the bushes and trees, as if she knew the fastest route to the battle. Which, Applepaw realized, she probably did. As an apprentice, and warrior, Mistyleaf had run through the territory so many times that she memorized every part of it.

Applepaw saw Ravenpaw signal to Frostpaw with his tail. Frostpaw then looked at Applepaw and did the same thing. Applepaw had no idea what they meant, but followed Ravenpaw when he branched off from the group along with Frostpaw.

Once the cats stopped running, Frostpaw explained why they were there. "Lynxpaw and I spoke about our powers, and we figured out a way for her to find us. She can teleport, and I'm telepathic. Also, I can send messages and pictures to any cat with my mind, so I can show her we we are so she'll teleport here."

Frostpaw closed her eyes. Applepaw crossed her paws back and forth, exchanging glances with Ravenpaw as they waited. Applepaw started thinking about the feelings she had for the black cat, how whenever he was around she felt like she was running in a field of flowers and mice with him.

Just as Applepaw was about to say something to Ravenpaw, Lynxpaw appeared out of nowhere. She looked at the three cats and cheered. "It worked!"

Applepaw noticed Ravenpaw looking annoyed, and a bit upset. She could understand why. Frostpaw could read minds, Lynxpaw could teleport wherever she wanted go go, and all he could do was lift things in the air without touching them.

"Nice job, guys," Ravenpaw murmured.

Frostpaw heard him. "Thanks!" she purred, licking Lynxpaw's ear.

"Guys, can we go help now?" Applepaw asked after glancing to see if Lynxpaw was okay.

The cats nodded, and ran to the battle.

Brightpaw and Eaglepaw were backed up against a tree by two cats. They trembled, since the cats were much larger than them. As one went in the claw them, Night jumped on him and clawed fur off his back. The cat yowled and looked at Night. But Night had become a large cat as well, and in battle he looked fearsome. The cat backed away, then ran, followed by his companion.

Snowflake padded over to her brother and licked his ear. He purred, then "said" something to her with tail movements. It was their version of sign language, since Night was mute.

Frostpaw and Lynxpaw dashed into battle, followed by Dawnpaw and Roseheart. "Let's do this!" Lynxpaw cried excitedly as she leaped onto an invader's back and dug her claws into it.

A sweet scent drafted into Applepaw's nose. A tail intertwined with hers and a voice said, "We need to find Sunstar." Ravenpaw. Applepaw nodded, and, not unlocking their tails, the two apprentices followed their leader's scent.

Applepaw froze. "Sunstar is in trouble. He's cornered and bleeding badly," she meowed. Her keen senses were kicking in. Sunstar's attacker's scent was familiar to her, but she couldn't remember whose scent it was.

Lynxpaw looked at the cats. "I'm going to find Gingerpaw and Wolfpaw," she meowed. Then she teleported away. Applepaw was a bit annoyed, since Gingerpaw was her sister, not Lynxpaw's. But she knew that Gingerpaw and Lynxpaw were good friends, yet she couldn't suppress the growl of annoyance at it.

Shaking away the thoughts, Applepaw focused on finding Sunstar. Ravenpaw ran up next to her, claws scratching against the dirt.

"Applepaw, are you sure that we can do this?" Ravenpaw asked uncertainly.

Applepaw gave him a long, hard stare. "Of course we can," she growled before speeding ahead of him.

She heard him call her, but Applepaw wouldn't stop running. She had to save Sunstar, no matter what Ravenpaw thought.

"Sunstar?" she called. But there was no reply. She was completely alone, without even Ravenpaw to comfort her.

A cat barreled into her and pinned her to the ground. He was a huge cat and smelled of OakClan, but also faintly of another familiar scent. He had black fur with brown stripes (I mix it up, it might be the other way around, brown fur with black stripes) and a snarl that made him look even more menacing.

"I know you," he growled. Familiar voice. Suddenly Applepaw knew who he was.

"Clawfur?" She couldn't understand. Mistyleaf killed him, didn't she? Or did she let him go?

"Mistyleaf, that stupid mouse-heart, she let me go. She told me to never return to BirchClan...but I never promised," Clawfur purred, flexing his claws. Applepaw lashed her tail back and forth.

"Why didn't she kill you?" she mewed.

"She said that she hated me, for killing Mossystar, for forcing her brothers to turn away from her, and for trying to take over the forest. But she said she couldn't kill me, thinking I had a bit of good in me," Clawfur meowed. "And I guess she was right. I came to OakClan, weak and powerless. They nursed me back to health. And I found a new mate. Her name was Soottail, and she loved me. So, I took advantage of that love and we had an offspring."

Applepaw wondered how anyone could love such a cat, but maybe he pretended to be good. He was good at acting, since he made everyone in BirchClan believe him.

"I can bring you into OakClan," Clawfur meowed suddenly.

"How, and why?" Applepaw asked.

"Because," Clawfur said simply, "you are my daughter."

To Be Continued

I'M NOT DEAD!

I'm sorry I made you wait so long! I had graduation rehearsals and softball games and other stories and I forgot about this one. And now I leave you with a cliffhanger, I'm literally the most annoying person ever. One last thing, if you comment something, I can't read it or reply to it because of some stupid glitch. It makes it so I can't look at chapters of books or comments, and I hate it...can someone help? I use a Kindle fire to make my books.

One more thing. I'm going on a vacation for two weeks soon and won't have any internet connection whatsoever, so I can't write. But I'll write as much as I can for the rest of the week so I can post more chapters when I'm home.

Ok I'm done.
