lol what am I even doing, I reread this book and it's such trash what was sixth/seventh grade me thinking

also if you want to know why I was dead for like two years I made a book explaining it, you should probably go read that

one last thing: if this isn't that accurate to the story, I'm sorry. I haven't written this book in forever, so I hardly remembered the characters or the prophecies or ALL OF MY CLICHES (i'm so sorry for how many cliches i used like rereading this left me in pAIN) this chapter's also a little on the shorter side cuz I'm not sure if I'll be continuing this with big chapters (if at all) due to realizing how bad it is imo and me not really being in the Warriors fandom much anymore. but hey let's try this, hopefully it's better written than the other chapters because I think I've improved in my writing yay

Mistyleaf flew through the brush, trying (but failing) to keep quiet as she ran. She broke though some branches, cutting herself, but she ignored the pain and kept running. Please, Lightstar... She thought.

She can't be dead. She doesn't have many lives left. This wouldn't happen. No! Mistyleaf was panicking.  Ugh, stop thinking about this and just go!

"Mistyleaf, wait up!" The nervous shriek broke her out of her thoughts. She slowed her pace slightly, letting Quailheart and Applefall catch up.

Suddenly, they all came to an abrupt stop and momentarily stared, motionless, at the scene that had just unfolded in front of them.

Lightstar lay on the ground, the claws of another cat deep in her neck. Her eyes were wide open, nothing but pure terror to be shown in them. Blood gushed out of a wound on her leg, which was most likely what made her cry out and then immobilized her on the ground. But it wasn't the state of Lightstar's body that Mistyleaf was focused on.

It was the black-striped brown cat with blood covering his fur, claws unsheathed and stained red from the sticky liquid they were sitting in. He had a crazed look in his eyes, a manic smile sitting on his face.

"C-cla-" She started, but he stopped her.

"Don't say a word just yet." He yanked his claws out of poor Lightstar's neck, and she fell limp on the dirt. Sneering, and probably trying to disgust the she-cats standing before him, he licked the blood off of his claws. "It's been a while since we've spoken. Hasn't it, Mistyleaf?" He spat her name out like venom, managing to send a shiver down her spine.

Even though she was definitely scared out of her mind seeing a clan leader most likely dead on the ground, Mistyleaf didn't back away from him and locked her eyes with his. "Why...why are you here?" The words came out shakily, making her regret her decision to speak without calming herself down more first, but she knew that she couldn't just remain silent in from of someone like him.

Clawfur cocked his head curiously, his sharp bloodstained teeth out on display. "How about you tell me, sweetheart?" He asked, stepping towards her. Mistyleaf couldn't fight the urge to back away, taking a step back, and her show of weakness to Clawfur only made his dangerous smile wider. "I'd absolutely love to hear your guess."

Beside her, Applefall noticeably tensed, as though she was getting ready to pounce. "We aren't going to play your games, you monster," she growled, lacing her words with pure hatred. "Tell us why you're here."

The tom-cat let out an exaggerated sigh, his grin falling into a clearly fake sad face. "You're no fun, you know that?" He mumbled, hardly audible to the she-cats. "Why should I tell you? It's not like you'd believe me." At this, he started laughing, managing to sound even more insane than before.

Mistyleaf took a second to actually analyze Clawfur, realizing that he looked pretty strange (even with his normal appearance standards). Parts of his fur were matted and messy, yet other areas seemed overly groomed, as if he'd been obsessively cleaning himself in those areas.  Red marks decorated his legs and chest, fur caked in blood, although oddly enough lots of the blood seemed dry. The strange thing about all of his cuts and scratches were that the majority were in places where the most likely cause of the harm was Clawfur doing it to himself.

"W-what...why do you look like that?" Applefall, who seemed to have noticed Clawfur's odd appearance as well, dared to ask.

Clawfur turned to the side, looking at the trees around him, the trunks stained with blood (most likely Lightstar's). He stayed silent for a while, seemingly lost in thought as he looked up at the canopy, watching rays of sun peek through the many leaves down upon the cats. The blood on his fur seemed to shine a little under the sunlight, glistening as the new splotches of red he'd just attained were drying.

Suddenly, he looked back at them, eyes wide, a dangerous smile stretched across his face. His pupils were dilated, glancing between the three she-cats frantically, his claws suddenly out all the way, digging deep into the dirt beneath them. A growl rose up out of his throat, although it didn't sound like how it should've sounded. Rather than sounding threatening, Clawfur's was smaller and weaker, which would've caused Mistyleaf to become confused if she wasn't busy readying herself for what looked like Clawfur about to attack.

"Mistyleaf...something's wrong." Applefall whispered, readying herself as well as they watched Clawfur's sudden outburst, the tomcat looking around frantically in what looked like a mix of terror and excitement. Mistyleaf could only nod in response, entirely focused on watching his every move. "I've got a ba-"

Lightstar's ears twitched, her eyes opening wide as she jumped up off the ground in shock and horror. Her breaths came out in heavy pants, her wounds still bleeding badly. She looked to Clawfur, her breaths getting caught in her throat as she saw how he was acting. Within seconds, Clawfur's head had snapped towards her, surprise clear on his face. He froze for a few seconds, looking her over like a piece of prey.

Mistyleaf was the first to realize what he was doing. "Lightstar, run!" She shouted, forcing herself out of her focused trance and attempting to run to the possibly already dying leader. Clawfur's attention diverted to her for a second as she dashed towards them, but only a second.

He turned back towards Lightstar, giving her a devious smirk.

And then he pounced.
