Nadine's POV

"So, how are the arrangements for the company management so far?" Tanong ko kay Lance as I looked up at him from across the dinner table that Friday evening.

Napatingin siya sa akin, at may namuong ngiti sa mga labi niya.

"So far, everything is going smoothly. By next month, after the finale concert, I'll be starting my training." Sagot niya.

Tumango ako.

A few weeks ago kasi, bigla na lang nag-public announcement ang CURSE, saying that they were officially disbanding. Nakakagulat nga yung news na yun since the band was still at the peak of its career. I tried asking Lance for the reason, but all he said was that all the band members were planning to leave the group soon enough. Kung tutuusin, nalaman kong nag-quit na pala si Andrea bilang bassist nila. Sina Ralph at Camille naman, binigyan ng job offer na maging regular performers sa isang sikat na TV show sa Singapore. As for Alex, siya na yung bagong guitar instructor sa music company na pinagmamay-ari ng dad ni Lance, which of course Lance will be inheriting after some time. But before all of that, they'll be having their finale concert as a goodbye gift for all of their fans.

Oh yeah, I'm sure that you guys are wondering where we are right now. Well you see, today is Lance's 25th birthday, and as his treat, he took me to dinner. A candlelit one in fact. I know, romantic.

Pero sa totoo lang, biglaan lang rin yung pag-alok niya sa akin. After all, I didn't expect him to be taking me out tonight since we already planned to celebrate with Jasmine and the others tomorrow. But of course, that doesn't mean na ayokong mag-spend ng quality time alone with him. Frankly speaking, I'm grateful that we're on a date especially on this very special day.

But somehow, something was off with Lance tonight. Ewan ko lang talaga kung bakit, pero he doesn't seem to be in his usual self. Hindi ganun ka-casual at relaxed ang mga galaw niya. It's as though there was something bothering him. Halos wala ngang bawas yung roast beef na inorder niya, and that was his favorite food. And I've noticed that he's been fidgeting several times throughout the dinner. Parang nga namang naiilang siya.

"Is there something wrong?" Hindi ko mapigilang itanong.

Mukhang nabigla naman siya sa tanong ko. He blinked back several times and shook his head.

"Wala. Bakit mo naman natanong?" Sabi niya.

I looked at him doubtfully and sighed.

"You seem to be distracted all night. May problema ba?"

Umiling siya.

"Don't worry. Wala talaga." Paninigurado niya, kahit halatang meron naman talaga.

I sighed again and tried to continue eating my bowl of green salad. Pero after a few bites, nawalan na talaga ako ng gana. I pushed my plate forward and emptied my water glass.

"Tapos ka na?" Tanong ni Lance.

Tumango ako at pinunasan ang bibig ko gamit ng table napkin. Tinawag ni Lance ang waiter para hingiin ang resibo. Pagkatapos niyang magbayad ay agad kaming dumiretso palabas ng restaurant.

"Saan tayo pupunta?" Tanong ko pagkapasok namin sa kotse niya.

Lance slid on his seatbelt and started the engine.
