When Taeyong got the call from Sicheng's boss he was horrified, he's been trying so hard to help Sicheng through whatever it is he's going through but it's obviously not enough.
He feels partly at fault for this even though he really shouldn't.
He's not a hundred percent sure of what happened but figures it has to do with his lack of eating.
He quickly calls his boss and asks if he can close early. He works at a small cafe, kind of off the beaten path so they don't usually have an influx of customers this time of night.
When his boss agrees he quickly flips the sign, but not before one last customer enters. He sighs deeply then tries to hide his disappointment and as kindly as possible takes the mans order.
"What can I get for you tonight?" The man looks up from his menu with his dark brown eyes boring into his own. Taeyong is taken aback by his beauty even though it's mostly masked by his dirty and disheveled appearance.
"Can I just get a coffee, black and a piece of whatever cake you have on hand?" The man who now seems more like a lost boy smiles showing his pretty white teeth amongst the dirt around his face.
"Sure, is chocolate ok?" He nods his head quickly.
"Chocolate is my favorite, I'm just going to wash up in the bathroom first." He says standing and picking up a raggedy duffel bag that Taeyong just noticed.
He walked behind the counter and prepared the coffee then plated the biggest piece of cake he could find since it looked like he needed it.
He quickly rang up the order and paid with his own cash, then he shut down the register before the customer came back.
When he noticed he was sitting comfortably he took it to him, setting it down in front of him quietly. He didn't want to startle the boy that was rummaging through his bag.
"How much do I owe you?" He asks counting the change in his hand.
"Nothing, it's on me tonight. I closed out the register earlier so I can't take your money anyway." He says smiling kindly. The boy then squints his eyes at him with a hint of anger deep within them.
"Why? Because I'm poor? Do you feel sorry for me for being so pitiful? I am not a charity case so if you could kindly tell me what I owe you I will pay you for my stuff." Taeyong sighs, he was afraid this could happen, that the boys pride would be hurt but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to help.
"I really don't think any of those things, I was just trying to be nice. You know, pay it forward. I'm sorry if I offended you but you really shouldn't sit here making assumptions about me when I'm only trying to be a friend.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to clean up so I can leave." He walked away toward the kitchen and started cleaning furiously to let out his frustration.

After a long time of just cleaning, when he was almost done he heard someone clear their throat. He looks up to see the cute boy whom he now knows has a temper.
"I'm sorry if I was harsh earlier, I just. I feel bad not paying my own way, I vowed to my family that when I came here I could make it on my own." He looks down sadly.
"I've been here five years and I live in public housing, when they have room, otherwise under the bridge down the street is where I live, for the last week anyway.
Thank you though, really. I'll use the money I saved tomorrow for my meal." He smiles brightly again but Taeyong being the caring person that he is will have none of this, he will take him home and feed him if he has to.
"Come with me." He says out of the blue which surprises the boy.
"Wh-What do you mean come with you? You don't even know me. I could be a thief or a murderer. We don't even know each other's names." Taeyong smiles warmly and sticks out his hand.
"Lee Taeyong, nice to meet you." The other stands there silently for a moment, trying to figure out if this guy is for real.
"Uh, Chittaphon leechaiyapornkul." Taeyong smiles again.
"You must be Thai? You have a cute accent." Chittaphon blushes under the others intense gaze.
"Come on, I'm going to the hospital to visit my friend and could use some company because he'll probably sleep the whole time anyway."
Chittaphon laughs it off but he can clearly see the worry in Taeyong's eyes.
"Is it something serious? I don't want to impose on your time or anything." Taeyong's eyes soften.
"I'm not sure really, he's been struggling lately I've tried to help him, tried to understand him but I don't know. I just can't get through to him and I feel so bad that I can't do anything to help." Taeyong started tearing up so Chittaphon grabs his hand and squeezes it softly.
"Come on, I want to meet your friend. If he's friends with you he must be nice." He keeps talking, trying to distract Taeyong from his worry.
"You were right you know. I am Thai and you can call me Ten, but don't ever call me cute again." He says with his arms crossed, slightly pouting but trying to look serious.
"I'm sorry but I can't do that because that was the cutest thing I've ever seen." Taeyong says laughing at the red faced boy who's now stomping his feet.
"I'm not cute, I'm sexy and manly." Taeyong laughs harder.
"Ok ok, sexy it is then." Ten turns and walks the other direction, the heat in his face is unbearable now. Taeyong quickly catches up and pulls him back toward him, and they continue walking.
"You are only allowed to call me Ten." The distraction is working because they are only two blocks away from the hospital now.
"So why Ten? What kind of nickname is that?"
Ten giggles, he gets asked this a lot.
"I was doing a gig once in Korea where my parents moved us for a better education and everyone had a hard time pronouncing my name so that day I tried to think of something shorter. I was on the spot and blurted out Ten and I've had it ever since.
(Disclaimer, I honestly don't know how he got the name so therefore I made something up!)

As soon as the story was finished they had arrived, Taeyong went immediately to the front desk and was told where to go.
Taeyong doesn't know what he was expecting when he walked in there but Sicheng's boss sleeping by his side, holding his hand wasn't it.
He walked silently and tapped the man on the shoulder and watched as he slowly woke up taking in his surroundings.
He looked up to Taeyong and smiled.
"You must be Taeyong? I'm glad you could come." He stands up, using the hand that wasn't holding Sicheng's to shake the others.
Taeyong stood there in surprise watching the man explain everything the doctor said, while not letting go of his hand.
Did Sicheng have a boyfriend that he kept a secret? He listens as well as possible even with all these questions swirling through his mind.
"So please, watch him and take care of him if possible." Yuta finished still holding the hand.
"Are you related? Or dating?" Taeyong chokes.
"Neither. We're roommates, we go to the same school." Yuta nods and turns to Sicheng lying there getting the much needed sleep that he deserves. He gently moves the hair out of his eyes and brings the hand up, leaving an almost non existent kiss on his knuckle. Taeyong and Ten are still, just watching the whole scene play out.
He finally lets his hand go but immediately misses its warmth, he has to take his leave now but honestly doesn't want to.
"Well I should be going, remember what I said. You need to take care of him. With that Yuta only glanced one last time at the sleeping boy and walked out.
Taeyong takes the spot Yuta was in and now holds Sicheng's hand. He sits quietly for a moment until he can't control the sobs coming from deep within him. Ten is quick to wrap him in a hug and tell him everything will be ok.
He really hopes Ten is right, he loves Sicheng and doesn't want to lose him to an eating disorder.
