Warning: talk of abuse ahead and Incase I forget to label any other chapters there will be more. Physical, mental, and even sexual. When Renjun finally stopped running it was only because he had no oxygen left in his lungs. Between the crying and running his body just gave up so he just collapsed to the ground somewhere outside the hospital. He knows Johnny is following him and he also knows he will never be able to outrun him anyway.
When a panting Johnny rounds the corner and spots the boy hunched over on the lawn he finally slows down. He slowly walks up to him and picks him up without warning, Renjun flails in his hold trying desperately to get away.
"Let me go you giant! Let me go." He sobs harder and burrows into johnny's chest while the older sits on the bench with him still in his arms.
"Shh, it's ok. I don't know what that was but we'll work it out ok? Whenever you feel up to it I need you to explain ok?" Renjun didn't respond other than to nod his head. He sat and cried until the tears had all but dried up.
He was just about to speak when an angry Yuta came into view. He shrunk back into Johnny who quickly stood up and put Renjun behind him. He'd never known Yuta to be violent without a good reason but he wasn't going to take that chance.
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" Yuta shouted.
"Are you some kind of con artist? Are you really brothers? I'll tell you one thing you better have a good fucking explanation. Johnny and I trusted you, took care of you, the least you can do is be honest." Renjun tried to calm himself, his fingers were digging into johnny's shoulder as he fears for his safety. Johnny starts to think over the questions Yuta brought up and can't help but be curious too. He stays calm though and encourages him to talk.
"I can't tell you." He pauses and yuta is about to go through the roof again.
"I think he's probably scared that I brought them with me, but I didn't I swear I came alone. They didn't even know I was leaving until I was on my flight to America." He looks like he's telling the truth but of course there are still questions.
"Who are they and why is he so scared?" Renjun looks down and sighs.
"It's our parents, I'm not able to tell you why. That's up to him to tell, but please believe me. I came here because I love him and miss him so much and I needed to get away too." Yuta wants to believe him, but he's still skeptical while staring at the boy who's clinging to Johnny like his life depends on it.
"Fine I'll try to believe you, but this time I'll talk to him. I'll tell him that you came alone and ask if you can see him, if this doesn't work then I don't know what to tell you." He eyes Johnny and nods while Johnny does the same.
He walks back slowly and thinks on this new information. Why is he so scared of his parents? He figures some sort of abuse but to what extent?
When he gets back to the room he sees Sicheng still asleep with an exhausted looking Taeyong and Ten beside the bed.
"Why don't you guys go home, get some sleep." He says as he shuts the door as quietly as he opened it. Taeyong looks unsure after what had taken place.
"I'll stay with him, I promise. I don't have to go anywhere so he'll be fine." Yuta says trying to reassure him. Taeyong still looks skeptical but gets up anyway along with a sleepy Ten.
"I don't know why you are here, I know this goes beyond a boss/employee relationship but I trust that your intentions are good." He nods to Ten and starts to walk toward the door.
"Did you catch his brother?" He asks curiously.
Yuta nods as he sits down by Sicheng.
"He couldn't tell us much but that Sicheng is afraid he's not alone. Beyond that he wouldn't spill. But don't worry, I'm a man of my word and I'll stay ok?" They finally left which left Yuta to contemplate all that's going on.
Why did he bring him to the hospital when it could have easily been Johnny? Why is he staying now and why does he keep holding his hand? Was it to comfort the sleeping boy on the bed or perhaps himself? The only answer he could come up with was a big "I don't know."
He started to get sleepy himself mostly out of boredom but is quickly woken up by a frantic Sicheng. He sat up quickly in his bed, looking around like he was terrified of something so Yuta did what he could to calm him. He squeezes his hand and uses his other to rub his arm. Sicheng looks over and visibly relaxes seeing Yuta there, he couldn't tell you why he's calm with a practical stranger but he takes deep breaths and still cautiously looks around the room.
"It's ok, we're alone." Yuta says softly. He lays back onto his pillow, silence fills the room as neither really know where to start. Finally Yuta breaks it.
"So I want to talk to you but I need you to stay calm ok?" He asks cautiously while Sicheng slowly nods, still not really looking at him.
"So last night at the club that kid came to us and wanted help finding you. He says he's your brother Renjun, is this true?" Sicheng nods again.
"Can you tell me why you were scared of him? He seems harmless to me and honestly he's had a rough time getting to you. He's really upset and would like to see you." Sicheng stays silent for a while not trusting his voice at the moment but after a little thinking he managed to say something.
"He is my brother and I miss him so much, but I can't risk them finding me. I'm scared. I was fine here, starting a life of my own and now I'm scared I'll have to move." Yuta feels for the boy, it must be so hard living in fear this way.
"Who are you scared of? I mean you don't have to tell me anything, you owe me nothing but maybe I can help you? He came alone so don't worry about that. Nobody followed him, and he was careful not to leave any traces. So it's up to you if you want to see him?" Sicheng sits and thinks for a minute before answering.
"Yes I'll see him, as long as you're sure he's alone." Yuta nods and smiles.
"I'm sure." He texted Johnny to tell them to come up and as he set his phone on the table he gets a question that he really doesn't know how to answer.
"Why are you here?" Sicheng asks, the question takes Yuta by surprise. How does he answer this when he doesn't really know himself.
"I just want to make sure you get better, I don't tell this to many people but when I was 12 I lost my 16 year old sister to anorexia." Yuta pauses to collect himself, he really doesn't talk about this often because even after 8 years it still hurts, and Sicheng can see that he ripped open a wound that hasn't even begun to heal.
"She battled it for 3 years and finally lost her battle. I'm not saying you are anorexic but you are malnourished and it concerns me." Sicheng was shocked that Yuta would actually tell him that stuff since honestly they just met that morning.
"It's true I eat very little but my time is hard to come by. Between school and work I'm just so busy and after a while I got to the point where I just didn't try anymore." Yuta ponders his response carefully.
"Do you need less working hours? I'm sure we can work something out." Sicheng sits with his lips turned up almost to a smile.
"That sounds nice and all but if I want a place to live I need to keep working. Thank you though. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness." Yuta only nods and they fall into a silence again before Sicheng blurts out what's on his mind.
"It's my parents, I'm scared of my parents." He looks down in shame but Yuta just rubs circles with his thumbs on his hand that he's held the entire time.
"They were always mean to an extent, mostly to me Renjun was the baby so they were nice to him. When they found out that I liked boys and not girls they flipped. The first week they chained me in the basement and tried to starve the gay out of me. It was so scary, I thought I was going to die. By the time they came for me after 7 days I was dehydrated, near death soaked in urine and feces." Yuta was appalled. The fact that someone could do that to their own flesh and blood infuriated him.
"At that time I thought death would have been a wonderful escape but unfortunately they didn't want to let me off that easy." He chuckles softly and looks at Yuta.
"You probably think I'm a piece of shit too right? Disgusting faggot, who deserves to die." Yuta can't believe what he just heard, he scoffs and squeezes his hand as proof.
"If I thought you were any of those would I be here now? Would I crave to hold your hand in mine if I did? First of all I am bisexual, I've kissed my fair share of both sexes and I know what I prefer but that's beside the point. I have a small confession to make, when I saw you lying on the floor outside my office the only thing I could think of was that you must have been a fallen angel. I thought you were the most beautiful person I'd ever seen." He laughs a little as he recalls the event.
"I see you sitting there weak from hunger and exhaustion and all I can think about is how much I want to help you get better. I don't pity you or think anything less of you from your story or for any other reason, I just have an urge to protect you." Yuta laughs again and nervously scratches at the back of his neck.
"I'm Sorry this is starting to sound like some love confession and I just saw you and learned your name for the first time last night. All I'm trying to say is you are not what they said you are. They are monsters for doing that to you and if you think for a minute you may be in danger just call me, I will be there to protect you." Sicheng is speechless, this is the sweetest most sincere thing anyone has said to him and he's having a hard time wrapping his mind around it.
"I put my phone number in your contacts last night so you have it for..."
when the door creaked open they both jumped, both brought out of their moment by a timid little Renjun sneaking his way in.
Sicheng's tears start flowing and as soon as he can reach his beloved brother he holds him as close as he can. Yuta squeezes his hand gently one more time to communicate with Sicheng that he would leave them alone. Sicheng mouths a thank you to him and smiles genuinely. He still can't believe he opened himself up to him that way but there is something comforting about him and he also talked of his sister which was very hard for him so he knew he would at least be respectful and share some of his life.
He knew that was only the tip of the iceberg when it came to his issues and he also knew that one day in the near future if he were to tell the rest of his story, he probably wouldn't stick around.
