Run away — Chapter 48

Her fiery eyes are really pierced right through mine. Syempre, boyfriend ko 'to! Or maybe she did, because Ares meets her time to time, e 'di nasasabi na rin naman ni Ares sa kanya.

I just arched my brow, while she was still giving me that awful look.

"Ares, we need to talk," she reprimanded.

He quickly puts a glance on his watch, then suddenly grabs my hand. "Can't. Busy pa ako, e," sagot niya.

That's a solid burn!

She sighs. "It's important, Ares Brylle," she hissed. Umirap siya. "You serious? Uunahin mo pa iyang girlfriend mo? When we were dating months ago, you always choose work over me!"

My eyes widened because of her rants. So, totoo talagang naging sila bago pa ako dumating. But... I'm different.

Ares chuckled. "Well, then, I'm sorry, Quincy, if you ever felt that way," he squeezed my hand even tighter, signaling me that we really have to go, "if you excuse us."

From what happened in high school, hindi niya talagang magagawang makipag-ayos sa akin. My parents kinda wanted to give Quincy punishments, pero swerte niya na lang at nakatakas pa siya 'dun—by the help of her influential family. And it made me realize, she went from St. Carmen, because she, herself, was a rebel, too. Kiel told me once that Quincy was still lucky because despite of being a rebel, she always lived in the comfortable life. She was always saved by the powers of her family.

"Sorry about what Quincy showed," he apologized, while we were heading back to my condo's unit. His eyes were focused on the road, but took a few glances on me. "I didn't knew that she was kind of still holding a grudge on you."

I chuckled a bit. "Nah, it's okay. I understand why she's like that, anyway," I replied.

He sighed heavily. "You shouldn't have tolerated her by almost insulting you," he advised me. "She's an adult now. She should know that by now."

"Wala tayong magagawa.

"If it was important, she'll address me in a normal way," he argued.

Ares, Quincy liked you, too. Syempre, hindi siya magpapa-talo sa akin!" I told him, jokingly.

He looked at me for a second, at napa-iling. "You're too nice, just like my cousin," he pointed. "Can you be selfish for once? Most especially, if it's related to me?"

I smirked. "Ares Brylle Montoya... I don't need to become selfish, because I'm sure you're still mine, today and tomorrow," I chuckle, "at saka, kahit lumaban pa iyong si Quincy sa akin, for sure talo na siya. Because I'm confident you'll still choose me."

"Good girl," he replied.

Our conversation continued until we've reached our destination. This weird asshole. As if hahayaan ko siya. That would totally end me.
