Year 1795
"Are you sure we won't get caught?" My best friend Gale asks as we glide through the water
"No. Even if we do, my dad won't do anything" I reply, Gale scoffs
"Right. Are you forgetting that your Dad's name is Triton? King of Tythis?" Gale says, I just roll my eyes at him and continue swimming higher up to the surface. I come up from the surface and smile when I see the big ship, Gale and I hide behind a rock to avoid being seen.
"Isn't it wonderful?" I whisper
"It looks dangerous. You know what your Dad thinks about humans... can't we go home?" Gale scowls
"Is my big brother actually scared of humans?" I tease
"It's nothing to tease about, Katniss. Humans aren't any good" he replies
"Don't be such a guppy" I say rolling my eyes. I dive into the water to get closer, I hear Gale call out my name after diving in after me but I ignore him and continue swimming forward. I reach the boat but sit on it where I'm not seen, I look through one of the holes to look at the humans working.
"Katniss! Get down!" Gale hisses, I shake my head. I look at the blonde haired man who is playing with something that makes music... it's a beautiful sound.
"What was wrong with Princess Glimmer, Peeta?" A man asks
"She doesn't want to be with me. My Kingdom is the best imports for pearls and coal. She wants to give everything to her Kingdom" Peeta tells the man
"Come on, Peeta. Your Dad wanted you to be married by now" he replies sitting next to Peeta
"I know, Finnick. She's out there somewhere... I just haven't found her yet" Peeta frowns, he's so handsome...
"Katniss! Get down!" I look down at an anxious looking Gale. I jump down and swim down in the water, Gale swims next to me
"I can't believe you got that close! What if they saw you?" He replies, I roll my eyes
"I've done it before. Peeta wouldn't hurt me" I say
"I'm sorry? You've done this before?" He asks while stopping his swimming, I stop too
"Peeta is regularly on the water. He's really kind, Gale" I reply, he raises his eyebrow at me
"Kind or not I don't want you going back there" he says
"You may be older but only by a minute. So don't boss me around. You're not King yet" I scowl, Gale scowls back
"Katniss... we all know that they aren't like that. Just promise me tha—" my head snaps up at the loud crash. I start swimming back up, I ignore Gale calling out for me but all I can think about is Peeta. As I reach the surface my eyes widen as I see Peeta's ship explode.
"No!" I yell, as fast as I can I swim up to the boat, I notice a body slipping into the water, sinking fast and I know exactly who it is. I dive after Peeta, grabbing his body. I swim up to the surface and swim as best as I can to the shore. He lays on the soft sand with his eyes closed but his chest is moving which I know is a good sign.
"You're so beautiful..." I whisper, running my fingers through his blonde curls, his hand goes on my wrist and his eyes open, my eyes widen
"Why are you blurry?" He asks, I let out a sigh of relief
"It's because you were in a shipwreck. It's only temporary. I got to you before you could die" I tell him
"What's your name?" He asks
