Not as angsty as it sounds.

Peter steals flowers from the large garden everyday. He always thought that he had so little money and there were so many flowers, no one would notice. It was in back of a giant tower that covered most of the garden. Today, he was walking towards the garden and grabbed a few bushels and began to keep walking.

"Excuse me? You, with the flowers?" Peter froze and turned around slowly to see a man in a suit, one eyebrow raised above the tinted sunglasses.

It was Tony Stark.

The billionaire.

"Uh. Uh. Uh. Y-Yes sir?" Peter was gaping at his hero who was looking at him expectantly with his arms crossed.

"Why do you take flowers from my garden every day?"

Peter gulped and screeched his neck. "I, uh, don't have a lot of money, sir. There are so many, sir. I just really need to give them to-"

Tony sighed and walked towards him. "Alright, first off. Don't call me sir. Second, I'm going with you today."

Peter's eyes widened and he drew back. "What!? No! No. No. No. No. You can not come with me Mr. Stark."

"You seem very adamant on me not coming. Also, Mr. Stark isn't any better. Call me Tony and I need to see if this person that has taken your affections is worthy of theft."

Peter was silent for a couple minutes before he just gave up. "Alright then. This way."

Tony walked next to him. The walk was silent as the billionaire walked with the boy who had always idolized him.

"How far is it?" Tony asked after a couple minutes.

Peter checked his watch. "It only takes like twenty minutes." Tony looked at him incredulously. Peter laughed. "You chose to me here, Mr. Stark."

Tony sighed. "I guess. Well I'm not the person to be silent for 20 minutes. Talk to me, tell you about yourself kid."

Peter smiled at the nickname. "Okay. My names Peter Parker and I'm 19. I have a full ride to MIT. My best friends are Ned Leeds, who I went to high school with and Michelle Jones, who I also went to high school with. Ned goes to MIT with me. Mj goes to Harvard. I was Valedictorian. I major in forensic criminology with a minor in photography. I take pictures of Spider-Man for the Daily Bugle."

After about 10 minutes, Peter finally finished his rambling about his life.

"Sorry, Mr. Stark." Peter muttered once he was done.

"Hey, it's cool. I asked, didn't I?" Tony smiled at him. "So who's the one you steal my flowers for? Is it the girl you went to high school with? Michelle?"

Peter flushes red and looked at the ground, fiddling with his jacket.

"I'm going to take that as a yes. Tell me about her."

Peter started to tell him about Mj, leaving out the fact that she wasn't the one he stole the flowers for.

"She calms me 'Loser'. She calls Ned 'Geek'. Once during Decathlon practice she gave him- take a left here -an entire stack of flash cards on Lord of the Ringns because he needs to be 'educated in the way of his peoples'. She's honestly so-"

Peter stopped as they approached the graveyard. "So what?" Tony asked.

"Huh? Oh, uh nothing. It's just.. we're here." Tony looked around and his eyes landed on the cemetery. His smile dropped. Peter opened the gate and walked over to a corner. He took one of the bundles and layer it on one grave.

"This is my mother, Mary." He told Tony. He put another on the grave next to it. "This is my father, Richard." He walked to a section a little ways away from it and placed another bundle in front of another grave. "This is my Uncle Ben." He moved to the grave next to it. "And this is my Aunt May."

Tony looked absolutely devastated. "You know kid, I think they're worthy of flower theft. Let me walk you to your dorm."

Peter turned slightly red. "Uh, I don't exactly, uh stay in a dorm."

"Well where do you stay?"

"In the alley between an apartment building and a convenience store."

"Yeah, that's not happening. Come to the tower with me, kid. I'll get you a shower and some food."

They began the walk back and they were silent for a few minutes. "So tell me about them."

Peter shoved his hands in the pocket of his hoodie. "Who?"

Tony smiled at him and ruffled a hand in his hair. "Your family, kid."

Peter ran a hand through his curls. "Alright. I don't remember much about my parents. But I have two vivid memories. Uh, every Thursday we would sit and watch a movie together.  My mom would make chocolate chip cookies because their my favorite. My dad would get popcorn. We would all crowd onto a small couch we had and lie down on top of each other like a web of limbs. I would fall asleep and wake up in my bed, all tucked in with a cookie next to my head. The other is every Sunday, they'd send me to bed early and play soft jazz music through the house. I always wondered what they were doing and one day I snuck out of bed and they were slow dancing in the living room."

Peter continued for the rest of the 20 minute walk, telling Tony all about Ben and May.

When they got to the tower, Peter stopped at the door. "So, I guess this is your stop." Tony smirked at him.

"Come on, kid." Peter ruffled his hair and pulled him through the door. They got to receptions on Tony drummed his fingers on the desk happily. "Hello, I wanna pt this kid in the system." He told her. She tapped her keyboard a few times.

"Alright, I'll just need some information, Dr. Stark."

"Of course. His names Peter Parker. He's a sophomore at MIT. Pass level 'Alpha'." She looked at him, dumbfounded but he just looked at her. She nodded and took a gold pass from her drawer and placed it on a scanner.

"Okay, put your finger here." She tapped a scanner and Peter did as told. "And look here. Smile." He took his picture and it was scanned onto the pass. "Welcome to Avengers Tower."

Tony took him to the private elevator. "Hello, Boss. Welcome, Peter."

Peter looked around at the elevator only for Tony to chuckle and explain Friday to him.

"Oh, cool!" Peter said as the doors opened. "I made one of those once! I called her Karen. I put her in my suit." He then realized what her said and his eyes began to widen. "Oh. Oh no. No that's not what I meant. Shit shit shit shit. I'm not supposed to say that."

Tony looked at him unimpressed and raised an eyebrow. Peter sighed. "Okay, so... maybe I'm Spider-Man?"

Tony's eyes widened. "Really? Well, if you're smart enough to make your own AI then I need to take you into my lab. Maybe I could get you an upgraded suit? You should definitely spend He night."

Tony had the adoption papers signed by the next morning.
