Chapter 29 Ava

Thanksgiving

I am here with Jordan and his family for Thanksgiving. I hope the two older brothers will not start anything. I know they will because I am here. I am the cause of all of this. I sit in the family room with Tiffany as we have been both banned from helping. I was pregnant and Tiffany has a month old girl to look after. It was her 3 brothers helping their mom. Now, this could be fun NOT. Nothing has started as we can't hear anything. The only noise we could hear their mom telling the twins Joe and Jordan to get back in the kitchen as they kept running out to the family room to check on the football. They must have been tied up in the kitchen as we haven't seen them since Jordan came to me and kiss me 20 minutes ago. Tiffany wanted to know more about me and how I met Jordan.

"So how did you guys meet".

"I was picked for his music video".

" Which one?".

"The recent one. I can't remember the title". Now that showed me as a bad girlfriend.

" Cool. How long have you guys been together".

"Why?".

" I'm curious because he has never had a real relationship before well one that has lasted more than a month".

"Oh, do you think he's only with me because he knocked me up and it hurts his brother to see us together".

"Oh no, I don't think that. I see the look he gives you. Even if I only have known you for a day. I know how much he loves you. I can see it in his eyes and the way he looks after you".

" What's the story between your two middle brothers?".

Before she could say anything there was a commotion in the kitchen. I wonder what was going on in there.

"NOW GET BACK HERE AND HELP, JORDAN".

"NO, I CAN'T BE IN THE SAME ROOM WITH HIM".

" STOP BEING STUBBORN AND SELFISH".

"WHAT ABOUT HIM? HE'S BEING RUDE. YOU ALWAYS TAKE HIS SIDE FOR EVERYTHING. I'M YOUR SON TOO".

I then heard the door go and he stormed in and sat in front of the television to watch the football. He didn't even come to me he was that mad. Both Tiffany and I looked at each other but we didn't say anything.

" I will let him tell you".

"That's the problem. He won't".

"He will when he's ready" she replied "All I know is that they hung around together a lot more so than Jordan did with his twin Joe. It all changed when Jordan hit 14".

I sat there watching J watching football every so often turning the TV up. He was mad. I  have never seen this selfish angry side of him. What happened to make him this way?  It wasn't long for their mom to come out and drag Jordan away from the football.

" You have 3 seconds to get back in the kitchen to help lay the table and get the food out on the table".

"No" he turned up the TV.

"Now" she comes over to him and takes the remote and turns the TV off. "I said now. Go and help your brothers".

" No, not until he apologises".

"He didn't do anything. You're just being stubborn".

" You always stand up for him. Ever since I was 16 and... " He couldn't say anymore. In case the truth came out.

"Stop lying again. You were lying then".

" It happened. And it happened when I was 19 and he was 21 just turned 21".

Tiffany and I watched from the other side of the room. So whatever happened started when they were teens. I look at Tiffany.

"I didn't know a thing".

" Get back in the kitchen".

"No".

" Stop acting like a spoilt child and act your age. Or I WILL TREAT you like a child".

Jordan mumbled something and stood up. His eyes caught mine and there was mixed emotion in his eyes. He slumped his shoulders and slowly walked back into the kitchen like someone who was told off.

It wasn't long until we were all sat at the table for thanksgiving dinner. The adults we're at one table and the children were sat at another table. I was sat between the twins Jordan on my left and Joe on my right. Jon was at the other end of the table away from Jordan so they couldn't start again over dinner. Tiffany was sat near him and Derek. Both their parents were sat at both ends of the table.   I was hungry so all I wanted to do was eat. I didn't want to hear the one next to me groaning about what happened earlier. I placed a hand on his knee to calm him. He looks at me and gives me a small smile.

"You OK" he nodded and carried on eating.

I leaned into him to whisper "Are we going to back your place later" he nods a yes. He is being quieter this time not saying much just keeping his head down and eating.

"Seeing that it's thanksgiving what is everyone thankful for?" replied their mom "Mine is family". Jordan scoffed at the answer. But she didn't notice.

" Family" replied their dad.

"Same here. Family for me too" said Joe.

"Family" Tiffany agreed.

"Family" replied Derek.

"Yeah family for me too," said Jon.

Jordan was quiet not noticing what was going on and just carried on eating. He was still upset about earlier.

"What about you Jordan? You have been very quiet tonight" replied his dad.

Jordan shrugged his shoulders.

The kids all shouted out food and internet while Jordan was still deciding.

"Dunno family I guess" he replied barely a whisper "My new family". He still looked down at his plate.

" OK. Dessert everyone. Pumpkin pie or chocolate pie" replied their mom "Right boys clear up". 

So Joe, Derek and Jon got up and started clearing. Jordan slowly got up and went to the other table away from certain people. Now was he being cocky and a jerk or was he clearly upset? We soon started on the dessert. After dinner and washing up, everyone started to go their separate ways. We went home to his place.

We were back at his place after dinner. He didn't want to stay there for long. We were laying in his bed trying to go to sleep after a busy day with his family.

"I think we should stay here in Boston. You need to sort out your problems with your mom. I don't know what happened but I think it started when you were a teenager. You need to sort it".

" They won't listen. She never listens to me".

"Make her listen".

" They haven't for nearly 8 years".

"What happened?".

"Don't wanna talk about it" he replied.

"Well, we will stay as you haven't got anything planned with your music. I'm not doing anything because of these two. You can show me Boston". We left it at that as Jordan fell asleep...
