"Now push Ava".

" No" I was going against what my body wanted. The pain was unbearable.

"You need to" replies Joe looking at me and holding my hand.

"No. Because I will lose him as they come into the world".

" Push Ava. Now".

"No, I don't want to". I bit into my lip as the contractions were coming hard and fast. They really wanted out. But they can't. He's not here.

" Ava. Listen to me. You need to start pushing. If not it's not just their lives at risk. It's yours too".

"Jordan wouldn't want you to lose yours too. If he makes it and I know he will. He is gonna be devastated if you're not here in his life. So please listen to them" says Joe.

The doctor turns to a nurse " Go and find out about her boyfriend or will keep her frame of mind". She nods and goes. "Right Ava for the sake of your life and those of two children you are about to bring into the world. Please start pushing OK". I nod.

"Right push Ava. Now".

" I can't".

"Yes, you can Ava".

" No too tired". I knew they were going to tell me, I wouldn't be tired if I allowed my body to do what it was telling me. But they didn't. Joe stayed by my side helping me through it all. I never want to go through this again. I bet all women have said this and had another one after.

"Push Ava".

" Come on".

"Shoulders are clear now. Should be easier from now on".

I pushed one more time and I could hear a baby cry.

" It's a boy". But it didn't stop there.

Meanwhile on the other side of the hospital. Doctors and nurses were busy.

"We are losing him again".

" Vitals are dropping".

" I can't find the cause of the swelling and severe headache he was experiencing when he woke up".

" Hurry Doc, we are going to lose him".

"I'm trying here. I can't find the bleed".

" He's back with us".

"Let's sort this swelling and pressure on his brain then people".

" Found the bleed. This is bigger than I thought".

"Doctor he is stabling again".

" Let's get the bleed from a vein closed up. Need to fit a drain in to drain the excess fluid away".

"How's his vitals".

" Stabilizing for now".

"Let's save this poor boy life".

" Right Ava ready because baby two is ready to come out".

"No".

" Come on, you can do it," says Joe.

I shake my head. As I do so, sweat falls off my forehead. I am now panting and breathing harder as more contractions come. Here comes baby number two. I go through all the pushing again but this time she is taking her time to come out.

"Now push Ava".

" She doesn't want to come out. Shes too comfy just like her daddy".

"No, she is coming out whether she likes it or not" I pant.

"Another push Ava" replied the doctor "There you go. Another one Ava".

Joe keeps squeezing my hand and encouraging me. He's a good coach.

" Again Ava another push. Shoulders are coming".

I scream as I push again.

"Shoulders are free. Another push. Should be easier now. Little one didn't want to come out" he laughed.

I scoff and push a couple of times. Again I hear a baby cry.

"It's a girl".

" Congrats Miss McKnight, you have two beautiful babies. Both have ten fingers and toes. You did well".

Christian was born 20 minutes before his sister at 4.57 pm. He was the one that was hidden on the scan when they found out there were two. He weighed 5lbs 2 and was smaller than his sister. Sofia was born at 5.17 pm weighing 5lbs 5. She was bigger now but I bet Christian will take after his dad later on in life. I was so exhausted I was barely keeping my eyes open. Before I could sleep, they placed my son, Christian in my arms while my daughter, Sofia was getting checked. I look down at my son. I smile. The motherly instinct kicks in. Joe comes over with Sofia in his arms one proud Uncle.

"Thank you so much, Joe, for being here".

" No worries. I am glad to help and in place for my twin, Jordan. Don't they look like him?"

I look at both. "Yeah, they do".

" What are you going to name them or are you going to wait until Jordan is awake".

"Christian for the boy and Sofia for the girl but I am not sure to spell it with F or ph. Jordan wanted the names".

" Sofia with a F".

"Yeah, I like that. I'm tired, Joe".

" You did good Ava".

"Thank you".

The nurse came back in again, the one who told to find out about Jordan.

" Hey, I have come to take them to the nursery so you can sleep, Ava. But I have news on your boyfriend, Jordan. He is back in ICU. The surgery went well. You will have to wait to see him OK. So I would sleep, Ava. Look after yourself".

"Thank you," I say as I close my eyes.

Please wake up Jordan, your children Sofia and Christian want you. They need you ...
