The differences between us Todoroki x reader

Chapter 16.

Todoroki's POV
The day of the sports festival. My father is back to his normal self and only wants me to win. With his power. But I refuse. Why did I think he can change? He can never be sympathized with, I mean besides Mrs. l/n. I believe she was his best friend. But when he had a quirk marriage they started falling out, not like they stopped talking to each other but like started arguing if they mentioned something that dealt with me and y/n's quirks. Nonetheless I went to school.
Y/n's POV.
I woke up to a call from my father saying that I needed to do my best in order to be in the top and that he'll be watching. It's not surprising though I've been training a lot. It feels weird I feel like I should call todoroki and talk about how excited I am but I can't. Not now at least.... either way I put on my uniform and head to school.
*time skip to them changing into their gym uniforms*
"Ugh I really wanted to wear my costume!" I could hear Ashido say as she put on her uniform. It wasn't really a big deal the reason why they didn't let us have our costumes is because some people have their costumes customized to help their quirk, like katsuki's it helps holding amounts of sweat so he can launch big range attacks. I was fixing my hair until uraraka came up to me.
"Hey l/n-San can I talk with you?" She said uncomfortable since we've hadn't spoken since the incident.
"Alright sure, what's up?" You acting relaxed so she can calm down.
"Well I wanted to see if you can forgive my late apology..? I don't want to have you hate me I still want to be friends..." you could tell she was still upset by how she handled the situation so in order to calm her down you put a hand on her shoulder.
"It's okay Uraraka. I'm already over it." You said with a smile. "I just couldn't process another thing to do besides running. So that I'll take in my own hands please don't feel bad about it. You're right my situation with Todoroki is a different matter, I shouldn't have put it in that way." Uraraka seemed more calm the more you reassured her. "I should've given you a better example. Like a better one could've been that my father takes most priority in training me so even if he said yes he would barley help but only give you basic advice you'd already know." Your back was leaning on the wall as you spoke. Your fingers brushed your hair and uraraka responded.
"Oh I see! I still feel bad. But now that you aren't mad anymore let's put our best effort in the sports festival okay?" Her bubbly aspect made you smile and agree.
"Now we should head to where the others are we don't want to get left behind." Uraraka said as she pointed at the now empty dressing room. You complied and head to where everyone else is.
When you got there you took a seat in a chair close by where Midoriya was at.
That's when todoroki started talking to Midoriya about how he'll defeat him and others who try to get in his way on making it to the top. It confused me by his tone he was angry, but due to me not on talking matters with him I didn't ask. And with that the sports festival was about to begin. We made our entry and into the stadium there I saw my father standing there looking down at me. Soon after the other classes came and Midnight came to give the instructions about what we're about to do which is a obstacle course. Once it starts I immediately used my quirk to run ahead of the others though thanks to the tunnel I struggle a little bit to get out but nonetheless I'm tagging behind todoroki. Once he freezes the math I use the shadows to release me from the ice and continue running but stop to see the 0 point robot from the entrance exams. You realize that todoroki froze them while they were unbalanced so others could have a difficult time on continuing luckily you make it out and regain speed with Todoroki. You then can hear pro hero mic complement you and todoroki. You're then met with a ropes that you'd have to pass to continue. You Hesitate for a bit before using your quirk to move you there carefully. While others have been catching up you realize that katsuki and others are starting to reach the stage you were currently at. Though you proceeded and made it to the land mines. I slowly make my way past the field but once Midoriya starts getting ahead by using a scrapped piece of metal he took from the robot. Seeing him get a head you take off a running speed but can't get ahead of todoroki and katsuki because you fell. Them ahead drops you to 4th. Once you get up you start running hoping you can catch up. But once you made it back to the stadium you were in 4th. Not wanting to see my fathers angered expression for making it to 4th even though you have a quirk that has to deal with speed.
Todoroki's POV
Once I made it to 2nd and looked at y/n that made it to 4th hurt. She was upset. But I'm not going to comfort her.
Back to Y/n's POV
The next challenge was the calvary round. We all had gotten points from the rankings we got during the race. People were after Midoriya because since he got 1st place he got 10 million points. Even so me and tokoyami decide to team up. But since Midoriya wanted tokoyami, I decided why not join their group instead of finding another. It was fine though. My quirk was also an advantage to them. Once it started we were able to work just fine because of Hatsume's gadgets. But when Mineta attack damaged our enforcements. Leaving me and tokoyami the only ones able to defend/protect our headband. It wasn't until the next group we were up against that got my attention. It was Todoroki's. Thank the gods that I didn't have to look him in the eyes, since I was in the back. Me and tokoyami both started defending our group making sure they didn't grab our headband but as we strategized Todoroki's group charges at us taking our headband off Midoriya's head. In a rush to take the headband back our group charges Making Midoriya use his quirk, and leaving Todoroki to finally start using his flames. Midoriya thinking he took the right band happiness drains realizing that they mixed up the headband leaving him to grab the wrong one. Because Todoroki quickly stops from using his other side of his quirk he is frozen because he was about to use his fathers side of the quirk. In that state I tell Tokoyami to grab a headband while he's distracted. So once we run out of time we were still able to place in fourth since Tokoyami grabbed a band just like I had asked him too. Leaving it with 4 teams but ojiro and Shoda from class 1b withdraws from the sports festival. They mentioned how they didn't want to get in the way they did. But since we were a odd number they added Tetsutetsu into the group and that's when they showed who we were fighting against. And out of all the people I could be it had to be Todoroki. TODOROKI. A sick feeling started growing in my stomach, why did it have to be him? Why couldn't I fight someone else. It's not just because he's stronger then me it's that I can't face him right now. So why? Why did the stupid machine choose us to fight!? Pro hero mic finally called for a break and once we all left the stadium I ran to the restroom and started throwing up. I can't stop trembling, I feel like I can't process what's going on. The more I threw up the more I feel weak. I can't eat a thing. I won't eat a thing. How can I eat something when I have to fight someone I care for?! Especially when I know I can't win. I've trained yes but that doesn't mean I can win. He's always stronger then me I can't just beat him.
"L/n-San? Are you okay? You ran to the bathroom right when they said we are on break... what's wrong?" You could hear Uraraka say as she stands next to the stall you were in.
"I-I'm fine I just got nauseous when I saw who I'm fightin-" you cut yourself off with more vomit.
"If you're not capable why not asking to switch?" Uraraka asks as you hear her sit down on the floor.
"I am capable, I just hate that I have to go against him. My father is going to be like 'this is your time to show how much your hard work will pay off'.... he's going to be so disappointed when he sees me lose in the fight especially because it's todoroki!" You finish throwing up and flush the vomit down and the exit the stall. Uraraka gives you some water to wash the taste out of your mouth.
"Well if you want all during break I can stay around you so you don't have to be alone with your father!" Uraraka said with her usual smile.
"Thank you, But you don't have to do that." You say as you finish cleaning yourself up.
"I insist! I want you to feel more comfortable!" You looked at her determined eyes.
"Alright if you say so. Let's go I don't want to be in this bathroom anymore." You and Uraraka both left the bathroom. As you waited for the break to end you and her casually spoke about the usual things and what internship they wanted to go to etc. soon enough the break was over and you couldn't help but feel sick thinking about the fight you're going to have. Maybe let him win like that? Yeah I'll try a bit and then surrender. Wait no I can't it's too complicated! As you over thought the fight between Shinsou and Midoriya was almost over. Meaning next fight was you and Todoroki. As you waited for it to be finished you thought about your strategy. Time went fast. The next thing you knew you were in the stadium starring at Todoroki.
*3rd person POV*
Thanks to the talk earlier with Todoroki and Endeavor, Todoroki has completely forgotten who he was about to fight. So he did a full on attack with surprised Y/n.
Y/n's POV
Like that it started a full range attack immediately I was engulfed with ice. (The way sero was) luckily my hand wasn't covered in ice so I can take myself out. So once Midnight asked me if I can still move. I hesitated and said "yes" that's when people started noticing the huge shadow behind the large piece of ice turn into a large hand as it grabbed the ice it demolished it. Soon enough I was out of the ice. That's when the battle continued with in such speed I kicked Todoroki close to the edge. Screw sympathy he sent a full attack on me didn't even hold back! Though it did look like he woke up, and realize who he was actually fighting.
Todoroki's POV
I had forgotten who I was fighting. I wanted it to get done and over with so when I heard my ice break from the attack I had given them. And once they got out I was quickly kicked to the edge of the stage we were fighting on. That's when I realized who I was fighting. Y/n. I turned around to only see nothing, because when I turned around I was throw to the other side of the stage. In order to slip her up I put ice on the ground. That's when she spoke to me. "I wanted to let you win y'know? I wanted to get this over with so I didn't have to see your face. But then you go and attack me with all force, like shit you give no mercy." I thought she was saying this loud enough for everyone to hear but we were the only ones that could hear each other.
"I-I was mad... I forgot who I was fighting." I said as I blocked a kick.
"Forgot you were fighting? How do you forget you're about to fight someone you really care for!?" Still no one could hear our conversation. It was confusing not even pro hero mic could hear and he was intense hearing levels.
"Care for? You've acted like I don't exist. And how are you doing it so they can't hear our conversation?" I asked as y/n slipped on the ice from misstepping of a sprint.
"It's a thin shadow surrounded around us so we can neither get out of the because of out of bounds, and hear us and yes cared for, I have my reasons for not talking to you. Plus I doubt you'd care for me I've left you on read when you were worried it took me forever to clean that blood off my window. But what can I do when I'm begging to my father not to hurt you." She said as I get knocked over. Her last words surprised me 'not to hurt me?'
"What do you mean not hurt me? What it looked like was that he hurt you." I stated at I knocked y/n over.  "My father wanted to murder you right then and there. So when we trained I begged him not to hurt you. He hated you even more when he found out the secret spot I would stuff you in whenever he'd come home early. I had to beg him not to destroy it. And last but no least the reason why I don't talk to you or glance at you anymore is because I don't want to switch schools! He wanted me to switch so I wouldn't see you anymore. he wanted to have a room in his agency to sleep there and go to school there. So you see I have my reason on why I couldn't do that! I don't want to stop being friends with you Shoto! So I'm sorry..." her words hurt me. I just thought that she didn't want to be around me because of the rumors. But she stopped hanging out with me..... to protect.....me.....
"Y'know I'm still standing because of adrenaline. I would've been put a long time ago." She gave me a weak quirky little grin.
"Really? I thought you've actually been able to handle my attacks." (Btw they're still fighting I'm just tired of writing their attacks)
"You thought? Y'know I'll be stronger then you. Even if I train my ass off" she said as she fell to the ground.
"Well when are you going to give up? You can't be like this forever." I said as she got back up.
"Soon I have too look like I'm actually trying. Though he does know I'm blocking out the sound. Soo I'll be confronted about that." 
She acted calm but I could tell she was incredibly tired.
"Okay now time for the big question. Will you be my friend again?" Her question surprised me. Why wouldn't I be friends with her again?
"Yes." And with that the little thin shadow that let us talk privately soon faded we continued to fight in silence until her adrenaline ran out. It was over once Midnight said whoever won. So once I gave her my final blow y/n was out. Sure I could feel burning daggers being seeped into my skull from her father, and that I was claimed victorious. All I was happy about was that we were friends again.
Y/n's POV
I lost of course, but I was friends again with Shoto. Now I just have to demand my father to let me. My body is weak. Really weak. My father couldn't yell my ear out for losing since I was passed out in the recovery room. So when I did wake up I was ready to hear it. But he wasn't in the room waiting for me to wake up. Which made me think of the worst case scenario of him murdering Shoto because he won. I tried to get out of the bed but recovery girl stopped me.
"Now now you aren't thinking of going to find your father are you?" She said as she fixed the bed so I could sit properly.
"Yes, I need to see if he's mad at me or not..." you started playing with your fingers.
"I kicked him out. He wanted to wake you up by force but I needed you to rest so here we are." She went to go sit back down.
"So how long has he been out?" I asked wondering if it just happened.
"Thirty minutes ago. He's probably sitting on the ground waiting to be let in." She started checking if the scraps you had gotten in the fight had healed. Everything was fine so I could go back and continue to watch the festival. But I decided to stay. I didn't want to leave the safety of a room my father wasn't allowed to be in. Plus I was still tired from being drained she did heal me after all. So instead I closed my eyes and went back to sleep. Not like recovery girl minded. She just let me. Sure I didn't get to watch the rest of the festival and see Shoto get second place but at least I was happy.
