Devin

When you’re labeled in high school, that’s it. You’re stuck with that label. Weather it’d be SLUT or LONER or JOCKASS. It’s the label you have until you graduate, move schools, or suffer from depression and commit suicide.

Which is what I almost did.

You see, Freshman year 2009. I immediately got labeled as freak/loner, someone nobody wanted to hang around with. I apparently got that label from being “too quiet”. Or so my boyfriend, Luke Voloikiv says.

Oh yea, another thing, I was dating the Prince of the Jockasses. He wasn’t as much of a jockass now, but I think it’s fine.

Our relationship started out fine, but our “honeymoon phase” was cut short the next day when we went back to school… which was basically Hell on Earth.

Then our relationship got better. We decided that trying to hide it was a HUGE mistake.

“Luke, are you sure about this?” I asked, sitting in his truck. He had my hand in a tight grasp and we were looking at each other.

“Yes. I want to be with you, Devin, so doing this is the best way to.” I was looking for a speck of doubt in his voice or eyes, but it never showed, if it was even there in the first place.

“O-okay.” I wanted this. More than anything.

We both took a deep breath and got out of the truck. Luke walked around the truck to stand next to me, in turn he grabbed my hand and started walking towards the school. I’ll admit, I was freaking out! We were realy going to do this.

“Yo, Voloikiv man, what’s up?” Lucas Wright, Luke’s bestfriend and Co Captain of the Jockasses, walked over to him and slapped his back. “I see you’ve been busy.” He smirked, pointing to our hands. I wanted to laugh.

“Yes. This is my boyfriend, Devin. Dev you know Lucas.”
“I think I’ve seen him around.” I said shakily. Lucas just laughed.

“Cool man.” He looked over at Luke, “You bringing him to sit with us today?” Luke shook his head.

“Nah, we’re sitting on the baseball field.”

“Sounds cool.” The bell rang and Lucas jumped. “Oh. I guess I should be heading to first period. See you around.”

“Yea, see ya.” Luke pulled me away and I let out a breath. “Were you scared of Lucas?”

“No.” I lied. He just smirked.

“Sure.”

“Oh whatever. I thought he was going to pound my brains out! He’s one of those dumb jocks that a person can’t help but be deathly afraid of.”

“Luka is nothing to be scared of. He’s a big softy.”

“Sure sure. Let’s go to class, Friend-of-the-Softy.” I teased and kissed him swiftly.

Luke

I loved holding Devin in my arms. He fit perfectly, like it was where he belonged… Hell, it was where he belonged.

“Luke?” Devin asked from my chest. I looked down at him, his hair brushing my face.

“Yea?”
“Are you going to come out to your parents?” I stopped thinking about everything else and thought. How do I? What will be the result? Oh god they’re going to kill me!

“Yes.” I heard myself say. Dev sat up and looked at me with a look of surprise on his face.

“Really?” The look on his face made my heart melt.
