~~~Astrid's POV~~~
My plan was flawless.
I would convince Jeff that this was all a team effort. I would tell him that after he kicked the table towards me, I would grab one of the sharp tools and cut myself free, to then find keys and help him. Then together, we would escape this place.
What he didn't know, was that I had no intention of grabbing those keys. I was going to cut the ropes and run like the devil's at my heels. He could stay here for all I cared. He had been about to kill me, and then he had agreed to possibly torture me, and now thanks to him, I was being tortured for information that I just didn't possess.
Plus, what was up with his face? The first few times I had seen it, I hadn't really taken a moment to study him. But in that moment after my lovely session, while he was still out, I decided to study his face.
He was unbelievably pale, his skin downright paper white. He had black hair, blue eyes... Oh and the eyes. I couldn't believe he was unconscious because... Well, his eyes were open. It took me a few seconds to finally conclude that he didn't have eyelids. But why? And then there was the whole mess with his mouth. Jagged cuts curled from the edge of his lips to his cheekbones in a smile.
In conclusion, his face was a mess.
And it triggered a faint memory that I had stored away in my mind from a Thanksgiving dinner that happened a thousand (it was more like two or three) years ago. Where my mother was talking to her brother about some serial killer or something.
And he had been about to kill me. There had been someone else too, someone named EJ? Who was he? Why did he want my kidney?
Many questions rushed through my mind as I saw the two tormentors attack Jeff.
As much as I wanted to leave him there, the faint groans of pain were enough to make me think twice. This was a fate worse than death. No one really deserved this.
"I told you- I don't... I don't... Know." He said in between pants. I raised my gaze and saw his hoodie thrown on the floor. He had a dark grey shirt underneath, which was now tattered. Blood stained it and his pants. There were cuts everywhere, his arms, his legs, his torso...
At least they had grown tired of me quickly, only handing me a few cuts. One on my face and a few on the torso. There was also the throbbing pain on my neck from when they tried to choke me to death.
The intimidation technique hadn't worked.
Or rather I had no fucking clue of where that mansion was. Slenderman? Seriously? Even I knew that that was a load of bullshit.
These men were crazy.
"Maybe you'll tell us if we move onto your girlfriend." One of them said. He had an accent, but I couldn't place it. A laugh rumbled from Jeff's throat.
"By all means, please give me a break." He stated, shooting me a sadistic smile. I began to squirm in the chair.
"No. No, I don't know anything! I swear, he tried to kill me, I'm serious!" However, they didn't seem to care whether I meant it or not. One of them turned towards Jeff, the other walked over to me.
"Let's see... I don't think you'll be needing your fingers anytime soon... How about your teeth, mmm?" He grabbed some pliers and grabbed me by the chin, prying my mouth open.
I struggled and jerked sideways to no avail. Soon enough, he was holding onto one of my molars. Tears pricked my eyes, this was going to hurt like a motherf-
"What in Heaven's name are you doing?" A deep voice resounded from the doorway, which was behind me. Both masked men stopped and looked at each other.
"Interrogating the suspects...?" The one with the accent replied.
"This girl is a suspect? Does she look like a killer to you?" He spoke with seething anger. Even Jeff stepped back. "Take her out back. She's useless. As for you..." I could only guess he was speaking to Jeff. "You will tell us everything you know."
"Wait." I said once the pliers were out of my mouth. The taste of metal was still on my tongue. "Since I haven't really seen your faces, does that mean I get to live?" I asked hopefully.
There was a moment of silence. No one moved, no one spoke. I was sure that the mystery male was going to step forward and stab me from behind. Finally, he sighed.
"Yes. If you swear to never speak of this." He said. Immediately, I nodded.
"I swear it." I said.
"Alright. Take her away."
