~~~Jeff's POV~~~
Honestly, if I didn't know any better, I would have concluded that even Slenderman was tense.  We sat quietly, waiting for Katherine to begin speaking.  She was standing in front of the desk, her arm wrapped around Astrid protectively. Slendy was sitting behind the desk, his hands clasped on front of him.  EJ and I flanked her on either side.  That way if she lashed out at us, she would kill one and give the other a headstart.
There was an agonizing silence, until finally, Astrid cleared her throat.  The sound was like an explosion to my ears, it was so loud.
"So!"  She said, obviously trying to chase away the tension in the room.  "I take it that you g-"
Katherine squeezed her daughter's shoulder and Astrid made a tiny whimpering sound before shutting her mouth.  I would have laughed or at least smiled, but Katherine was scary enough as it was.
"These two tried to kill my daughter.  I thought my one request was that you stay away from my life."  She said accusingly, glaring at Slendy.
I was not aware that Jeffrey had targeted her.  She was certainly not one of my assigned targets.  Slendy said, and though he didn't have eyes, he shot me a glare.
Katherine then turned to me and scowled.  It took all of my willpower not to take a step back.
"Touch my daughter again and I'll end you."  She said, then turning to EJ.  "Same goes for you."
There was a moment of awkward silence as both EJ and I nodded, she then took a deep breath.
"Thank you for saving her from those men."  She then added, confusing the shit out of us.
"Wait, but I saved them."  Astrid protested.  Katherine sighed and shook her head.
"We'll talk about that later."  She said, looking up at Slendy.
I take it you're taking her.  He said, to my surprise and utter horror, she shook her head.
"I leave in a business trip tonight, these men have seen her face and they know where she lives.  I think it's safer for her to stay here."  Katherine said.
"In a house full of murderers?"  Astrid asked.  I couldn't argue her logic.
Keeping her here, safe, is the least we could do for both of your services.  If you are to leave her with us, we will protect her.  Slendy merely stated.
'Speak for yourself, I'm very much eager to kill her.' I though, which earned me a glare from Slendy.  Fuck.
Astrid raised her hand.  "Do I get a say in this?"
"No."  Her mother replied, pinching the bridge of her nose.  "Okay children, run along now.  I need to speak to Slenderman alone."
Astrid didn't even say goodbye before she bolted out of there like her ass was on fire.  EJ and I did the same.
Astrid didn't bother to say anything as she stomped outside angrily and slammed the door behind her.  I really hope the Rake gets her.
"Maybe we should warn her not to go too far."  EJ said, looking at the door.  I really wanted to leave her to her own devices, but with Katherine in the mansion, I didn't want to risk it.
"I really need to kill something."  I muttered, obviously disgruntled.
It had been a few days since my last victim and honestly, I just needed the release.  Ever since I targeted that bitch, things have been going downhill for me.  She kicked me in my manhood, which is one of the main reasons I want to kill her, and then there was the whole deal with the torture and the mansion.  And now Katherine was giving me the stink eye, and honestly, had she not been my victim, I would be fine.
And I wouldn't have my whole torso wrapped in bandages.
And I would still have my damn hoodie.
Yup, I was definitely going to kill her.
Together, EJ and I stepped out, but Astrid was just sitting in the grass outside.  She had her eyes closed, her face tilted to the sky.
Nice anger management trick.
"I take it you wish to leave."  EJ said, sitting down beside her.  She didn't flinch, didn't move.  I was about to walk away until I noticed EJ looking at me and shaking his head.
"I just want to go home.  I really thought I could forget about this and go back to my normal life."  She said quietly, opening her eyes and looking at EJ.  I finally gave in and sat down in front of her and EJ.
"You will, after your mother comes back from her business trip."  He replied.
"I don't like this, EJ.  Those men...  Who were they?"  She asked, then turning to me.  I realized she wasn't expecting an answer.  It was purely rhetorical.  "How are your injuries, Jeff?"
"Why do you care?"  I said immediately and without thinking.  A flicker of emotion passed through her face, but she quickly hid it.
Honestly, I couldn't care less about her.  She was supposed to be another victim, the only thing that makes her special is that her mother has history with us.  That's it.
Then why did you save her?
That wasn't me!  EJ was the one who carried her, and dressed her wounds and did everything.
I scowled at her, she stared right back.
EJ just sighed and looked away.  Astrid and I remained fixated on our little staring contest until the front door opened.
"Astrid, baby, I'm leaving.  I'll call you when I'm able and we can talk about everything."  Katherine said, stepping out.  Astrid broke away from the staring contest and stood to hug her mother.  I just rolled my eyes and left.  EJ didn't stop me this time.
