~~~Astrid's POV~~~
Jo's Burgers joint was actually very close to where I lived.  I walked for a few minutes, glancing over my shoulder every five seconds, until finally, I saw the sign.
And in the parking lot, I saw the car.
A triumphant grin played on my lips as I began to walk, but before I make it within ten yards of the parking lot, I spotted something out of the corner of my eye.
It was dark, I spotted a sort of shadow that seemed different than the others. After a second, I realized what made it different.
The hint of navy blue.
Immediately, I got an idea.  It was crazy, it was dangerous, and surely it would result in me dying, or worse, losing a kidney.  I almost dismissed the idea and kept walking away from it.  But no.
I was just a girl.
I was no match against two men who had apprehended a serial killer.
With a deep breath and an obvious death wish, I began to approach the masked man.  EJ, as I recall.
"Look, I'm still concerned about why you want my kidney, but that's not important right now."  I began, approaching.  He tensed and straightened up, probably confused as to why I was walking towards the danger.  "They kidnapped your friend, and they're torturing him, and I can't really do anything about it.  So maybe you can."
"My...  Friend?"  His voice was laced with something dangerous, something powerful.  It was almost demonic, ancient.  I resisted the urge to run away and forget about all of this.  Something within me, etched deep in my being told me to run.  Before I could listen to what was probably logic, I kept talking.
"Y-Yes.  You know....  Jeff."  I clarified pathetically, my heart pounding in my chest.  I was surprised that it hadn't exploded by now.  He remained quiet, probably thinking about my kidney.
Damn, I need to stop thinking about the whole kidney ordeal.
But honestly, when someone says they want your kidney, that's not something you forget easily.
"They're torturing him, they tried to get information out of me too, but I didn't know anything.  Look, I'm not lying."  I pointed at my bandaged cheek, then I lifted my hoodie and shirt to reveal the bandages underneath.  "They want to know something about a mansion, and about a Slender...  Slenderman."
I looked up at him, sure that he was about to kill me.  Finally, very slowly, he took a step forward.
My fear kicked into gear.  I took one step back, turning my body with it to run. And even so, I felt like I was going in slow motion because before I could get away, his hand shot out and grabbed my wrist.
"Stop."  He ordered.  Like an obedient child, I did.  "Why do you want to help, we were going to kill you."
"Because, they're torturing him.  That's so horrible, no one should have to live through that.  And I get that you tried to kill me, but I draw the line at torture.  So I was thinking that maybe we could strike a deal, you know?  I save Jeff from the masked men, and in return my life goes back to normal."  I said without thinking.  Damn, I was horrible at hiding my true intentions.
"And how do we find them?"  He asked.
"You're actually going to help?"  I couldn't hide the surprise from my tone.
"Well we can't let them find the mansion, and the most effective way to do that is to kill them.  We can save Jeff in the process."  He said nonchalantly.  I pointed at the parking lot.
"We follow that car."  Together, we both turned towards the black car.  "You're not going to...  Steal my kidney...  Right?"
There was a grunt of agreement.  "Wouldn't dream of it."  Was that sarcasm I detected?  Did that mean he was going to steal my kidney?
I didn't even wish to know at this point.
I looked inside the restaurant and was baffled to find it empty except for the employees.
"Hey...  EJ?"  I asked, still unsure if I should call him that.
"Hmm?"  He hummed in question, looking down at me.  I turned to him.
"Where are the-"  Before I could even finish the question, I saw the masked men right beside us.  How had they managed to sneak up on us?
He turned his head in the direction I was looking, immediately on his guard, but it was too late.  They injected him with something and he was out for the count.  That just left me with one option.
Running.
I turned on my heel and ran like the Devil himself was paying me a visit.  It wasn't easy with my wounds, but I managed.  I ran as fast as my slight limp would allow and burst into the restaurant.  The employees tried to stop me, but I ran in through the kitchen and out the back door.  A glance behind me told me they were still following.
I ran into an alley which connected to an abandoned building, the door was always open.
But as I entered the alley, I was met with a dead end.  Panic surged through me, I picked the wrong alley.  Soon enough I heard their voices approaching.  My eyes went to the a ladder on the side of the building and I had an idea.  Within seconds, I was climbing.
They must have spotted me, but they didn't follow.  Instead, they grabbed their guns and began to shoot.
My main instinct was to stop and cover my ears, but I knew that it was futile.  So I just kept climbing until they cursed and began to climb behind me.
Once on the rooftop, I scanned the other buildings and took a deep breath.  You're in familiar ground, Astrid.  Like the parkour you used to do with your friends, just higher, faster and with a higher possibility of death.
I was going to die.  I ran towards the nearest building and before I could change my mind, jumped towards its rooftop.
