~~~Astrid's POV~~~
Just as he had promised, Skylar arrived roughly thirty minutes after the our little chat on the phone. I bid the clerk goodbye as I stepped out of the store with Sky. After we were finally in his car, he turned to me, not even bothering to hide the fact that he looked over my whole body. I would have felt uncomfortable, but it wasn't hard to realize he was taking inventory of my variety of wounds.
"What the fuck happened?" He asked, again, he didn't bother to hide the disdain in his tone. I opened my mouth to reply, but realized that I couldn't grasp the words to do so.
There was a moment of silence before Skylar finally sighed. His stone cold gaze softened a fraction of a degree.
"Okay, why don't you start after Jeff took you out of my place?" He asked, his tone somewhat gentle. Sky then turned away from me and turned the key in ignition, beginning to drive shortly after.
"Well.... Well he stabbed me, cut me, called me a traitor and a liar, and then gave me up to the men who had tortured us earlier." I said, finding anger in my tone when I spoke about Jeff's betrayal. It became much easier to speak, fire sparked in my mind. "Then they took me away, injected me with something, when I woke up, I was in a room, my wounds were bandaged, they told me I was safe. My mother was there. She told me she was going to kill them. All of them."
"And that's a bad thing..." He said, but it was very clearly a question. He wanted an explanation. Why was I so keen on helping these murderers?
"Well... Yes. Look, I know it's stupid, but I just feel this need to help them, there's this urge to do something. And then there's the whole thing with the spirit of the Protector." I said, burying my face in my hands.
"You mean the thing from your dream. What about it?" He asked, glancing at me. I raised my gaze towards him, he looked sort of concerned.
"So I'm supposed to sacrifice my body to the spirit of the Protector, that way she can save them and protect them and whatever... I told her no and that I could save them without sacrificing anything, but she's not really buying it. She is helping me though." I explained.
"Okay. Okay, yeah. You... You got in the weirdest shit, and I almost died because of it, but you're still my friend and it would be really shitty of me to not help you. I am a little angry though. But it's more at the situation, then at you. I'd just love to have a nice little chat with this Jeff person. And of course, your mother. And the Protector. They're treating you like a puppet on strings, and as a result, you're buried in trouble, and I'm tasked with helping you through. Not that I don't want to, I wouldn't dream of abandoning you with all this crazy shit but..." He chuckled. "I'm rambling. I'll help you, what do you need?"
"I need to get back to the mansion. I don't know how, though. You're not supposed to be able to find it on your own..." I said, frowning.
"What if you've been there before though?" Sky asked. I paused, not entirely sure of the answer. "Maybe the spirit of the Protector can help you find it." He suggested.
"Is that true?" I asked the spirit out loud. There was a moment of silence before a disgruntled voice answered in my mind.
"Yes, I can help you find the mansion. I still disapprove of whatever you plan to do, however." She said.
I turned to Skylar and nodded.
"Alright, so you need me to take you to the mansion. Anything you need before that?" He asked, glancing at me.
"Well... I'm kinda starving..." I said with a sly smile.
"Of course you are..." He said, the ghost of a smile on his lips.
After Skylar so kindly provided me with some fast food, he drove me to the forest. The spirit of the Protector helped us get through the forest. She warned us about a rake or something, but we didn't encounter anything out of the ordinary. Finally, after a while, we found it.
"Okay, Skylar. Get out of here. I'll call you in a while to make sure you got out safely." I said, stepping out of the car. He didn't seem to like it, but he nodded. "Take care of yourself. Thank you."
"You too, Astrid. You better help me with that game, I'll delete your stats." He threatened in a playful tone. I watched as he drove away, almost wishing I was in the car with him.
"Oof, okay. Come on, Astrid. You can do this." I told myself. I took a deep breath and turned towards the mansion. I just had to go in, make sure they were aware of the threat, and try to find a way to get them to safety.
And yet I hesitated. Somewhere in there, I would find Jeff.
A twig snapped behind me. I turned around quickly and in one swift movement jabbed the person in the stomach. They stepped back, but they did not seem injured by my jab. I looked at them and saw none other than EJ standing there, scalpel in hand.
"I was about to kill you." He said, tone emotionless. "Didn't recognize you."
"I- uh... I'm glad you didn't kill me." I replied, somewhat confused about my quick reaction. Those reflexes weren't my own.
"You're welcome." The spirit said. Ah, so she had saved me from an untimely death.
"What are you doing here? I thought Jeff sold you out?" He asked, walking past me and towards the mansion.
"I actually came to warn you all that a bomb will detonate... And uh... Kill you. All." I said, jogging to catch up to him. He paused and turned his head towards me.
"Hmm." Was his only reply as he walked inside the mansion, pausing long enough to hold the door open for me. He then disappeared upstairs.
I had to pause for a moment. The mansion was much more crowded than before, there were many more people and monsters alike walking about, each occupied with something. No one paid much attention to me, some did double takes, but that was it. I began to walk with Slenderman's destination in mind.
With every step I took, the knot in my chest tightened. There was so much noise, so many creatures, it felt so crowded, I felt claustrophobic. I kept moving forward, hoping to reach a quiet room, a room in which I could catch my breath.
Disoriented, I ran into someone. I muttered an apology. The person paused and turned back towards me. I looked up at them and saw none other than Jeff the Killer.
