~~~Jeff's POV~~~
I don't know what took over me. The sheer anger, the need to just kill someone took over my better judgement. I had been holding her down, ready to plunge my knife into her chest.
There was no reason. I just wanted to hear her scream, I just wanted to watch the life bleed out of her eyes. I had been so close.
And then, when she burst into tears and began to ramble, I came to my senses.
It was true, I was having a nightmare. And it was terrible, and I would still be stuck in it, had it not been for her. She knew she was breaking the rules, she knew I was going to be pissed, and yet she still decided to wake me up.
I had gotten up from my bed, turning away from her for one second, and when I looked back at her to say something... Perhaps apologize, maybe thank her? She was leaving.
I asked her where she was going but she didn't reply.
She just left.
I remained in the room for a few moments, contemplating what just happened. How was I supposed to hate her when she just wouldn't stop? She saved me from those men who had tortured us, and now she was yanking me from the grasp of night terrors?
I stood up and walked towards the door. I needed to find her before she disappeared into the woods. I didn't want her to run into the Rake.
I was going down the stairs and towards the front door when I spotted two figures in the dark.
One of them was obviously BEN, though he seemed to be crouched over the other one... Who was...
"BEN what did you do!?" I asked, rushing over to see what had happened. Upon closer inspection, I could see she was unconscious. BEN was attempting to shake her awake.
"I didn't do anything, she just passed out. I'm pretty sure she was hyperventilating, though. Do you think she had like... A panic attack or something?" BEN asked, looking at me.
"And passed out? I don't... I don't know." I admitted, looking at her unconscious form. "What we're you doing up anyway?"
"I just got back from a mission." He said, looking down. "Maybe we should ask EJ. He should know."
"Right now? It's like 4 am!" I replied, pinching the bridge of my nose. "Look, I'm pretty sure she's going to be fine. Maybe she just... Yeah, she just passed out, but she'll be fine. She did it when EJ and I were going to kill her. She'll wake up."
BEN didn't seem convinced, but he nodded in the end.
"Alright... Why was she so scared anyway?" He questioned, narrowing his eyes at me.
I looked at BEN for a moment, then I looked down at Astrid. There was a moment of silence, but that was all BEN needed to jump to conclusions.
"What did you do? Aw, man, did you try to kill her?" BEN asked, his voice dripping with disappointment. "Why would you do that?"
I mumbled something about it being an accident and crouched by her side. BEN watched me quietly as I gently lifted her into my arms.
"If she dies, I'm blaming you. And I'm telling Slendy." Was all BEN said before disappearing.
Sighing, I carried Astrid to our room and gently set her down on the bed. I retrieved her pillows, which for some reason were strewn on the floor, and put them on her bed. After she was tucked in, I grabbed my knife, which was on the floor and decided to go out for a walk.
Honestly, I just didn't want to be in the room when she woke up.
I don't understand why the anger boils within me, but there's no way for me to stop it. I don't want to hurt her anymore.
She hadn't done anything to deserve my hatred, and yet I was still so keen on hurting her.
Giving her one last glance, I left the room. I didn't know what was happening to me, but I felt almost... Guilty.
