~~~Astrid's POV~~~"Wait, how do you know my mom?" I asked quickly taking care of the food on the bed. I ate it as quick as my chewing speed allowed.
"She, uh... Is like, super badass." Jeff admitted, looking at EJ.
"A few months back, in about July, she saved us." EJ admitted. "It's a long, long story, but she stumbled upon the mansion. Know that the mansion remains hidden to the human eye unless Slenderman wants you to find it. So anyway, she burst into the mansion, we're all minding our own business, until Slenderman appears and demands to know who brought the human inside. Then she clears her throat and she's like 'Excuse me, I let myself inside. Now put your weapons away and listen'."
Jeff nodded. "Yeah. And we're all baffled, because... Well the only person who speaks like that to us is Slendy. So anyway, we looked at him for the order to shred her to pieces, but he merely shakes his head. Disgruntled, we put our weapons away. And she crosses her arms and starts talking."
EJ did his best impression of my mother as he continued the story. "'Blah, blah, blah, group of mercenaries, blah. Will be at your doorstep, blah, blah. Weapons that are designed to kill you.' Now that caught our attention. Slenderman did his mind thing and confirmed her story. He then took her away to his office and told her to wait there."
I nodded along, setting the empty tray down. Jeff continued.
"The point is, that even though she merely told us of an attack, had it not been for her, we would have been caught unaware. We would have suffered casualties. But we didn't." Jeff concluded. "Slendy and she talked for a while, he probably wanted to know how she found us, how she knew that, why she warned us and all that."
I sat forward. "And?"
They exchanged glanced. "Well Slenderman never told us and she left before we could even thank her." EJ said. "Either way, we need to get you to the dining room before Slenderman kills us."
"How many of you are there?" I asked quietly.
"A lot." Was Jeff's reply.
"I need a new shirt." I told them, gesturing to my torn shirt. They looked at each other.
"Jeff, give her your hoodie." EJ immediately ordered.
"What?" Jeff and I asked in unison.
"We need to be in the dining room in... Oh, five minutes ago. Jeff, give her your hoodie." EJ said, more impatiently this time.
"This is the second hoodie I lose today." He said, clearly disgruntled as he took it off. Underneath, he wore a dark shirt. He tossed it to me. I put in on, immediately aware of how warm it was.
"Great, now help her." EJ said, and before Jeff or I could argue, left. Jeff turned to me, scowling. Before he could step close, I raised one hand.
"I'm fine, I don't need help." I said, standing on my own two feet. He hovered nearby, obviously worried that I was going to faceplant. I took one step forward, and fell.
Before I hit the ground, Jeff was holding onto me. "I thought you said you didn't need help." He stated with a cocky grin. I sighed and let him wrap his arm around my waist to keep me upright.
"I don't." I muttered, taking a step. He was standing right beside me, his arm holding me steady.
"Oh really? So what happens if I were to let go?" He asked curiously as he began to back away.
"Jeff, no!" I immediately said, latching onto his arm. He merely laughed and started to walk.
Together we made it to the dining room. There, I wished I had stayed behind.
The first thing I noticed was the tall man, whose face bore no features. No eyes, no nose, no mouth. There were things protruding from his back, I don't know. He wore a suit, with a start I realized who it was. Slenderman. The sheer energy that surrounded him.
I noticed a little girl clutching a teddy bear standing by his side. There was a monochrome clown, a boy that closely reassembled Link from Legends of Zelda, about three other masked males, two girls who were each missing an eye. One of them even had a clock where her eye should be. And there where others that I didn't have the chance to study because I heard the same voice as earlier.
Everyone, this is Astrid, Katherine's daughter. She is under my protection, since she saved Jeffrey and Eyeless Jack, and in the process, saved the location of this very mansion.
Even though the creature had no mouth and he was speaking, the only thing I seemed to think was something in the lines of 'oh, so EJ stands for Eyeless Jack' and then came the most important question.
Why Eyeless?
Then we heard the rumble of a car engine. No one moved. The engine died down, and two seconds later the door bursts open.
My mother ran into the mansion only to be met face to face with a horde of peculiar individuals.
Hello, Katherine. We meet again.
"Where is she!?" My mother demanded, and then, her eyes landed on me. She immediately rushed over and hugged me. Jeff took that opportunity to disappear into the crowd.
Go. Scout the area. Make sure she wasn't followed.
Slenderman ordered. With that, the majority of the group left.
"We need to talk." My mother said, turning to Slender man, her arm wrapped around me protectively. Slenderman nodded in agreement. "And you two, are coming." She said, turning to EJ and Jeff, who had attempted to disappear. They nodded and followed as Slenderman led us to his office.
