NINTY-SIX

Sky walks back into the living room, Holding Harmony. Everyone's attention turns towards us.

"Tell me the truth, Zach" She demands. Taylor sighed from what it seemed to be relief. I sit down and she sits beside me.

"That is the truth, Skylar. I don't know what else to tell you" Zachs voice was scratchy. I've known him for a while, Long enough to know when he's hiding stuff.

Skylar isn't that stupid either.

"But it's not Zach... Hey look, You can tell me alone, You can tell me in front of everyone or you can leave... You're choice" She hands me Harmony while she stands up again.

Zach gives me another dirty look and pull his shirt off. He had a massive bruise across his chest "Oh my god-" Taylor gasps.

"Kay had this done to me because i drove past this estate." He starts to cry again. I now believed him and so did everyone else.

That's really messed up.

"There's the truth" He puts his shirt back on.

"I'm so sorry Zach, I -" Skylar starts but gets cut off but Zach.

"Don't be sorry. I couldn't have kept it from y'all forever." He brings her in for a hug. As much as i want Sky to be happy. I know she has a better chance of being happy with me.

"I want to kill her" Sky pulls away and her voice suddenly drops. I haven't seen an angry Skylar since like the 7th grade. This isn't good.

"Don't we all" Myta hugs them both.

"Bro i'm sorry" Taylor squints his face.

"Nah bro, We all good?" Zach bro hugs him. "New slate" Taylor nods.

His phone starts ringing and he looks at he screen but then throws it onto the floor.

Sky picks it up and calls back the number. Which i assume was Kay.

"You better fucking run and find a good fucking lawyer before i get a hold off you" Sky says. Her voice steady but anger filled.

"....Oh shut the fuck up"

".... Do you want me to fucking rip your tongue from your mouth? No... Thought not"

".... Zach will be perfectly fine. Living where you can't interfere. I swear to god if you do though you'll be receiving a lot more then a slap to your face... I can promise you that" She hangs up.

That didn't seem like a friendly conversation.

"She won't bother us" Sky hands the phone back to Zach. Zach looks confused but doesn't question.

The whole room went silent for a minute "Y'all are gonna have to stay here for a while until i contact my lawyer... I can head to your house now and get y'all some clothes?" She looks at the Herron family.

"I'll go" Josh nods at her and grabs his keys "I'll go too" Jonah offers. Josh nods and they leave. She comes back with me and sits with Harmony. Breathing heavily.

"You good?" I ask.

"Remember how you dealt with me being angry and on the urge of a mental breakdown that'll last a decade" She looks at me.

"Yeah... I could never forget" I giggle a little.

"You're gonna have to do that again, Bubs" She looks into my eyes and breaks down.

oh no.

"Aww.. Sky don't cry" Zach comes over.

"Take Harmony" I put my hand on Sky's shoulder. Zach takes Harmony and i give Sky the biggest hug while she cries her eyes out to me.

"Bubs?" Daniel chuckles a little.

"That nickname hasn't been used in a very very long time." I rub along Sky's back. She was whimpering and bless her soul.

I shouldn't have ever dragged her into this mess.

"I hate you Jack" She whispers.

Typical Skylar breakdown thing to say.

"No you don't, Sky... No you don't" I remember dealing with this in the 10th grade. She'll yell abuse and say she hates everyone but if i leave her. She'll get angry that i'm leaving.

"Yes i do, I hate how much i fucking love you" She says really quietly. As a friend or... more than a friends...?

"In what way" I pull away and look into her sad eyes that could last a lifetime

"Every single way you could possible imagine bubs... It's you" She wipes her own tears. "You make me fucking crazy"

She's having a mental breakdown. It's probably nothing.

"Okay sweetheart" I wipe her eyes for you. Zach and Taylor were both proper eyeing me down.

Taylor hasn't been in her life for that long. He should know this is how we act. Zach can just stop. He's broken her heart too many times.

She looks down and starts hugging me again. "Does this usually happen?" Zach asks. He obviously wouldn't know. None of them have known her for long enough.

She keeps everything bottled up until she breaks.

This is her breaking.

"Rarely... And I'm the only one out of her whole family that can help her with it, So don't even be jealous" I stand up. Sky too. Still hugging me.

He rolls his eyes and we walk into the cosy room. Her arms still attached around my waist.

"What if he fucks me over again?" She sniffles

"Then i'll break his nose" I sit on the seat with her on my lap. She keeps her arms wrapped around my waist.

"What if Kay tries to hurt Harmony..." Her eyes shoots up.

"You know what we need to do?" Time to bring out tips from tenth grade.

"Scream into a pillow" She looks down.

"You still remember how to surf?" I raise an eyebrow. She looks back up at me "I have to take care of Harmony"

"Zach can spend some quality time getting along wit her. Me and you and repeating tenth grade. Let's go" It's either this or stuffing our faces with nothing but junk food for 2 days straight.

She gets off me and we leave the room. Her crying had calmed down but she still didn't seem like herself.

"You good?" Taylor asks.

"We're going surfing" I go into their storage and grab 2 boards. She smiles a little "Woah, That hasn't happened in a very long time" Christina looks shook.

She laughs fakely and runs upstairs. I steal some of Taylor's trunks and we head out. She was crying in the car but as soon as we get into the water. Joy overfilled her.

This is her happy place.
