(Name) walked through the halls, finishing a conversation with Kaede. Just like the blonde pianist, she wanted to get to know everyone in the academy.
She checked her Monopad, finding basic information on her. Her height, weight, Ultimate Talent... there it all was.
But one thing confused her—when asking everyone, she found out all of their Ultimate talents. One student, however, didn't know his.
Rantaro Amami claimed it came with the memory loss, that he was accidentally hit extra hard on something. But that was too coincidental to be true.
So, being the nosy person she was, (Name) went to talk to him. She was going to help figure out who he was and why he was accepted into the academy in the first place.
She thought the best place to start was his room, where he would most likely be after Monokuma explained their situation. Knocking softly, she called out, "Hey, Rantaro? Can we talk?"
But the door wasn't even closed. As (Name) knocked, it slowly opened up. Did he not—?
She debated on going in, but eventually, her curiosity caved in and she walked in hesitantly. "Rantaro...?"
The green-haired teen was sitting on his bed, staring at his Monopad. His eyes were focused on the screen, and he was so focused he didn't even notice her walking in.
(Name) shut the door fully, which actually got his attention. He looked up from the screen and stared wide-eyed at her. Even so, he managed to keep a calm composure. "(N- Name)..."
"Hey... uh, what're you reading there that's so interesting?" she asked.
Fortunately, he had dropped the Monopad on his bed when seeing the girl at the door. Her eyes found it quickly and she caught two words before he snatched it back into his hands.
Ultimate Survivor.
Rantaro caught her widened eyes and knew she had read some part of it. "It's not what it looks like."
"It looks like you told everyone you don't remember your Ultimate Talent when clearly you're the what—the Ultimate Survivor?" (Name) sputtered.
"I wasn't lying," he told her, voice blunt. "I don't even remember being this. When I walked into my room, my Monopad started blinking, and... I got this file."
She crossed her arms, listening to the rest of his story as he continued. "Monokuma even showed up in here as soon as I opened it. He said it was a good idea that I keep this secret... as the file was only made for my eyes, after all."
"So then why are you here telling me all this?" (Name) asked, not entirely convinced.
"You're the one who started shouting at me from seeing two words—"
"Two very important words, mind you."
"Either way, would you have left if I didn't tell you?"
She pondered it for a few seconds, shaking her head. "Okay, you're right."
"Besides, you're interesting. I've seen you around Kaede a lot, I'm starting to think her optimism's rubbed off on you." The green-haired teen smirked a bit, shrugging.
(Name) blushed a bit. "Uh... thanks? But besides that... what the hell are you gonna do with all this information?"
Now Rantaro was on his feet, walking closer and closer to her. She didn't know what to do and her blush only deepened as she stood frozen.
He hooked an arm around her shoulder, away from the camera, and whispered in her ear so low he knew Monokuma couldn't hear him, "I'm going to find the person who locked us up in here—the mastermind, if you will."
He then pulled away, leaving her stunned. (Name) widened her eyes, shaking her head. "Are you nuts?"
"No. I'm determined," he answered. His eyes lifted to the security camera for just a split second and he hoped she caught it—which she did.
Her head turned as she realized why he wasn't so detailed with his words. She knew she had to be careful with hers, too.
"Look... I really don't think it's such a good idea. You... you could get hurt," (Name) told him with a frown.
"You barely know me, yet act so worried. Trust me, I'll be fine—"
"Hey! Just because we've all met recently doesn't mean I can't care for you," she cut him off, her arms now crossed. He blinked twice.
They stood in silence for a few seconds before she couldn't take it. Her cheeks heated up a bit and she shut her eyes tightly. "Okay, you don't have to just stand there! Say something..."
Rantaro chuckled, scratching the side of his head. "Sorry... I think Kaede really did rub off on you."
"Hmph..." (Name) crossed her arms, avoiding his gaze. "Maybe she did."
"But I mean it—don't worry about me. Or just not too much." He placed a hand on her shoulder, smiling just a tad down at her.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. And just... don't tell anyone about this. The less that know, the better."
(Name) nodded, looking at her shoulder—which still had his hand on it. He didn't notice until he followed her gaze, pulling his hand away sheepishly.
"So, uh... see you later?" He tried to pull off a casual act—she figured it was because of the camera again.
"Yeah." (Name) nodded to him with a smile, going to the door to leave. "See you later. And be..." She didn't want to sound like a bother, continuously telling him to be careful, so her voice trailed off.
But he knew what she was going to say and only waved. "I will."
"Oh, and before I forget..." She turned her head for a second, smiling at him. "If you're going to be doing something private, you should really lock your door... or at least close it."
Rantaro actually blushed, but it seemed more from embarrassment. "Uh, right... thanks."
As she left the room, laughing to herself, (Name) had hoped they weren't obvious to Monokuma. One thing also bugged her the farther she walked away from Rantaro's room.
What the hell is the Ultimate Survivor?
A/N: I know this isn't how Rantaro found out, please nobody attack me—
