Kokichi stared at (Name) from across the table, his chin rested on his palm. Seeing her talking to everyone so happily, he couldn't help but smirk to himself.
She's perfect.
When everyone began to leave for breakfast, he took a hold of her arm before she left. "Hi, (Name)!"
She gave him a skeptical look—the entire time during the killing game, the students had gone against him. After all, he always lied to them.
"Hey, Kokichi... what's up?"
But not her.
No matter what happened during the trials or outside of the game, (Name) always seemed to give him a chance. She never snapped at him or got angry—the most she'd do was give him the same skeptical look she did just now.
"Come with me—there's something I wanna talk to you about," he told her.
"Uh... okay. You're not going to kill me, right?" she asked, a bit suspicious.
"What? Of course I'm not." And for once in his life, Kokichi meant it. What he wouldn't say out loud was, I wouldn't kill such a kind soul like yours. One that doesn't treat me like a horrible person.
It was true—she never snapped at him like the others did or treated him like dirt. He did deserve it after everything he put the others through. And even though (Name) was a part of that bunch, she never treated him any different than when they first met all those weeks ago.
(Name) was a bit hesitant but followed him out of the dining hall. She knew how to defend herself physically and Kokichi's short and skinny stature gave her an advantage greatly. She wasn't very scared, but kept her guard up just in case.
He led her up to the fifth floor, which had opened the day prior, and toward the Exisal Hangar. She stiffened a bit, staring up at the alarm system that was above it.
Catching her hesitance, Kokichi turned back and sent her a smile. "Come on, don't you trust me?"
Not much, (Name) answered in her head. After all you've put us through... you're not very trustworthy.
But she followed him anyway. Once inside the room, she found it completely empty—just the exisals, her, and the smiling supreme leader.
"Okay, I'm here," she said, crossing her arms. "What did you want to talk to me about?"
"Don't give me that look, now. I'm not going to hurt you," he told her. But now he was wearing that signature smirk of his and (Name) worried a bit.
"Kokichi..." She took a step back, all confident thoughts she had before thrown out the window. She was ready to make a run for it but he grabbed her arm, her eyes widening. "Kokichi...!"
"I'm going to end the killing game."
Her eyes widened and her body tensed up. "E- End... the killing game?"
The supreme leader nodded, pulling the girl closer. "And you're the only one who can help me with this, (Name)."
"What? Why me...?" she asked, finding it really difficult to get over the shock of his words.
"I need you to kill me."
What the fuck—
"I... huh?"
"To end the killing game... I'm going to die. I don't trust anyone more than you to do it, (Name)."
To become a blackened and risk being executed, no, that's not the thing that concerned her—well, it did, but it's not what worried her the most.
Without thinking, she wrapped her arms around the only slightly shorter male. "Why is that your solution?"
Now it was Kokichi's turn to be surprised—very surprised. "Huh...?"
"Don't... don't die to be a hero, Kokichi. I don't know if that's your intention, but..." (Name) frowned, resting her chin on his shoulder. "Please. You don't have to die. I don't want you to."
He had to admit, he expected a negative reaction from her. Anger, shouting and telling him she wouldn't do it.
But not this—not care and comfort.
No one had ever been this kind and concerning to him.
"(Name)..." Kokichi's eyes welled up with tears but be refused to let them spill. "I have to do this."
"No you don't...!" She shook her head, holding him closer. "Why do you think that?"
"Because..." Finally, after hesitating with his words, he couldn't hold in his tears anymore. "Because... h- how could a game... that you're forced to play... be fun...?"
"What...?"
All those times Kokichi said the killing game was "fun"...
"Kokichi... you always said that..."
"The killing game was fun, right?" he finished, sniffling. He didn't dare let her go. "I had to think this game was fun to survive... I had to lie to myself, (Name)!"
Kokichi was a liar. He was a fake. This act was nothing new to her.
But the way he spoke, the tears that never seemed to stop running down his cheeks... for the first time ever, she felt he was being genuine.
And that wasn't even all of it. The longer he went on, the more she felt she had to believe him.
"The bastards who created this game to toy with our lives... and the shits enjoying it... they all piss me off! Th- They piss me off so much!"
(Name) couldn't control the tears welling up in her eyes too, now. She felt his balance give out and they were now on their knees, holding each other.
God, Kokichi...
"Th- That's why... I'm willing to do whatever it takes... to end this game..." Kokichi mumbled, his head now completely buried in her shoulder despite how wet it had gotten from his tears.
"Kokichi, please... please don't say that." (Name) cried softly, shaking her head.
"I hate this game! It has to end!" he shouted. His position shifted a bit, his head now buried in her chest and he held her upper arms tightly.
"I won't do it!" She shut her eyes, tightly embracing the boy as if he would disappear if she let go. "I won't kill you, Kokichi...!"
The supreme leader said nothing else—he couldn't. He just cried, taking in the comfort he had in front of him.
(Name) could only listen to his sobs, crying with him. Now she knew he wasn't lying—Kokichi cried all the emotions he held inside, and she knew, she knew that after all these painful weeks of lying to himself, he finally broke. Even he couldn't handle the killing game anymore.
Still, she refused to hurt him. She would find a way to reveal the mastermind and end this once and for all. Kokichi didn't have to die.
And especially now that she knew his true intentions, she wouldn't dare let him do anything drastic.
A/N: I didn't mean for this to be sad, holy christ—
Also, this wasn't a thing where everything is exactly the same from the game with the reader replacing Kaito. So yes, I used Kokichi's specific lines in that last part and very little exaggeration, but only because it adds to their connection.
Just a precaution in case I get attacked, I don't like getting attacked but I know what I'm doing and I'm doing my best lol. :' )
