Chapter 171

'' No, he can't do this. '' Cole exclaimed. as he saw the bracket. 

'' He already did. '' Lloyd replied. 

'' We gotta fight each other. '' Cole proclaimed and looked at Jay who looked back at him. 

'' But why does it say I have to fight Cole? It didn't say that before. I'm not ready to fight. It was supposed to be my day off. '' Jay whined.

'' I tried to warn you, but you never listen. Talk, yes. Listen, not so much.'' Cole ranted. 

'' Is there a problem, Ninja? '' Clouse asked and tried to hide his smirk. 

'' You cheated! You changed the brackets. '' Cole roared and pointed to the bracket. 

'' Oopsie. '' Was the only thing Clouse said and walked away laughing. You really had to restrain yourself at that moment or else it could have been ugly. Just then, Garmadon came over to you.

'' What do we do? They can't fight each other. We came here to become whole, not fall further apart. '' Lloyd asked his father. 

'' You can't undo what's been done. My only advice is to be at peace with it. '' Garmadon sternly said to his son. 

'' Peace? One of us has to lose! Oh, my gosh. It's totally gonna be me. He's got super strength and what do I have? Quick, tell me! What do I have!? '' Jay panicked. 

'' Don't listen to my dad. We find Zane then none of us have to battle. Your fight isn't until tonight so we still have time to figure out what Chen's up to and stop this. '' Lloyd calmly explained to the others. 

'' I think I know just the person who can help. And I think he already knows. '' Kai explained. When he said that, you already had a pretty good picture of who he meant. 

TIME SKIP

The day soon turned to night and you all went looking for Neuro. After some time, you finally found him. 

''  We need your help, Neuro. '' Lloyd said.

'' You think I can get close to Chen to read his mind, so you can find your robotic friend and not have to fight. '' Neuro explained your plan. 

'' Don't forget- '' Kai was about to say something, but Neuro cut him off. 

'' You still need to know what Chen's up to because he's hiding something. '' Neuro said. 

'' That's really impressive, Nerdo. '' Jay joked. 

'' It's Neuro, Master of the Mind. And Cole thinks Jay won't last long in a fight. '' Neuro said. 

'' Pfft. You think that? '' Jay asked Cole while looking a little annoyed. 

'' You just said it yourself. '' Cole responded. 

'' But you didn't have to believe it. ''Jay shouted and pushed Cole. You got annoyed because of their bickering and stepped in between them.

'' That's enough you two! I'm sorry my friends here don't really know how to shut their mouth. '' You said and smiled at Neuro and keeping a tight grip on both Cole and Jay. Neuro looked at you for a moment and then at Cole and Jay again. 

'' Don't be offended, Cole. Jay here thinks you're the least valuable Ninja. '' Neuro said. and as soon as the words left his mouth, you knew things were about to get ugly. 

'' You don't say. '' Cole sneered and looked slowly towards Jay. You raised your hand in defeat and walked away from them and they began pushing each other again. 

'' We wanted you to help, Neuro, not make things worse. '' Lloyd said annoyed. 

'' But why would I help? You're competition. The sooner you're out, the better for me. '' Neuro suggested. 

'' If you want what's best for you, just look into my head and you'll see what this tournament is all about. '' Lloyd said to Neuro and he did what Lloyd told him to do. 

'' It's only a matter of time before Chen steals your power too. So are you in? '' Lloyd asked Neuro. You could see that Neuro had a concerned look on his face when he looked into Lloyds head. 

TIME SKIP

While Kai was standing guard at Jay's holding cell, you and Lloyd were standing guard at Cole's. You could hear them both preparing for the fight. You knew Cole and Jay fought often, but never to this level. 

'' You're cutting it close. So did you see into his head? '' Kai asked Neuro.

'' I'm sorry. I couldn't get past Clouse. '' Neuro explained. 

'' Good. Then we can finally put our feud to rest. Gladiator style! '' Jay roared. 

''  But I did see something. For a brief moment, I saw inside Clouse's mind. The powers he's collecting, they are for a spell. A spell for what, I don't know. But it's in his spellbook on page 149. I'm sorry it's not enough to stop the fight. I wish I could've done more. '' Neuro explained to Kai. 

'' That's okay. You've done what you could. '' Kai said and laid and hand on Neuro's shoulder and looked towards you, Lloyd and, Cole and shook his head.

'' You don't have to say it. It was inevitable we were gonna have to face each other. May as well be Jay. This fight's been a long time coming. '' Cole said. 

'' Well, I'm not at peace with this, but that doesn't mean you still can't find peace with each other. We don't have control when we fight, but we do have control of how we fight. Jay's not the enemy, Chen is. Remember that. '' Lloyd spoke. 

'' Wu once said the best way to defeat your enemy is to make him your friend, but how are you supposed to defeat your friend? '' Cole asked Lloyd. All of a sudden the bars to the cell disappeared and you, Lloyd, Kai and, Neuro up to the audience. 

'' You tried your best, the rest is up to them. '' Garmadon reassured us all. 

'' I hope they can see that too. '' Lloyd said and you smiled a little. 

'' Let the tournament continue! Jay, Master of Lightning, versus Cole, Master of- '' But before Chen could finish his announcement the two of them began fighting. 

They were really going at it in the start, but soon they slowed down like they were planing something. 

'' Ah, what is this? Pattycake? I'm bored. Release the Condrai Crushers! '' Chen shouted and soon both Cole and jay were surrounded by vehicles with sharp blades. But they easily dodged the ones that came at them. 

'' Ah, they fight together. Good work, son. '' Garmadon praised his son. 

'' Yeah, I do listen to you every once in a while. '' Lloyd teasingly told his dad. You smiled and pushed him a little bit with your hip. He looked at you and smiled. 

You all cheered when Cole and Jay defeated the Condrai crushers. 

'' Enough! I know what you are trying to do. If neither of you will win, then both of you will lose! '' Chen shouted and began to rapidly press the buttons on his throne and the ground began to disappear under them. 

At one point it looked like Cole and Jay were talking and then Cole ran and got the Jadeblade. But then he threw it Jay who caught it. 

'' Winner! Loser! Master of Lightning moves on. '' Chen announced. You couldn't hear what Cole said to Jay before he disappeared. 

'' About time. Phew. '' Chen said and jumped onto this throne. 

'' Cole may be gone, but he did not lose. Let what he did here today be a lesson for us all: know thine enemy, but more importantly, know thy friend. He fought like a true Ninja. '' Garmadon told us.
