Josie
You know how people have regular friends; some have those kinds of friends that you can't imagine your life without them? Well, I don't have either of those types of friends. I have Britt, Selena, and the Gray family.
Markus told me that he's gay. I didn't know why he needed to share that news with me. His answer is sharing is caring, and he didn't want me to get the wrong idea. How can I get that crazy notion when I don't have any plans to start?
Matthew told me that he isn't gay, but I'm not his type. Again, I don't know why he felt the need to share this with me. Parker told me that he's with Selena. Well, duh, I knew that. Then you have Payton, who kept his distance from me. Did I mention Markus became my best friend? Welcome to my life with the Gray family.
I should focus on school. Classes seemed more relaxed than dealing with the Grays.
Payton
I needed to figure out how to prove to Josie that I wouldn't hurt her. I kept my distance, trying to figure things out, which proved challenging every time I saw her. There was something about her that kept pushing me towards her. It was like a force of nature.
It was driving me nuts trying to figure out what I needed to do. Parker, Matthew, and Markus weren't any help. Thanks to them, things are utterly screwed up.
I decided maybe an outing would help the situation.
"An apple orchard," Parker exclaimed as I looked at him.
"What's wrong with an apple orchard?" I asked.
"It's not even the season for it. Are you daft?" Markus asked me.
"There's no wrong time to go to an apple orchard. We go, pick some apples, have donuts and cider, and maybe Josie will be there," I mentioned, trying to act casual.
The three of them looked at each other, then at me.
"Wait, you're hoping by doing this, you can show her that you're not a bad guy," Parker said.
"No, I thought it would be a pleasant thing to do," I replied.
"And I'm the tooth fairy," he retorted as Matthew and Markus rolled their eyes.
"How do we even get her there? It's not like she would come willingly," Matthew said.
We all looked at Markus, who looked at us, knowing what we planned. "You guys are tools," he said as I shrugged.
I knew how close Markus and Josie became. I couldn't ask Britt because she would tell Josie, and I wanted to show her the guy I am. I wanted her to see the side that I didn't prove to the other girls I dated. I never got the chance.
"Fine, but you owe me," Markus said as I shrugged.
Josie
Britt and I were hanging out in the bakery when Markus walked in, then over to us, and sat next to me.
"Why do you look miserable?" I asked him.
"Because my loving family puts me in charge of completing a task," he answered. I looked at him and arched an eyebrow.
"What did they do now?" I asked him.
"They want to go to an apple orchard and sent me to invite both of you," he replied.
"Isn't it too early for an apple orchard?" Britt asked Markus.
"Have you met my family?" He asked her as I giggled.
"Unfortunately, and Patton is acting like a snail," she sighed.
I giggled more. Poor Britt, she's waiting on Patton. I wasn't waiting on anyone because there was no one to wait on.
