Josie

I was getting my stuff together when I heard a knock at the door. I opened it to find Payton standing there, holding two Slurpees.

Payton took a deep breath, then said, "I'm sorry. I know we have spent little time together, and I want to make it up to you."

I took the Slurpee and waved him into the room and closed the door. "You're forgiven. How's Shaun?" I asked him.

"He's getting there, but it's going to be a slow process," Payton said as he set his drink down and walked over to me. He wrapped his arms around my waist as I looked at him. "I don't want you to think I would ever hurt you."

"Payton, you wouldn't hurt me," I said. I pulled away from him and set my drink down. I sat down on my bed, and he joined me. "You can't even decide about me half the time," I mentioned as Payton rolled his eyes. I giggled as he leaned over and kissed me.

"Okay, were you busy?" Payton asked me as I looked at him curiously.

We pulled up to an outdoor ice skating rink and got out of the car. I looked across the car. "I don't know how to ice skate."

"That's fine, you can hold on to me," Payton mentioned as I gave him a look. He smiled as he walked over, then dragged me over to the rentals.

We rented two pairs of ice skates, and Payton helped me with mine. Then he put on his skates. Payton helped me onto the ice. I almost fell, but Payton caught me. He held onto me as he helped me glide across the ice.

At one point, I fell, taking him down with me. We laughed as I laid on top of him.

"I told you I was bad at ice skating," I said.

"No, you told me you didn't know how to ice skate," he reminded me.

"The same thing," I said as he chuckled. He got up and helped me. He skated backward as I held his hands. We slipped and laughed. I was terrible but had a lot of fun ice skating with Payton.

After an hour, we returned our skates and grabbed hot cocoa to warm up. My teeth were chattering as he wrapped his arms around me, warming me up. We walked back to the car, then went to get some food. We ate and talked, then went back to his house.

I removed my coat once we were inside, and he did the same. I walked over and sat down on the couch as he grabbed a movie and popped it into the Blu-Ray player. Payton walked over and sat down behind me and pulled me to him as I sat between his legs as he wrapped his arms around me.

We sat on the couch and watched a movie as I snuggled into him. After the movie ended, Payton got up and put in another one. He walked back over and sat back down on the couch. I laid back onto his chest as we watched the movie, then I fell asleep.

Payton

Josie and I fell asleep on the couch during the second movie. I woke up two hours later to find her snuggled into me. I wrapped my arms around her as she woke up.

Josie looked at me, sleepily.

"Hey," I said.

"Hey," she yawned as rubbed her eyes. Then she got up, but I pulled her back to me. "Payton," she said as I kissed her, deepening it.

"Sorry, I wanted to kiss you," I said.

"That's great, but I need to use the bathroom," Josie said as I released her. She got up and went up to the bathroom. I laid on the couch as Parker walked into the living room.

"I thought you left," he said as I sat up.

"I did, then came back here with Josie," I said as Josie returned and sat down on the couch.

"How was ice skating?" Parker asked.

"I fell a lot," Josie answered as I sat there.

"Did you take Payton down with you?" He asked as I sighed, and Parker chuckled.

"How's Shaun?" I asked.

Before Parker answers, we heard Selena yell, "Shaun, you need to take a shower!"

"Do I have to?" Shaun yelled back.

"Yes, now come on," Selena yelled back as we chuckled.

Josie looked at us, confused. I looked at her and said, "Shaun won't take a shower unless someone is in the bathroom. Since he's terrified of being alone with Parker and me, Selena gets the duty."

Josie looked at me, surprised.

"Fine, I will take a shower, but can you sing to me?" Shaun asked as we chuckled.

"Not again. I hate that song," Selena groaned as Josie didn't know what to make with all this.

Maverick arrived and said hi to us before going upstairs. I explained to Josie who Maverick is, and she was even more confused. Selena handed off Shaun to Maverick, then came downstairs. She walked over to Parker, and he pulled her onto his lap.

We went back to watching a movie.

Shaun

After I dressed, I opened my door to see Maverick standing there. I looked at him as he smiled at me. I sighed.

We left the house, and he drove me to the bakery. I got out of the car and stood there.

"I know you don't want to be here, but you'll be fine," Maverick assured me as I sighed. He nodded for me to follow him. We walked into the bakery. I felt the need to get sick and did. I ran to the bathroom and heaved. I finished and washed my mouth out; then I came out of the bathroom as I looked at Maverick.

I left the bakery. I wasn't ready yet, and Maverick followed me. I got into the car and sat there. Maverick got into the driver's side.

"Well, you made it inside before puking this time," Maverick mentioned before taking me home.

When we got back, I ran up to my room. Each day I attempted to get back to normal with my life. Each day was a struggle. All I could do is take it one day at a time in hopes each day got better.

One day Britt came to see me. It was nice to see her, but I refused to have someone touch me. She attempted to hug me, and I stepped back. Payton and Parker assured her it had nothing to do with her. A simple touch made my skin crawl.

We talked for a bit, then she left. I hated this feeling. Everything is a struggle, and I wanted a drink. It got so bad one night that Parker found me with a bottle.

"Shaun," Parker said.

"I can't do this," I told him as I held the bottle in my hand in the kitchen.

"You can, and you will. Give me the bottle," Parker coaxed as I handed him the bottle. I backed until my back hit the wall and slid down, then I cried.

I heard a phone ring, and Payton walked into the kitchen, handing me a phone. I looked at him.

"Take it," Payton mentioned as I took the phone.

My hand shook as I put the phone up to my ear. "Hello?" I sniffled.

Shaun.

"Pax," I said as my voice broke and cried.

Listen to me, Shaun, you can do this. I know we hadn't talked in a while, but I know you can. Promise me to get better, and I'll be there next year.

"I'm so sorry, Pax. I didn't mean to hurt you," I sniffled.

Hey, we said we would see how things go. I'm sorry I didn't understand that, but I promise things will be better. But you need to take care of yourself.

"Okay," I sniffled as I handed the phone back to Payton. I sat there and cried until Maverick showed up. He stayed with me and talked me through it, calling Nixon to help me.

Parker looked at Payton. "You called Pax?"

"No, I called Maverick. Markus called Pax," Payton told Parker.

"We are going to have to thank our cousin," Parker mention as Payton nodded. They watched as I talked to Nixon while Maverick sat with me.

It was a start.
