The Scout
Chapter 3.
-The Bilateral-

Ty tried his hardest not to be sad or depressed about anything while on a mission. Those negative emotions pulled his senses inside and greatly increased his risk of a mistake. He buried his sadness about the whole sleeping bag issue and made himself think about Amy. Positive thoughts often produced positive results; at least that's what they told him in Basic......

He tried to be his 'old self' with Amy, he talked a little, even tried to be funny. But now he was a little worried she knew something was wrong. Women had that whole intuition thing going. Jennifer sometimes even knew something had upset Ty, before he even realized it.

Ty noticed, Amy had become a little quiet too. That was enough to worry Ty more.
So they both spent a few hours thinking about 'stuff'. Most of the 'stuff' Ty thought about concerned Amy and women, specifically he had sort of forgotten how a woman could make everything she touched......better; including him.

Amy spent her few hours of quietness thinking about Ty, and wondering if she said or did something to upset him. She had been alone too long, and her heart was lonely. But she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt; there was a real chemistry between them.

Right off, Ty noticed a chemistry, a connection between them. Pheromones were communicating and giving them subtle and subconscious clues that they were highly compatible. For Ty, it brought him feelings of a woman comforting and loving him; something he needed desperately. He often thought of and missed Jennifer; for a man, the comfort a woman can bring surpasses all others, ........by light years. There is no comparison.  And then there is sex, which adds another layer of the deepest love in a couple.

Sex is like propolis, a tacky, sticky, substance honey bees produce to virtually weld all the parts of a beehive together.  Making it difficult for storms or bears to penetrate.

Ty missed sex with Jennifer.  It satisfied and calmed him.  In the mornings following intimacy with Jen,
Ty was sharper, wittier, and much more confident.
Most days Ty's thoughts and hidden tears with Jen, always ended in bed with her.  There, laying next to him, her beauty was Indescribable  for Ty.

Ty found Amy very beautiful, he enjoyed being around her, even if nothing was said. She could make him laugh, he sensed Amy was concerned about his well being. Ty trusted Amy, and desired to protect her and make her happy.

For Amy she had feelings of safety, and of a man caring for her, two of the building blocks of love. Ty did little things to make her more comfortable and feel special.

Right off Ty noticed Amy's tough resiliency and lack of any complaints about her ankle. She had been buried fear deep in a dreadful situation, yet, she had enough composure to tease him about eating her when he spread honey on her face.

But the gesture that meant the very most to Ty was Amys thoughtfulness. Here she was scared and ravenous, & not knowing where her next meal might come from, yet she took a moment to share jerky and half her Snickers bar with him. She was being rescued, yet she took a moment to be kind. A tiny gesture but huge in the manners of Ty's heart. Sharing food and concern with another person had all sorts of connotations around it. Kindness needed no introduction to Ty, they had been old friends for years.

If Amy had to choose one thing Ty did, that meant everything to her.....it was his absolute mastery of getting her away from the Rebels. Of the myriad of things they could have done to her or not done.......being awarded as a prize, and then forced to mate with a 17 year old boy, be subservient to him, be his slave, sex slave, bear him children, and satisfy his friends, was beyond humiliating. It was crass and repugnant, .........and evil. Amy felt sick just thinking about what her fate would have been with the Rebels. An hour before she felt Ty cutting her hands free; she had thought about suicide, and had a plan.
