The Scout
Chapter 39; 'Lafayette'

Amy stood in her & Ty's bedroom on the 2nd floor of the McAdam's Farmhouse; right next to the main staircase. She couldn't get the scar on Jocks palm out of her mind. She had 3 Polaroid photos of her & Ty at their wedding. The film had been old, but she stared at Ty & whispered; I love you, to his slightly faded image. She stopped at the 3rd photo and looked closer at Ty's palm.......she could barely see the scar, but it was there. The same 3 inch jagged scar that had been on Jocks palm. It was directly below Ty's middle finger, the same as Jocks......dug into the flesh with a Marine Bayonet.

Boys!! Amy mumbled & shaking her head, at the crude way they chose to cut open each other's palm.

Maybe not boys, but definitely blood brothers. Ty had dismissed the scar, when Amy ran her finger across it, and felt the ridges of unstitched flesh.

It's nothing Amy, I just cut my hand on something sharp a few years ago.

Does it hurt??

Only if I press real hard on it......

A blood brother scar was not permitted to be stitched shut. Each brother would feel the pain for weeks; and at times for their entire lives; as a reminder of the other. A reminder of the wordless oath taken to love the other like a brother, even to give his life in battle. After Amy felt the ridges of Ty's scar, she kissed it tenderly that night in their tent.

They had not yet made love, and there was much Amy didn't know about Ty. But in a strange way, Amy seemed to understand this young Marine Scout who risked his life for others. She heard loyalty and compassion in his voice. She saw bravery and courage in his eyes. And she felt tenderness in his hand, that held her breast every night while they slept.

Another woman would have screamed and punched Ty for touching her bosom. But Amy knew the sacrifices Ty had made to rescue over 100 people. Plus his dreams & memories of holding Jen, in the way a man holds his wife while sleeping. Amy decided that if Ty needed to sleep with a boob in his hand; she would lend him hers..... Amy would give Ty anything he needed......she was that grateful to him and his unselfish bravery.

Amy also knew Ty was falling in love with her......Every night, 3 hours before dawn, she'd feel him pull her close......his hand on her breast and his male gear, long, and hard pressing against her back. Amy so wanted to kiss Ty, but it was too soon. She had had enough of relationships based on raw physical attraction. Amy wanted to know more about
Captain Tyler Borden, before she kissed him and became one with him...........But Amy had already imagined staring into Ty's eyes as she felt his hardness deep inside of her.  She was beginning to yearn for him; for his seed to be in her womb.  But it was too soon, and Ty was a Marine. 

Amy was certain Ty knew how to control his male needs.

Yet somehow her women's intuition told Amy there was a story to that scar. A story that told an entire chapter of Ty's character, his love and devotion to a friend.

She felt the rough edges of Ty's scar every morning on her breast. He was sound asleep, yet every few minutes, she felt his fingers gently squeeze her. Amy knew what Ty needed, and was dreaming about; but it was too soon.....

She wondered why married couples didn't cut their hands & hold them together while their blood intermingled. But she realized the intimacy of love making, brought a man and a woman to a new level of togetherness.
A bond so intense, it welded their love together as one.

Amy was a young woman and desired to feel Ty deep inside of her........

She stood in front of their dresser, holding the 3rd photograph and smiled. Amy thought of their wedding, her pretty dress, the Colonel, then Phantom walking her down the aisle.
She listened in her memory to Grandma's reading about love, Jennifer's photo, Ty holding her hand.
Saying I do, then kissing the man she had been searching for.
