Hey guys! This book was originally designed as simply a google docs sheet for a reference of the timeline for everyone in our group. But I decided that I needed something with more structure that was more navigable. Then I thought "Wait, Wattpad. Why not just share the story with everyone to see if it picks up any interest." And so now we're here.
So a brief history of the campaign: our DnD group consists entirely of coworkers within a certain Starbucks store within a certain state in America. So our Dungeon Master has a great idea for a campaign: helping a Merfolk (Starbuck's siren mascot) open up a successful coffee business. And that's what our main plot centers around.
Now for the setting: our campaign is using the Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica. Ravnica is a completely urbanized planet (plane) set in the Magic the Gathering Universe. There are ten guilds within Ravnica that our party members could choose from:
Azorius Senate - Blue, White (Police Force)
Boros Legion - Red, White (Military)
Golgari Swarm - Black, Green (Farmers)
Gruul Clans - Green, Red (Rebels)
House Dimir - Black, Blue (Spy Organization)
Izzet League - Blue, Red (Inventors and Architects)
Simic Combine - Blue, Green (Doctors and Biology Experimenters)
Orzhov Syndicate - Black, White (Church and Bank)
Selesnya Conclave - Green, White (Parks and Peace Keepers)
Cult of Rakdos - Black, Red (Workforce and Partiers)That is a severe oversimplification of the guilds, but should provide a brief look into the world of Ravnica. If anyone wishes to learn more about the guilds, I suggest this video that does a wonderful job of stepping someone into the world of Ravnica: https://youtu.be/2LV9fxa47LI
One final note: The sessions throughout this book are notes that I turned into a 3rd person perspective from the actual face to face sessions our group has. As such, the sessions do not flow as easily as a regular story seeing as they are a simplified retelling. After session 3, a Discord was formed to allow role playing in between sessions. This easily allows dialogue to be quoted word for word, making these sections much more book-like and allowing a much stronger view of everyone's characters, though only 5 out of the 7 within the party have actually decided to do any role playing in the Discord as of now. All sessions which represent Discord actions taking place in between sessions are represented with a .5 following their number. These parts are mostly word for word messages written by the Dungeon Master and each respective characters themselves, though may be partially edited to provide clarity and a third person perspective. Also the "Roll Call" at the beginning of every chapter shows which of the players playing a party member actually made it to that session. We mostly pretend like that character never existed when they are not present, but in cases where their presence is crucial to the plot, our DM puppets them for the session.
Parts are subject to change at any given moment due to party members or myself suddenly remembering something that happened in a session that was not previously written, though I will be making status updates on my page detailing every instance where a change was made.
That was a lot to read. Thank you for your interest in our Starbucks campaign.
