Note: The three Dimir spies were revealed to all players, though not to their characters.
Mr. Sunshine: Eliodoro
Mr. Bluesky: Arlen
Nadir: DolionRoll Call: Dolion, Eliodoro, Kai, Uldin
Two weeks after the last session.
Dolion and Eliodoro awake to find a spy murmur next to them. A spy murmur is a device that all spies except the very lowest wear at all times to speak with others wearing the device, using a collective telepathic channel.
Eliodoro also found a second murmur along with a note saying they have not heard from Mr. Blue Sky in a very long time and they wish for him to break cover and make contact.
Every member of the party awakes to find a letter from Estelle summoning them to the Peregrine Pearl.
Since the party has last been together, Kai has acquired a flying blue slime familiar (Morph from Treasure Planet.)
The party arrives at the Peregrine Pearl and finds a store that seems to be completely renovated and pressure washed. On the front is a quite fancy sign with the name of the café. It is studded with pearls that seem completely real, but most of the party recognizes them as wooden and suspects to have a magic about them that if stolen, would turn into wood in the culprits hand, and another would grow back in its place.
Eliodoro, remembering Estelle's insistence on a smoke-free shop puts out his cigarette on the sidewalk.
"Hello, hello! Welcome to the Peregrine Pearl." Estelle greets the party as they walk in. Siri and Vic handout free coffee (and temporary health) to the party. Siri makes a point to avoid eye contact with Dolion.
Estelle tells the party that while they are officially open, as they can see, the store is very empty. They need to get the word out about the new coffee shop, and she has just the way to do it.
The party is given a stack of ten letters to give to the leaders of every guild, most of which she has it good in with (the only guilds she does not have a reputation in is Orzhov, Boros, Rakdos.) She wants all the leaders (or a representative) to be present for a grand opening.
Behind the store is a giant courtyard connecting to other stores, and she hopes that will be enough room for the larger leaders such as the dragon Niv Mizzet and the demon Rakdos.
Uldin tells Estelle about all the machines he has invented over the last couple of weeks, and shows her the automatic grinder. She claps at the novelty of the grinder, but seems rather unimpressed with the Izpresso Machine, saying it isn't quite the tone she wanted for this restaurant.
There is also some confusion about the "espresso shots" and Eliodoro shouts, "Hey, nobodies shooting in here!"
Uldin listens to Estelle describe how she wants coffee to be comfortable, and an idea sparks in his head. His eyes gloss over and nose begins to bleed. He takes massive amounts of damage, but thinks of an idea to add steamed milk to the coffee (something he'll have to explore on his own in the future).
Kai heals the vedalken for the majority of his health back.
Estelle also mentions that the espresso is too light and needs a darker roasted coffee to work (coffee beans cooked for longer). She mentions giving him payment for the grinder in the future.
Eliodoro goes to the side and pulls out a thought strand of the new machines.
Dolion is hesitant to use his new murmur, as it blows his cover to many many people. All Dimir of course, but he is suddenly aware of all the agents around the city and feels uneasy about talking to everyone and them discovering him as well.
Estelle gets back to the letters and tells the group that whichever guild leader they go to first will see it as an honor, whereas leaders they go to later may be more insulted, but easier to convince to come as the list of partygoers extends.
She says there is no way to give the letter to the leader of House Dimir directly, but she is sure that the letter will end up there one way or the other. Perhaps they could been just drop it into a mailbox somewhere. Kai is taken aback, having always thought of House Dimir as a childhood fairytale.
Uldin seems very surprised at the idea of agents among him, and looks at his tiny dragon Ping and asks him, "Are you an agent?!" Ping's head does a 360 on his body and Uldin freaks out.
Uldin also sees Kai's new slime pet and asks about how the creature can fly with propellers. "Nature is a curious thing," Kai responds.
The party discusses which leader to go to first, and is thinking about choosing Niv Mizzet as he is ancient and powerful and a logical first choice, but choose Zegana the leader of the Simic as she is an old friend of Estelle and the other guilds are likely to be more accepting of her being chosen first.
Estelle also has some news for Kai. She has retrieved the magical suit of armor from her vault, though she does not plan to give it away for free. She says he can pay her back over time and the two sign a contract for 1,500 gold that is viewed by Eliodoro. Eliodoro stamps his insignia onto the contract to make it official.
The party goes to leave, but before they do, Eliodoro sneakily takes the letter addressed to the Dimir leader and puts it away in his coat. Estelle also gives the group a prepayment of 100 gold apiece and promise for more when the task is complete.
Uldin creates a manta cloak for himself so that he may be okay in the under oceans.
The party makes their way to Vanifar, and Kai greets his "Auntie". His is visibly shaking from the excitement of meeting the Simic leader Zegana.
Kai says they have a letter for Zegana and Vanifar seems concerned until he tells her of its contents. Vanifar says that while the main speaker hall underwater has air, the lift to go down to it is down at the moment. She says that she could give the party water breathing potions, but they won't be free.
Vanifar says she needs help capturing some escaped krasis in a nearby facility (the reason for the lift being down. The surface is being quarantined for the safety below.) She promises to give the party extra gold for the live capture of these beasts rather than their death. The party agrees and Vanifar gives the party a key to the hallways of the lab where thy will have access to the creatures.
