~Izzet League~
The day draws to a close as Uldin returns to his Quarters above the Blistercoils. Uldin had had a long day down in the briny deep, still smelling of salt from the air, and smoke from the capsule. He'd have to find a way to eliminate smoke from enclosed spaces, that Eliodoro is lucky he didn't kill them through asphyxiation. Truly a horrible way to go if the betas of different water breathing experiments were anything to go off of.
"So so busy, and hectic. Now to find how to coerce the other Guild leaders." Uldin said to himself after entering his room. So many things to keep track and so many projects to work on... it's as if he needed... Suddenly Uldin realized.
"Another assistant. A personal one, yes. THAT would do nicely. But just who to choose and how to go about it?"
Uldin exits his room and sets aside 14 gold, enough for a week of lodging. He rushes outside towards the Lab passing Mixit and Cazalim, and into the archives he goes. He... requisitions... some Caligraphy supplies and takes everything he could that has to do with storing information. He'd always liked this branch. After all the disorganization in said room said it all. It takes a long time to do things when you don't know where to start. Back to the Blister Coils he went. The cyclops blinked "HELLO... GOODBYE..." to Uldin as he rushes past.
Uldin puts his files and scolls all in his room and lets the workers in the Inn that he would be in his room for a bit. Just leave out a plate for him, it doesn't have to be warm.
He sets some notes on his desk and hangs diagrams around. Uldin starts his own log labeled, "Uldin on Artificial Minds". He sets up his work space.
"Yes yes, this will do nicely. Guess I should start to experiment a bit."
Uldin hesitates, Izzet work requires risk, but what he was about to do was terrifying. He taps the desk calling Sync to his side.
"Okay buddy, it's gonna be fine. Just need to power you down for this. When you're back, I think we'll understand eachother a little better. See you then..."
Uldin powers off Sync and opens up his access panel, one of the few on him. His Panels each would serve well. Opening it up, he slowly takes his best creation apart. Sync was the device Uldin owed his lively hood to. The first device he was able to confirm the success of. Such intricacies in his clockwork body led it to him being allowed council with Niv Mizzet. But it was more than that. Uldin's creation wasn't just a project, it wasn't a goal, but a dream. Uldin never exactly fit in, like a cog just slightly too big. He created and took risks most Vendalkin would never justify. He joined the Izzet as an Intern, tasked with cleaning and maintaining the tools, and asked to help with projects. Many of which weren't the safest. While every project added, you could never get without giving. Throughout all those years he studied under researcher after researcher and gained an appreciation for clockwork. When done well, it's consistent ticking was a constant in such a hectic world. This was the inception of Sync. A follower as consistent as clockwork itself. And to make it a reality he needed to make risks, the Visage of a dragon to get the attention of everyone. Every Izzet knew of Niv Mizzet, and not many could compare to this unique being. After a couple weeks, using sync to help gather materials, he was given a meeting: a hearing, from the council and from Niv Mizzet.
"Ha! I remember that day. You don't normally forget the day you almost die. I just wish you did sync."
The day arrived. Uldin brought his buddy, his notes, and the tools for keeping sync in tune. Uldin entered the council room, and even for someone as tall as Uldin, no room had ever made him feel smaller. Not even the Orzhov and their towering bank. though if there ever were a runner up it would be them. The room was large, but that's not what made him small. No, it was Niv Mizzet. His Draconic body was bigger than most creations. With a single claw, he could crush anyone. Uldin started his presentation showing off Syncs abilities, which mostly came down to his movement and retrieval abilities, but the longer it went, the more Uldin saw that Niv Mizzet's brow furrowed. He stopped Uldin and asked him what Sync's brothers normal uses would be for the League. If he were to be continued, what would he provide. Holding his claws above sync and Uldin, Uldin chose his words carefully.
